Eric Johnson's 'sound' is characterised by those lovely sweeping melodic upward runs; who does'nt want sweet melodic expression in their playing? Gotta love that mini-335 he's playin too!

@GalaxyHorse That's an ES 336, and EJ-licks consist mainly of strict alternate picking. I am such a know-it-all-smartass, aren't I? ;-)

Well possibly, yep the Es336-or as I said a 'mini-335'-sure the picking style is correct, but he also has those wonderful up-the-neck climbs to high notes-part of his distinctive voice, but not his exclusively.

@GalaxyHorse - its actually an ES-339. these are laminate like a 335. The 336 came first and was / is all solid wood. Really different overall tone - otherwise identical in shape and size.

there is no way to play the guitar now days and not sound like someone thats the way it is cause pretty every style has mixed with every other style everybody takes a little bit from the guy before him thats how you get your own style
