  • @seltian idiot. moron READ THE BILL

  • Medicare for all.

The public option is just a pacifier.

  • Will the dollar still be around in 2 yrs let alone 4....

  • From the outside a person can say--well couldn't you do this or that? but its not the same, when you are there it is an uphill, depressing, frightening, ongoing continuous struggle--I would be continually so depressed that I got used to it like a heavy weight that never goes away-but you build up some strength but its still there--things are better now,I moved away & there is hiking here in Phoenix AZ..I live in a more uplifting environment, can eat more healthy and now I have a computer to use.

  • It is just barely enough for just barely enough--I had reduced Y memberships, Lived in a smaller city & I could get around on foot, I had family around so I had just enough to get me past that hump, that most people can't get past l---another point is that poor people are more vulnerable to get pressured or forced into relationships that are unhealthy, or exploitative or abusive & they don't have anyone to stick up for them--it really is bad if you take a realistic look at it...

  • these are some things that I' have experienced as a person on SSI that are bad

1.People look down on you, they know your circumstances, they don't trust you, and they treat you in a less respectful way, many times in a rude way2.housing is bad, and in bad neighborhoods, cockroaches, dilapidation,

crime, griminess etc.3.not enough money for a decent quality of life-it is down to the penny-I made the best of it but it really is too low.

  • It is really nothing it is barely enough to just get the barest minimum--many months I remember being flat broke for 2- 3 weeks of the month, you do get good at finding free things to do by yourself.. I've stayed pretty busy.I find it essential to maintain good physical fitness, however healthy, fresh produce is very expensive, for years I was eating frozen, canned/processed foods, till I moved with my mom- the way my life is structured in these different circumstances has made that aspect better.

  • there are many people living sub-standard, bleak lives & people say "why don't they get a job?" but if you're a person with social difficulties, depression, or you've had dysfunction-people just can't --they just cant--just like one person can high jump 5 feet another only 4 feet-all different people have different characteristics, limitations & experience life from a different body/mind-this is overlooked & it matters & can determine whether or not one is successful in this short competitive life

  • I, personally, don't have much money for anything except healthy food and rent that I pay to my mom, who i share rent with--my benefits for depression are so inadequate-I'm lucky to live with my mom, before I was living in a terrible apartment for 7 years..too much to get into-but poor people in my situation do not have dental coverage,a lot of things aren't covered for health care--the money they get is enough to live in the worst of places, and maybe afford cheap processed food-

  • What is a "Public Option"? What exactly does that mean?

Why not expand (AND FUND) Medicare to all US Citizens? Make it optional. NO seizing of assets from bank accounts. We as free people have the right NOT to buy something from a private company.

  • this is similar to the begining of the healthcare system that the Hitler Administration began a few years before what they are known for, so 23 million are still not insured? didn't they say EVERYONE will be insured? wow this is a great plan...

  • What a win for those in the middle; they can't afford their own health care insurance, they don't qualify for any gov run programs, and now they will have the pay extra for those whom the progressives deem 'deserve' of public mandated subsidies.

  • The fix is in !!

  • "" <---- Those means irony, idiot.

And I live in the other hemisphere!

    Suerte!

  • what, living in the south is your excuse for being rude and dumb?

  • @nubbs

    ""<---- those means irony, idiot.

  • @recabarrennahuel

"" <--- those mean "quotation marks" or "inverted commas"

i guess the real irony here is that MY post was in fact such "a big fucking deal" (see how i used them) that you felt the need to respond to it like the hateful, sarcastic person that you are. please take your attitude back to your tea party protest

btw, for about 50 million americans, this bill really is a big fucking deal. what have progressives accomplished for the un and under insured lately?

  • @GrgoryLaw

that is a plus, but in the absence of a governing body, it seems plausible that Blackwater (now "Xe Services") or one of the other military organizations would step in to take on that role, only hiring themselves out to companies instead of the government (as they already do in some cases).

  • @recabarrennahuel

let me put this in broken english you'll understand

socialist also believe purchase, competitiveness, market, war, bailout, etc

socialists believe government help poor people make more purchase; public enterprise to make private more competitive like mail; believe market but with regulation and intervention' war, historically when it involves fascists; and bailout to ensure workers keep jobs

    got it, IDIOT

  • A rightwing French politician met the Obama campaign during the US elections. When asked how come he was meeting the Obama people rather than the McCains he explained that what is considered "progressive" in the US is often more right wing than the official right wing in Europe.

  • ¿Why do you call "progresives" to the politicians in the democratic party?

Obama, "the socialist", always speak of: purchase, competitiveness, market, war, bailout, etc... is like any other right-winger.

    Suerte!

  • Typical American "solution": create a new "market", this is a laughingstock.

  • this health care bill is just like a bailout to insurance companies you don't get "free" health care you're forced to BUY insurance(if you can't you pay a fine) and if you don't they tax you more and guess who will be overseeing all these new taxes yes you guess it the 2nd most corrupt agency behind the C.I.A the I.R.S enjoy the new 1600+ I.R.S agents with combat training that are going to make you cough up every red cent.....enjoy!

  • America=constitutional republic it is not a democracy(mob rule).... you have certain inalienable rights... that are trampled on daily if i might add...

  • People criticize the Tea Party movement, withouth realizing that those people have very real concerns, it's just that American's live with so much missed-placed fear since 9/11. Why are they mostly white, middle class people? Finally the middle-class got fucked.

I wish right and left would wake up, first as a human, then as an anarcho-social-libertarian, and see that both sides have sold America out to corporatist dominion!

Another victory for the for-profit healthcare industry...

  • Thank you for this comedic video. This is so funny because the interviewers allude to another lie from the politicians.

  • I laugh every time I hear liberals say the president compromised on HCR bill. Who exactly did he compromise with? it cant be the republicans cos they didnt vote for it or the blue dogs who just like the republicans voted no on the bill

The truth is that the president passed exactly the corporatist bill he always wanted, the same bill that have been proposed by republicans in the pass (see Romneycare). The president is a fraud and at best a fool for bargaining away the PO his base asked for

  • That woman needs to get a clue. America is NOT a democracy.

  • Personal Responsibility isn't part of the discussion.

If someone lives responsibly through exercise & nutrition then he should only have insurance for accidents.

We have to pay for people that allow themselves and their children to vegetate and eat the horrible easy-to-cook processed food. Later, their hospital bills for degenerative illnesses are huge.

Of course, the pharmaceutical industry and the medical counterpart are happy to continue to "CONTROL" (never CURE) your degenerative illnesses.

  • At least the fight has been started. and the outcome is still a lonng way out. the forces of change in this area were handicapped from the start. all media is anti change, thats where they get their revenues. Healthcare is the biggest boat on the water, and turning it around isnt easy, I for one, will give it a chance, lord knows the last plan sucked. And its Nixons fault. he started the hmo plan with Kaiser Permanente, in the early seventies. Yep, nixon was the shit.

  • Nothing ever gets done in this country because we as Americans are so trapped in the illusion that our system is so glorious that we always settle for the "middle ground" or half measures.

  • "that's what you do in a democracy, compromise"...what? NO! not if a majority of the people want, say SINGLE PAYER. the didn't need to be a compromise at all!

  • @WARDOG1138

Wardog, a majority of americans do not want single payer.

Your point is well made either way - it is hilarious when that woman says this is a great example of democracy - after they shoved through a bill that the majority of voting americans were against. This was NOT an example of Democracy, this was actually an example of the differances between a Republic and a Democracy.

  • forcing ppl to buy something they dont want or need.

insurance is what keeps medicla prices high, acting as increased demand.

  • This is not the "victory" that the American people aske for...

  • @CityofDestiny Oh? I like it and I am an American. As long as this country remains Godless, we will not get any relief in this world.

  • Milton Freidman has a big smile on his face. The people just got screwed.

  • Never forget that "government intervention" and "government control" and all that libertarians hate isn't just massive spending programs and "the size of government", it's also an unequal legal system.

People don't even blink when a sports star or politician get slapped on the wrist for a crime that would devastate a normal person. Or how corporations are allowed to break the law. You need to fight inequality as its core, and it includes oppressive corporations and oppressive laws.

  • Libertarianism is stupid, because with small government you will still have large corporations. I guess people just don't get it, class war is alive and well. If the rich won't control the population through the government, they will (and are) controlling the population through corporations.

You need democracy, not a easy-fix ideology. It means cleansing the system of corruption and forcing government and corporations to treat everyone fairly, regardless of how much money they have.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAHHAHAHAAHAHA!!!! No please, stop. you're tickling the funny bone. HAHHAHAHAHA! LOL!

Seriously though, World Blog War 1? I can't wait. This one's gonna be hilarious.

  • Congratulations from a Canadian for at least taking the first step towards a universal healthcare system. Now you have to begin working on a new bill that will provide non-profit, single payer coverage for all American citizens and lower your health costs by at least 30%.

  • I dont think its a good day for us. I want a single payer like you guys. We just got screwed.

  • Was that Gary Coleman standing next to Obama when he signed it?

  • @Arkinight

    I don't think that's Gary Coleman

But I was totally wondering that at first ;D

  • The last sentence about Mr. Change Obama refusing to fight for the public option, which benefits the corps, [surprise, surprise], but will switch.

This was the best chance having him over the barrel and Kucinich flipped like a pancake. What was that?

Was he threatened? Or his kids as is quite common?

  • Nice red scarf.

MORONS WHO CAN'T READ BILLS, ELECT MORONS WHO CANT READ BILLS.

  • Publicly funded, privately owned is fascism.

  • Pre existing conditions was left out of the bill.. people will lose jobs. And hundreds of taxes unleashed. insurance companies wrote the bill... so thats what you get...

  • Ban on pre-existing conditions where one of the positive things that made it into the bill.

  • pre existing conditions was in the bill actually. but ur right on the rest

  • @Itsrothytime yes pre existing condition part was" in the bill. But it is not in the final bill that was passed. even though they keep talking about on tv.

  • thats just not true though. you are not stating the facts. look it up. pre-existing conditions are covered. i'm not saying you're wrong about everything else but you're wrong about that.

  • @Itsrothytime ive been listening to a few reporters that have yet to find it in the bill. and i just read a news article stating that it wasnt in the bill.. i cant remember where that report was from. But i guess i could be wrong

  • Tea baggers are the brown shirts.

  • Know when this president is about to lie?

When he starts a sentence... "Let me be clear".. what follows is at least a misinformed statement but normally a lie.

  • im really disappointed progressives didnt get the public option but we'll see if somewhere in the near future obama writes it into law. i think the american people should be allowed to buy the same healthcare are politicians, and military veterans are entitled to.

  • I think Obama showed no leadership on public option. He wanted to kill it all along. Obama isn't a progressive... he's part of the elite.

  • .

The radical left is actively destroying the constitution and plans next on national tax and amnesty for illegal aliens.

Civil war is coming to America again. This time the slavers / oppressors are the radical leftists.

    .

  • nice copy and paste.

too bad you can't copy n paste you way out of reality: it's the other way around. The radical right (all of them pretty much) are destroying what it means to be human.

  • Typical proto-fascist rhetoric.

  • .

    @bulldogger

Sorry but the fascists are in charge of and support the government. I'm a libertarian that only wants the boots of these neo-liberal criminal thugs off of my neck.

    .

  • Far-right Libertarianism = neofeudalism.

  • .

    @bulldogger

Wrong answer. I have no wish whatsoever for feudalism, corporatism or big govermentism. Which is what we have now.

You want to be a slave of the state, that's fine but when you try to make the rest of of also slaves, then we have a big problem.

    .

  • @kmg501

Let me guess, your a Ron Paul Libertarian?

  • .

    @bulldogger

I support anyone who supports with fidelity, the constitution, limited government, liberty, fiscal & personal responsibility. And who doesn't try to use the power of legislation, [false]education or religion to oppress and brainwash people.

    .

  • Libertariansim leads to corporatism, which is pretty much FEudalism anyway.

U want everyone to be free, fine, but u dont live in a vacuum, ppl want money and power and will aquire it. Thats why we have a democracy, and a government, to control power.

  • @kmg501

yes we have big government, but about 23% of that government budget goes to military spending, lots of cash goes to subsidizing big business, and the rich pay less taxes than the poor. if we changed that so that we subsidized science and development instead of oil, cut military spending to eliminate the deficit, and built a tax system that was more fair, then we could solve a lot of problems.

also, Im not sure that big business is better than big government, we cant vote for ceos.

  • .

    @aSheeple

The government has a terrible track record right now and are operating outside of their constitutional mandates and limitations. This health care bill for example is just as offensive to me as the Patriot Act, No Child Left Behind Act, the unconstitutional programs of SS, Medicaid, Medicare and income tax. All of those are profoundly illegal under the constitution.

The problem is that people are short sighted voters like those in the UK where now they are slaves to the state.

    .

  • .

    @aSheeple

If you want the military reigned in then side with us in the liberty movement to get the federal govt to get back to it's constitutional foundations. IE stop picking big government programs you like and oppose them all, otherwise you are part of the problem.

    .

  • @kmg501

I like how you say, agree with me on everything or your a part of the problem. That has to be the worst conception of liberty ive ever seen.

but to stay on point, I cannot bring myself to fight against aid to the unemployed or the collage students or free education for children (even tho our education system needs reform). I cant stop being excited about nasa's mars rovers and the Hubble space telescope. I cant force myself to believe that corporations would provide cheaper roads.

  • .

    @aSheeple

Anytime you provide "aid" to someone you arbitrarily must confiscate something from someone else to do it. This is a form of rationalized slavery.

Sorry but no matter how well concealed or meaning, slavery is still slavery. The voluntary agreements I make with any given corporation are just that, "voluntary".

The government however is just some bureaucrat deciding how to best run your life with your money which is a product of your time & energy. IE theft through legislation.

    .

  • @kmg501

my intentions are not concealed, I dont have any problem with taxing the rich more than the poor and giving everyone the same benefits, the reasons being that : 1) when you tax the lowest quintile you lower their ability to purchase important goods and services like healthcare, healthier food, and a car that doesn't break down all the time. while taxing the rich does not prevent them from being able to meet these basic needs.

    (cont.)

  • A system should be devised where wealth can't be accumulated to a point where there are large wealth disparities--There should be sliding scales for poor, progressive taxes for rich, education should be made as accessible as possible, there should be flexible programs devised to meet the broad spectrum of different human experiences and circumstance--

  • @catgumart

    indeed... er i mean,

o no cat, you sound like *gasp* a progressive!

  • @kmg501

    2) the problem of wealth-condensation (Wikipedia has a page on it). progressive taxation lowers the force of wealth-condensation and increases the ability of people in the lower quintiles to move up if they work hard, increasing the incentive to innovate and preserver, progressive taxation also has strong support from economists, even Adam Smith supports it in 'the wealth of nations'.

if you dont get a job, you dont eat. companies are rationalized slave owners. and slavery is wrong ;D

  • Honestly- I don't think people should "have" to have a job---I think if there were a "no employment option" then society would be just fine--in fact much better off--I don't believe a society run by coercion is a free society or a healthy society--I don't worry that the people will become lazy and that society would come to a halt--I believe there would be plenty of people to work at jobs and the people who didn't "work" would find and fulfill some beneficial societal niche.

  • @catgumart

I agree, considering the fact that many of our modern jobs contribute nothing to society (were just pushing paper around or convincing people to use time warner instead of at&t) and all of our goods are made by a small fraction of our population. as well as the fact that most people say they would still want to contribute so society even if all their needs were filled. it seems to me a nice goal to shoot for. We could contribute to projects we believed in, instead of those that pay

  • So many jobs just seem like places for people go to maintain some type of organized structure to society--you know have people around and accounted for then give them their weekly salary-this is like the people below 40-50k--a lot of the work is meaningless, and unnecessary, or could be accomplished in half the amount of work time- I stay at home. I'm on (ssi) and I'm busy straight from the time I get up till bed practicing music, reading, cultivating on internet, yoga,exercise..

  • These jobs keep people on a hamster's wheel schedule-locked into conventions & pattern-istic, repetitive behaviors that keep them down below a glass ceiling of awareness & hinder progress in other important areas, like intellectual & creative development, physical fitness, self expression--everyone seems to watch a lot of TV & play a lot of video games--& work-that is okay but what about learning to play the piano, or draw, or sing-do people want to unload trucks or sit at desks their whole lives?

  • There is meaningful work to be done like care for disabled people, senior citizens, of course we ned roads and more parks would be nice, agriculture is very important, health care, and education--need a to find a way to get fresh produce less expensive & more accessible--supermarkets throw away a lot of food every month, couldn't they have sold it for less in the first place?

  • I think we should devise flexible work schedule programs--if someone is like me then they struggle with stress, depression, anxiety..i need more time, for balance & I have my own healthy self cultivation routine (I know it's taboo to to acknowledge ones difficulties) for people who enjoy their work & are gratified by it--& there are many people like this--who enjoy being a fireman, or police officer, or ambulance driver, they are good at it and it is meaningful & serves society-(cont)

  • (cont.) people who do this work or work that is in service to others disabled.elderly,infrastructure,agriculture--the more you work, of course the more well compensated--but also have maybe medium work schedules, light work schedules, with living wage & benefits, but what people need is more time and more health--but what do you do if there is an emergency at the center for senior citizens and they need you?--I'm contemplating all this stuff-what I don't think is good is business and banking-

  • Under this system, we are nothing but wage slaves renting out our own existences.

  • @kmg501

you know, you could opt out of the wage slave system now if you wanted to kmg. you just couldn't pay your bills or buy food, do you think eliminating the one institution that we the people have some say in (government) will change that fact? sure there are isues that would be solved by converting to an anarco-capitalist (amarican-libertarian) system, but I dont think the wage labor problem is one of them, pushing for a "directly democratic" system may be a better option.

  • exactly!

  • Oh you might want to check your hero Ron Paul's vote.

Yeah, Paul even supported this pro insurance health bill.

    Fucking frauds all of them.

  • Thank you for talking some sense. I'm tired of people assuming Paul is some sort of revolutionary.

  • Please give me link. I really want to see where Ron Paul "supported this pro insurance health bill. "

  • The reason alot of people support Ron Paul is not because we all think hes some sort of messiah that will bring about a free market utopia, but because hes honest and wont just adopt a policy bcos its popular but bcos hes truly believes in it.

So now u know. Also he did not support "this pro insurance health bill" like the other guy suggested. If it was left up to him, he would end all subsidizes to the insurance company and extent the insur tax credit from individual buying private insur.

  • people support ron paul because he's a true opposition. that doesn't mean they necessarily even know what his real policies are.. only that he speaks from an honest place, rather than a bought vote.

  • lol libertarians are for feudalism.

  • libertarians are also for isolationism.. would have let england and asia get over-run by the nazis and japanese rather than get involved.

  • @smokydave Ron Paul is an honest man, yet he never discusses his social policies what it means for the the entire society including treatment of the humble & education. Always watch what is omitted.

Funny how the american people are the monkey in the middle that never quite catch the ball or considered as a real entity when it's 302 million people.

RP's common sense & committment to the Constitution & bill of rights is otherwise of utmost value.

  • I know it makes me and others an oddity who simply wish for a decent society where all members are valued and given opportunity to succeed.

Even Russia doesn't toss people into the streets without a dime.

Our punitive Corporate owned society is shit. Nothing will change until they go down for good.

  • Far left = brain dead retarded. Feels good don't it? I mean it must feel good to just regurgitate and parrot the same exact shit that a million other people have said. Come up with something more original at least. The Nazi one-liner is soooo like, totally yesterday.

  • Putting words in other people's mouths is very unoriginal -- I never called him a Nazi.

  • @bulldogger You say proto-fascist, I say Nazi. It all adds up the same, no? It's seems to me you're just interested in splitting hairs here. It seems that people like you get hung up more on labels than debating the actual substance of a person's position. But then that would mean you would have to be interested in debating someone in the first place, which you clearly are not.

  • @christopher81818

I said he he was neofeudalist not a neo-Nazi.

  • @bulldogger

*Sound of a barber's razor turning on*

The king is dead, fuck the king, we don't need no stinking kings.

  • bulldoger,

throwing insults at progressives is unhelpful, if you want to help move the country in a positive direction, explain your points with the intent of helping people understand you, and talk to people with the intent of understanding them.

lots of normal us citizens are progressives and their just as much a human being as libertarians or tea partiers or those that go by any other creed.

  • @aSheeple Teapartiers are there for one reason and one reason only. Well funded by the powers that be to ensure the country remains divided & weakened & to keep things loud, rude and impossible to reach a constructive workable result for anyone, including their participants.

Anyone aboard that circus is being used.

HC? They'll collect taxes for 4 yrs & people will die waiting for godot. The u.s. will be finished by then.

  • Feds will carry the cost for 3 years (collecting from taxpayers) and then dump it all on states which are now going bankrupt.

This is another theft heist which will conveniently sink the ship of states.

    Then whut?

The damaging iceberg ahead is still there.

If they weren't so predictably full of shit I might be fooled into thinking they care if we live or die.

They do not. That remains unchanged.

  • Really?!

Do tell me where this "radical left" is at?

Cause the way I see it they have ALL been corporate whores,oh where was your qualms when bush was in office?

This is not liberal policy to have the health insurance industry draft a health reform bill!

This is what is inevitable from a free market policy, consolidation of wealth, power and political collusion.

Face it, this is the fruition of Reaganomics, but I guess you will omit these facts right?

BTW most liberals I know do not like Obama.
