Where you have the kids shouting country without language and Irish Forever ,etc ... as gaeilge you can hear a teacher or someone say in English "very good". A little more editing is needing methinks. Don't get me wrong, love Irish and can still speak a bit. Love languages and learning Korean at the moment.

The English occupation of Ireland, which ended 93 years ago is no excuse for you not speaking Irish now. If you want it enough, you'll learn it and speak it. I'm English and living in Mayo and I'm learning Irish and in the middle of a 3 week residential course in Conamara. Gaeilge abu! Tír gan teanga = Tír gan anam.
the first types of writings were put into big stones that looked like big scratches, not more than 4 or 5 lines. later on monks took the stones far away from the villages cause they were scared that animals or some kind of "devils" made those scratches. the acid rain runied the stones kind a bit during the years, but, for example, theres a pretty good piece left over in the national museum in ireland, in dublin (next to the parliament).

Well the English had surely invaded Ireland. But don't forget that there were rarely schools by the Time and because of that not many Irish were able to write or read. The English brought in schools and thats were we lost Gaeilge. So yes the English are the reason why Gaeilge got forgotten, but it was surely not on purpose. It was more a unexpected consequence of introducing civilized school systems to Ireland.
Introducting a civilized school system? The English banned education unless kids converted to Protestantism and were educated through English. Did you ever hear of hedge schools? By the way, the song is class.

Actually, Latin is the oldest written language, but Irish is the first to be written and spoken at the same time. The Celts spoke gaelic for hundreds of years but didn't learn to write until their encounter with the Christian Monks.
Actually Latin is nowhere near the oldest written language as the Romans used a modified version of the Greek alphabet who used a modified version of the Hebrew alphabet who were probably using a modified form of Egyptian heiroglypics or Sumerian cuniform (or at
least the idea behind them being a sound that was ascoiated with the word the heiroglyph or cuniform represented) So "ox" in early hebrew might be something like "Alpu" (Notice the way when you turn the "A" upside down it looks like a cow's head with two horns...?)
and the the early hebrew word for "house" was something like "Beth" so if you notice when you put the B on it's side it looks like two roofs (well in antiquity this was truer as B's were pointer back then..." and if you put the words together AlpuBeth (what does that look like???) AlphaBet???
And those are just mediterranean alphabets... THe Devanagari script in India was used to record Vedic texts is FAR older than Latin - Interesting note though- the Vedic root word "Arya-" meaning "noble" or "high" also where you get the word "Aryan" survives today in the names of the countries "Iran" and "Éire" the Irish name for Ireland... lol- ok enough linguistic schooling for today- Éire go brách!!!
Celt refers to a language family, not an entity. (common misunderstanding )I.e; classification of such groups as the Gauls and Milesians (Different customs, different gods, similar language)
The very word itself is an imposition: the greek's used the word keltoi to describe the barbarian tribes of central europe.
The celts didn't speak Gaeilge, as Gaeilge is just a branch of that linguistic group classification which includes the Brythonic languages and extinct languages such as Gaulish.
D'you know, Irish was probably the first language in Europe with a system of writing? And Irish monks founded schools and colleges throughout Europe? On the other side of the coin, a lot of Irish-speaking parents used to ban their children from speaking Irish so that they could get ahead in life and have more opportunities. Black and white is a shite way of looking at things. I'm commenting on a youtube video. I've become the lowest common denominator. And it's all the fault of the English :-)
no they banned us from speaking our native tonggue, pracctising our religion, playing our traditional sports and music. we should be fluent irish mar Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam
how have the gaeltacht destroyed the irish language? i agree it has been destroyed i would love to be fluent in irish and if i was i wouldn't speak english anymore

Tír gan teanga tír gan anam! Caithfidh muid ar fad iarracht a dhéanamh! It is part of us and we should all make a bigger effort-Is teanga shaibhir álainn í an Ghaeilge!GO MAIRE SÍ GO DEO NA NDEOR!
