I will be flying to Singapore from the Philippines to watch Judas Priest's show there. Seeing them perform this song live will make me lose my mind. This was the first Priest song I heard and I loved it instantly.
@sbzombie69 There is definitely blues influence here. Play this main riff to a slower chilled out drum beat. It's a blues riff on the M Pentatonic scale.
32 Fuckin years later and British Steel still holds up. Any fuckin album that starts with this and ends with my favorite Priest song Steeler which gets a little nod above this is timeless. @behemoth1966 Personally, I don't like Metallica. But that's besides the point. Not saying there's anything wrong with them, but I agree with fuckjustin. Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and especially Black Sabbath, invented metal. Metallica just aren't of the same caliber.
@therestimenow They arent even from the same generation of metal. Of course metallica isnt like judas priest black sabbath and iron maiden, but they all influenced them, and they helped shape what THERE generation of metal sounded like.
@jacoo66 Alright, they shaped THEIR generation of metal, but the bands I listed created heavy metal, the original. Metallica helped create thrash metal, a sub genre of metal.
The way I see it, it's like comparing the inventor of chocolate, to the creator of the kit kat bar.
@therestimenow I totally get that Judas Priest, ect were all key players in inventing heavy metal. Metallica, Testament, Slayer and so on made heavy metal heavier. Im definately not dissing any of the bands were talking about. I love every band we've both mentioned so far. I agree that you can't compare Metallica to Judas Priest, because they're just too different.
@boneclub24 I do not understand what you said! metallica is metallica and judas priest is judas priest! led zeppelin black sabbath judas priest iron maiden saxon motorhead metallica megadeth slayer exodus manowar pantera celtic frost type o negative immortal machine head dimmu borgir legion of the damned all these band are very good, but different periods..and they are all major band!

This guy known as MAlford65 claimed that AvengedSevenfold are "True Metal" and that every other band, are lesser than that poor excuse of a metal band. Is there anyone who agrees that this guy is a Blind Idiot and must be silenced for good? :)
judas preiest is to fucking awsome i gotta say and other fuckin bands like black sabbath, megadeth, slayer, anthrax, dio, tankard, testament, overkill & motorhead \m/ '' \m/ \||||/
Very cool song. At first, I thought all the songs on British Steel were too generic-sounding, but on this song, there's something about the music and the way Halford sings that's very unique. The way the sings "forging the furnace for the final grand slam" is almost like he's smiling at the power of the imagery and not taking it too seriously. Same thing with the song Metal Gods. These two songs especially stand out to me. The combination of the music and Haldford's voice are perfect.
Leaving a trail of destruction that's second to nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNEEEE!!!!
@breakfastMcgull No shit, every fucking metal video I check out has some asshole saying "25 people" or whatever the number is..."25 people like Justin Bieber..." ha, ha, wow, funny, hey, you know what....forget about Justin Bieber...fucking Justin Bieber......
Rock&Roll anthem, my ears are still ringing since 1980 after seeing these guys leaning on the stage @ Ag Hall in Allentown; talk about loud!!!!!!!!!! OMG
people would piss their pants and crash their cars if they heard this music on their radio, it's outside the realms of what the common man can handle.
They started upping the tempo of metal with Stained Class, then Killing Machine, then.......... Does NOT get any better than this..........period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Wielding the axe Comes the one culmination That's always seemed Certain to bring down the curtain on greed Sifting the good from the bad It's the age for the rage of the Dogs which must fall to the just And be free Now grate for the vandals Who trampled and sampled Till this place conditioned Brought forth demolition to war The slipping and sliding Corrosive subsiding That withered and waned Till the world seemed all drained Fills the bay" That's all I have to say.
For me, Painkiller was the last bona fide Priest album...it died after that. The original lineup's back together but it's not the same - Rob's lost his mojo.
