They are still used on some railroads that require a lot of switching or have long backup moves. We used the caboose that day due to a long (6 mile) backup move to the Norfolk Southern interchange.
Thanks for the info'. It is nice to know that progress hasn't quite sidelined all equipment that require 'people' to be involved in a specific job. Happy New Year.
I thought Caboos's (!?), were a thing of the past on American RR's?

@applecounty just because they dont use cabooses as much as they used too, does mean there all gone
