@theemailforkings No. Freestyle wrestling is much more different than folkstyle. Freestyle u can do rolls and throws and get more points. In folkstyle u can do the same but not get as much points. But in the olympics they don't let u wear headgear.

@timstramadal If ur intrested in learnin wrestling,u should get into an mma gym or jiu-jitsu or judo academy,learn some grappling 2 have a little head start and get familiar wit it and once you feel you have learned a good amount of grappling,then u can start lookin into joining freestly wrestling,so that way u dont enter the sport knowin nothin.Go to local high schools or colleges wer u live that have a wrestling team and tell da coach ur interested in freestlye,he'll tell u wat 2do from there.

@damnhereiam I've got one thing to say regarding comments like this; If you think this is anything but world grade physical performance, you either can't wrestle your way out of a letterbox, OR you just really suck at contact sports in general. Don't knock wrestling dude, it's the oldest and by far the most practiced in the world. Some countries don't even have a soccer team, but they still wrestle in gym class!

I have to admit that I wish I had the oppertunity to learn wrestling like you guys do, especially in the states. Instead I do Judo.

Would just like to say i really respect all the effort it takes learning to grapple. I think its extremely underrated. Although MMA is highlighting it now. Jon Jones throws in the UFC showed me what freestyle wrestling was. I never heard of it before then.

Regarding a pure sport and despite my personal bias, wrestlers tend to be the most complete athletes because they merge strength, speed, balance, endurance, flexibility and strategy so well. Sadly, they are also some of the most underappreciated. I'm obviously excluding MMA from my discussion here because of its inclusive nature.
