Is there something in the resource distribution algorythm that corrects low distribution? Because otherwise your hypothesis that there will be another resource doesnt work :p
For the first minute and a half, all I heard was, "I won't shut the fuck up!" But that maybe just me. But, as the words of Sam Jackson in Pulp Fiction go, "SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!"
Fist of all Great introduction. I just stared playing a week ago and am overwhelmed by the amount of information and tactics and rules that im not sure how to handle. However, your walkthroughs look very promising. what you say is interesting and totally relate-able and your down-to-earth commentary is refreshing. Keep up the good work, your doing a great job.
and informative. What I want to learn about the most is how to really adapt to the different opportunities that the surroundings provide you with. To me it really hits home how much human beings are slaves to their surroundings and how everyone who wants to succeed has to be a great opportunist. You simply have to make the best of what you are given and this game is a nice way to get acquainted with that. I'll watch all your videos and comment here and there because I'm sure it's appreciated to
finished second. With an abysmal "Dan Quale" rating. I totally realized before I got it that I need to really have a long-time strategy of what I want to do, I'm just way too inexperienced to know what I am doing -- or can do. I find this game to be the most important I have ever played because of the insight one can gain into actual reality of human civilization. It's really the only series of games that simulates the dynamics and reality of growth, trade, war, etc. It's incredibly fascinating
I am so glad I found this. You're the first person I found making Civ4 videos on a high difficulty and with two years of experience at the game this makes it really interesting for me to see what I can learn from you. Finding this is really important for me because I am totally new to the Civ game series and I have only played two complete games as of now. First was standard Civ 4 tutorial and I won that one easily. Second play was Civ 4 Warlords on noble or prince -- I think it was noble and I
i got the game on christmas i was so confused (that was my first playing any civilization) so now im just lookin here (plus i have the COMPLETE EDITION!!!!)
this video caused me an auto-sub in the 1st 100 seconds forget the 100 turns lol:); your a very clear narrator and i can see that what makes you great is your very fleixble way of thinking (which makes for a dangerous strategist) great job and thanks for posting these
@Quyen11 I don't know if this acutally helps but I build more cities so that the people can move the that city, seems practical but I'm not sure weather it actually works like that, I've not been playing for too long
I found this game extremly addicting. I just heard of Civ 5, and when it comes out, i'm gonna see if the skills I use for this game work. Can you make a Walkthrough for Civ 5, please?!
I kind of disagree on protection. It is a pretty well rounded trait though leaning towards the defensive side. The Drill I promotion offers nearly the same benefits as the Aggressive combat I promotion, meaning you can tailor units that receive the +3 xp from the barracks to easily dispatch melee or archery units from the get go. Combined with the totem pole this makes Siting Bull's archers especially deadly.
The city garrison promotion also helps against counter stacks when you take a city.
I almost just start training settlers, hoping to get a quick win by taking lots of land quickly. I only used that strategy once, and I was able to convince almost all my comrades to become to vassal states. The others I either defeated, or simply turned everyone against them. I build workers when somebody reccomends me to, but it gets annoying as later, you you don't need them, you put them to sleep, then when you need them, their turns don't appear T_T
Sitting Bull can do a good early archer rush, one of the only ways to leverage his UB and Protective trait. Still, wasting time researching Archery...
Excellent!!! I've searched on youtube a few times during the last 2 years for walkthroughs on this game. I've been a player since Civ3, and I like to watch and learn from other players. These videos are exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
I've been watching most of ur CiV4 vids now, very helpfull. But how do make those small icons appear on the screen? The maps showing kobber, diaments, corn, rice ect? I cant seem to find it in the options menu.
If ur still lost:
To the right(east) of ur first City the first spot contain rice, but a big icon is hovering over the land. How ya make that visible? :)

Thank you so much! This whole walk-through has been of so much help. I've played this for quite some time but now realise there are so many aspects I've simply missed and not previously picked up. More walk-through's would definitely appreciated.
Great Tutorial, the map you used was pretty small so there weren't that many 'goody villages' but I find that hunting tech and therefore scouts are very important in the beginning game with bigger maps, as taking as many villages as possible is good strategy. I usually hold off on the worker until i build a scout and grow my city atleast 1 more pop. But in this tutorial it wouldn't apply due to the smaller map size and therefore fewer 'goody villages' so i would say your strategy was sound.
Wow really great tutorial...you have great talent. Your language is fluid and very clear and you explain not only your actions but also what you think and plan. So many others could learn much of you...hope you're gonna do more Civ4 stuff in the future :)
You actually just have to improve the happiness of the citizens. It's not about city size at all (like in Medieval Total War). Try hooking up happiness resources like Gold and building things that provide happiness.
If you're having a tough time with population you might be making too many farms as well.
let me tell you simple thing. It's easy to build an army and beat your neighbour but someone out there is teching so fast while you are tyring to recover from 0% research.
Awesome vids man, helps alot. Would be nice if you took the time to go through a whole game. Its pretty easy to get lost in all the things you gotta think about along the way.
"And it is very frequently possible to use warriors alone to beat barbs on ALL levels." yeah i learned how to do it from watching your great videos and no longer suffer from early must get archers syndrome

Above your map are a few little buttons. there is one where you can activate/deactivate those icons which show you what resources there are.

This is very helpful. I'm not new to the game, but I recently realized that I have to get a set strategy.
I play from Warlord to Prince difficulty, depending on what I'm playing.
So, is chop rushing really a good strategy?
and also, If archers aren't used, what would make another good defensive unit?
I apologize if this was mentioned in the vid or will be mentioned further in.
And I think I'll also subscribe, just cuz i'd much rather watch somoene play a game than read about a strategy.

Fairly raw deal on the start. Bronze working is a bit of an obvious choice on this map with only forest in your BFC except 2 tiles..
The reason for worker first is the net yields from working improved tiles overtake those of growing easily and quickly.
Gwall isn't really a gambit until probably deity...you will almost always get it if you sell out on it, but it's not always best to do that.
And it is very frequently possible to use warriors alone to beat barbs on ALL levels.
