@Laykingdom I think that the dollar can collapse much more soonner than that, as the US economy falters because of bad government choices and borrowing money to go to unending wars, weak economic foundation and weak and hyper-specialised industrial outputs by the US (they only export weapons now). the US currency will steadily get less and less desirable. There is a fatal blow that can occur anytime, as soon as enough oil countries on the globe decide to not use US dollars for oil sales.

If they all together decide this, there is no might on earth that can punish all these countries at the same time, the Americans are already spead so thin and has no money to pay for wars. All federally chartered banks are members. To become a member, a chartered bank is required to purchase membership in the Fed. As a member bank, they are able to borrow from the fed at prevailing rates. The profits from this lending are then remitted back to the Treasury.

You didn't say anything about how it was illegal. The fed ISN'T private. The fed has to report all the policies to congress by law, the board of directors are publically appointed and congress can amend the federal reserve act at any time to make the fed stronger or weaker. How is that private?

It is private it doesn't have to report to congress about foreign transactions and other very important things. That's why Ron Paul is working to audit the federal reserve and have transparency. There wouldn't be a defense that Bernanke is putting up if they weren't hiding anything!

Nope they do. By law the fed officials have to testify before congress if called upon and if congress asks to explain all their national and international transactions. If they are found lying then there would be serious legal consequences.

Look in your phone book, Josh. Do you see Federal Reserve in the Government section?? It's "private" only in the sense that it is not a publically traded company. Most of it's stock holders are wealthy European Bankers. The Fed. Reserve has NEVER been audited. Don't you find that strange?--a private company in charge of OUR dollars with ZERO accountability??

Its legal but not federal. Congress has no authority over them. Only two members are appointed by the gov. The rest are appointed by the very largest banks. I believe it is made up of 12 members in total.

He knows very well that if a currency is not back up by gold or silver it is destined to collapse. It just paper. Monopoly money is worth more than the dollar now. Do the math! The dollar is worth 2-4 cents. that includes $100 bills.

Ok thank you dleksen, to clarify the federal reserve notes of today are worth about 4 cents from the real silver dollar. These $1 Silver Certificates were issued until 1934. Did you ever get to see one in person? I did in 2005 and I told the person that had it to save it.
It said "One silver dollar payable to the bearer upon demand."
I just went to yahoo trying to fin one and I found it. In yahoo type: silver dollar bill and you will see that wikipedia is the first like. Find it in there. :-)

Sort of. Yes, it takes 100 pennies to equal the value of a dollar. I believe what he meant is that it costs 1 dollar for an item that used to cost 4 cents. The U.S. dollar has lost 96% of its value since the inception of the Fed. Reserve. Due to inflation, the value of the dollar loses value. The more money that is in circulation, the less it's worth. Thanks to the Fed. pumping money out, printing it out of thin air, and creating all these bubbles and busts, the value is worth very little.

Rogers said Britain made sense in 1807, the US in 1907, and now China in 2007.
But, deliberately ignoring PC for a moment, the fact is the UK and US have a lot more in common than either one does with China. So, is it right in thinking that this move, which in itself is going to be colossal, is going to automatically work and all will end happily?

Honestly, I feel a "RED DAWN" scenario in the near future for my fellow patriots in the U.S. China owns alot of that loan money & they will come to collect! With over 2.3 million active soldiers China has the biggest army in the world & 1 of the largest populations. They're communist so military service is not optional so they have reserves.
