This song is sampled from a renowned folk song in South Africa called 'Die Alibama' ('The Alibama), associated with the Cape Minstrel Carnival. Boney M recorded both songs, and Frank Farian, Boney M co-founder, claims authorship of two songs, which is in fact one and the same song that has been sung in South Africa for more than a century!

Mr Farian was also brain behind Milly Vanilly.
