I personally have worked with this man in another business and I must say he is a first class, intelligent, insightful business man and human being who made great contributions to help that company. It is too bad that so many seem to be biased toward him because of many years of UAL bowing to union demands and then blaming him when the economics of the business needed fixing. UAL was not formed to be a welfare agency.
Hey, here's an idea! What if United Airlines changed its theme song from "Rhapsody in Blue" to "United Breaks Guitars"? I mean, UBG is more truthful, cheaper, and now probably more recognizable!
I remember that summer of 2000 as a flight attendant. That was the absolute last of the good times I was having fun flying! Then 2001 right around the corner and the industry has never been the same
@worldwings honestly in the 1970s though 2000 United was awesome happy people great seervice and planes and also good food now after 9/11 united sucks This continental merger thing is bad united is going to make Continental suck because continental is awesome great food service awesome new planes happy employees I wish United and Continental never merged this sucks
United pilots decided not to fly additional trips (as they normally do to pick up hours) due to a labor issue. The company was forced to delay and cancel hundreds of flights-often at the last minute causing severe scheduling problems during the summer of 2000.
Watch his eyes when he talks. It looks like he is reading the information he is saying because his eyes are looking away from the camera, and are moving rapidly from side to side like as if you were reading. This guy is obviously not sincere enough to really mean the words he's saying. Sad isn't it.
Chances are he was reading from a que card, but that dosen't mean he wasn't sincere. I know how much the public loves to hate CEOs and other executives but you can't discount those that truely care about the reputation and success of the companies they run.
Good, I am glad to see you knew who Huey Newton was. That is a good start. However, you didn't answer my question on the little red book.
Now, how about you construct a sound response as to why you think I am wrong about Goodwin. Also, try not to use so much profanity this time, if that is possible.
any fucker who believes that what United did to its employees with its ESOP scam by the way smart ass, that wasnt Goodwins deal,it was Wolf's,where almost 100,000 employees were scammed out of pay, benefits with the false promise of profit(stock)sharing-did u ever hear of a thing called Enron jack ass? this conversation is worthless if you truly believe elitest scum like Goodwin,Tilton, etc serve anything but themselves and the real government-the banks!oh ya FUCK OFF!
I am not exactly sure why people are bad-mouthing Jerry Goodwin. I think United should have taken a good look at themselves prior to 9/11. For example, the pilot slow-down in the summer of 2001, the ESOP, high-salaries, etc. Goodwin predicted that UA would be bankrupt if costs were not brought to industry standards and he was right.
While he may have run UA into the ground, I still like the line at the end. "As a leader, United has big plans ahead. But we're not going anywhere until we get you where you're going, first." THAT is the service UA should be providing.
You broke Dave Carroll's guitar.

This fat slob was the biggest joke of a chairman at UAL. How he got to where he was was beyond me. Worthless piece of shit.

Why don't you apologise publicly to Dave Carroll - admit you were at fault and give him the money owed?

If I was a CEO, no way in hell would I memorize something...seems pointless. I would either make it up as I go along, or I'd read off something.
