I'm learning this song and I've watched about 10 interpretations and it's funny how where people choose to make the accents REALLY changes the entire feel of the song. Imma try to stay as traditional to tango as possible with mine.
You know, I sometimes pretend to be a guitarist, and I hope that I will soon play "Tango en Skaï". I am not qualified enough to tell you if you made mistakes, but what I can tell you is that the way you played that wonderful piece made me feel something very rare, and very nice : pleasure.
B R A V O !
(I'm french, I don't speak a very good english, but I hope you understood what I meant)
this asian are very srtange in their use of the right hand finger... a lot of P finger(fukuda in la catedral) a little of A and M finger(like all european use in any classical guitar piece) and whrm they use A and M and ofcourse I finger's they do sometimes in a strange way?..can anybody clear for me that?...is the school's of guitar difrent..or what ?!!
Lee Byung Woo doesn't get enough recognition for his talents. He is clearly right up there amongst his competing contemporaries of best classical guitarists of our time.
Distinctively punctuated rendition. Can't compare to Dyens'. Dyens has it straight-no-chaser, strictly conforming to tango rhythm, a version that could be heard at professional dance competitions. This version is different, it's like tequila with lime and salt, you can imagine ballet dancers performing to it with a tango quite different from the original dance.
A very clear sound - due to his excellent technique. A wonderful player. In adition to that - comments from users like curatica and "absolute"guitar should be excused from display. These comments are Worthless in the absence of displaying the same piece played by them. (And they might be boiling with envy too....)
I agree with Abs0lutGuitar. This piece needs to by played a tempo as Dyens requested, not because he requested so but because this is the fundamental character of a tango, as a dance piece. Velocity is another requirement which this performer doesn't seem to have, let alone the absence of those long and uninspired caesurae which compromise the tempo, completely. Among utubers and other musicians, Dyens is the one who plays his piece best (no surprise here).
this is a great interpretation..if everyone plays music exactly the way it was written, then it would be absolutely boring. we need to see more variations... techniques and rhythms. This guy played it well.
I do practice many hours a day, and I can tell you he is playing the completely wrong ACCORDING to how Dyens (the composer) wants it. Read the back of the sheet music. He specifically says don't f*ck with the rhythm.
dude...don't knock it...this is his interpretation - a pretty DAMN GOOD ONE i might say...i don't think Roland wouldn't mind this one at all...remember, music (especially when you perform it) is left to artistic discretion and interpretation --- BE EMOTIONAL, BE MUSICAL...and this musician SHOWS THAT...
I understand the idea of musicality, I'm just trying to give an honest opinion to what Mr. Dyens specifically wrote on the back of his published work, as well as what he has said on numerous occasions to those in masterclasses that have played this piece for him. I don't exactly agree that he wouldn't mind this interpretation, that's all.
well... there´s no 'one an unbreakable rule' about nails size, it depends of guitarist self taste and discipline. I´ve heard great performances & known great guitarist with short, long nails and yes, no nails at all...
Oh my sweet Jesus, what a virtuoso performance. Love the setting and the editing, the feeling, and control. I heard zero rattling so this man is a master.

don't like the phrasing.... doesn't seems to me like its flowing naturally, even when it's supposed to have that kind of feeling....
