There's no specific color for Mexican so I think it just that people think you look like a stereotypical middle easterner I guess. I'm Mexican too and I grew up in Jersey and I get Italian all the time, I have a cousin who could be Irish (red hair, green eyes, freckles) and another cousin who looks like she could be at least half Korean (or anything east Asian). People have a preconceived notion of what a certain race should look like but there are tons of exceptions.
