I will stand behind my troops and eventually I will serve with the best this country has to offer, however this War I believe we had cause to fight, our goal was to stop commies and all they stand for, however the Vietcong and the NVA were simply to smart and knew their terrain and land way to well, and made every inch hell on earth for our boys. Many of our young men didn't even want to fight, where as the VC and NVA were fighting for their homes & families, where as we just wanted 2 go home.

It's so sad so many people had to die in a senseless, aggressive War. Let's be clear the, the United States stopped elections that would reunited the North and the South. Ho Chi Minh was initially pro-US and asked for US aid. The US wanted a puppet state, not a nationalist democracy. Around 60,000 dead Americans and millions of dead Vietnamese, for what?

Actually, we did not support Uncle Ho because the French wanted Indochina back in the fold after WWII. None of the reasons why or how mean anything however to those of us who went. whether or not it was a "just" war is immaterial to us. The ONLY important things to us are (1) we were called and we went; (2) when we came home we were shunned. I will never forgive the American civilians who turned their backs on us. I feel closer to the NVA soldier than to American mall rats.

I have no idea where you get your information, but I think you should correct yourself.

My dad used to scare the hell out of me when he was going through one of his flashbacks. When I was too young I didn't understand, of course.
The worst was when I saw him digging in the yard with his fingers (cut them to the bone). He later told me he thought he was under mortar attack (caused by Canada Day celebrations and the neighbours setting off fireworks). Assholes at his work used to set them off near him just to watch his reaction. They thought it was funny. Dicks.
