im tryng to record a song... so first i recorded the backing guitar part kinda like urs.. in "audio track 1" and it sounded perfect... after that i wanted 2 add a guitar solo on top of it... so i recorded my solo in audio track 2 but when i play it together the first track (the backing guitar part) sounds perfect but my solo sounds all scratching kinda paused or cut off.. How do i record both track smoothly??
P.S im not using any USB cable for my guitar.(microphone recoding)
The only problem i seem to be having is that audacity records my keyboard but the sound is horrible. Does anyone know how to get this to problem solved?
@0487manuprasad Thanks. Yes I did use a stereo cable with two output slots, one for headphones and one for the mono output into the mic. I will try using only mono and plugging my headphones into the computer to see if it yields better results.
Ive spent hours trying to record from my keyboard to PC. Im plugging in a cable from my headphone jack in the PC to my keyboard's output/phones port, using the amp jack you describe (although no idea whether it is mono or stereo). When I play the keyboard, no sound comes out the PC OR the keyboard.Although when I record keyboard (without hearing any sound myself), Audacity manages to detect it and plays it back but with appalling quality and background noise.Any idea why I cant hear myself play?
@elliot520 hiii i think i can help you! when playing electric piano the sound is made by the electric waves you are making by pressing the keys.when ur playing electric guitar or in my case an electric violin the sound is coming from the movement of the strings and it can be heard even if the instrument is not connected anything.in that case-u can not ever use this technique to record piano parts.u should get urself a usb-midi cable it costs about 85 bucks-i got it and it is totally worth it!
@teresahan1991 OH YEAH. Thanks for reminding me. I'd started doing a tutorial for that, too, but never finished. Let's see if I can find the project files...
Thanks for the explanation! I'm just getting into this. I've recorded some phrases on my Boss Jamstation JS-5, and i'm trying to get it into my computer. I connect the JS-5 to my laptop Mic input, and I use Audacity to record the signal. But the volume starts out high then goes low. I was wondering if you have advice on that. In order to get around this problem, I had amplify and de-amplify sections of the track to get the volume on the same level.
@Kubtan That's very very odd.... Most likely it's something to do with the Jamstation. I'd google it and see if maybe Boss has put up a solution somewhere. Also, when dealing with issues like this, forums are your best friend. As for me, I don't really have a solution. I have no idea what could be causing it. Sorry.
Hey man i need help! soo i did everything you said with my electric drums and they record. But when i record i cant hear my drums while i am recording even if i set the monitor on so i can hear. I cant seem to hear my drums so if i am recording my drums on my computer i cant hear my drums. Do you have a solution??
Well like any form of electronics I'd expect there to be a few products that would be finicky with this method. I can tell you that during the brief period in which I had an electronic drumset, this worked for me. It could just be that you aren't doing something correctly. What kind of drum controller is it that you have? All I can tell you for now is, try this with just a regular set of headphones or earbuds. Connect the headphones to the adapter and try them in each different jack,
Nah, I doubt it. Like I said, some things are just iffy when it comes to this. It works perfectly with my guitar amp, but when I try to use my Korg Pandora effects module, it's not a clean sound either. I'm not exactly sure how one could clean the sound up. I'd like to find out myself, lol.
hey dude could you help me? I usually record my stuff with Audacity but using an USB microphone so the quality is not perfect. I'd like to change recording settings so I was told I need a soundcard or sth like that...Does your headphone-to-headphone cable system work even for bass? And what about drums? Sorry Idk much about this stuff ...many thanks :)
It works for everything that uses an instrument cable, bass included. As for your drums, unless you're using an electronic drumset or drum mics, then no, it wouldn't work for that.
thanks a lot man. this was very helpful. i have an acoustic/electric epiphone and i want to start getting my material i wrote on the computer. what type of headphones/microphones/amp would you recommend? you seem like you really know your stuff. send me a message if your willing to help me out. thanks again.
Now with an acoustic electric guitar, you should be able to what I've explained in the video, but remove the amp. Just plug the adapter into your instrument and run the cable directly into your microphone port. If that doesn't work, I'd recommend a Fender acoustic amp for you. They're very versatile and very high quality for about $250.
hey man whatsup i see u play garrys mod haha u have steam? u should hit me up some time u look like u would be fun to chill with and play games my name zkilloz
i did all that but when i plug in my guitar into mixcraft i get this white noise help.
