  • What kind of spoon gouge / hook is that? Is it Swiss made and also what is the # of the gouge. Any help would be appreciated... just starting out.

  • Great tips !! Please add links to your other videos ...I can't find the next one in this series.

    thanks : )

  • These might be the most pedagogic and best spoon carving videos on youtube!

  • Brother I could watch you with that spoon knife all day!

  • What wood did you use to make this?

  • Is this also possible with for example oak wood, or softer poplar wood?

  • thank you sir! superb vids. i learned a lot watching them. just got my first spoon knife today, a frost mora from sweden.

  • Great video, it's really informative seeing the hook knife in action.

Do you recommend any place to buy hook knives?

  • lol...I could easily make that hook knife but I can't carve a symmetrical spoon. Great video!

  • great vid! I've heard its beneficial to own both left and right handed spoon knifes - do you have any thoughts on that? Thanks

  • That's so cool, I haven't been carving in ages....I'm so jealous of that wood, it looks so easy to carve...

  • how is called this tool who you is using?

  • a knife

  • These videos are just what I need to get started after buying 2 knives from Del Stubbs. Thanks! I am interested in a video on how to finish the spoons.

  • I plan a video on finishing and drying and sanding ect. but I haven't the time as I have become very busy for the summer. I will try and get some more videos made as soon as I can.

  • Carl you are a very good teacher. Thank you. I would love to see you do a scoop or a ladle. Do you have a wood species preference for certain types of spoons? What is your source for the knives you use to scoop out the bowls of the spoons. BTW excellent video quality. Can't wait for the next one. Best to you and your family. You have a very bright future.

  • very good instruction Carl .. congratulations
