i would have thought that Hugh Johns (then with ATV) would have been sent to Newport to commentate on this game for the rest of the ITV Network with Bob Symonds commentating for the HTV Wales viewers but ITV Sport had opted to use the Bob Symonds commentary

Like Poorefsom I was also there. I remember it as the most one sided game I've ever seen which the best team lost. A Brilliant night. I've still got the programme & paper reports the next day.

That is Newport's old ground, they now play at Newport Stadium after being exiled into playing in England.

Newport are now in the Conference South in English football (2 leagues below the football league).
