His statement was 100% true in that there are that many incidents that occur, and if this happened to someone personally or to someone close to them, is it not feasible to resent traffic officers issuing tickets for speeding 5 over the limit while others are being harmed? @HannahUmerus If there's going to be a limit to speed then it has to be somewhere so techinically, 5mph is illegal but here in Ireland I've never, ever heard of anyone being prosecuted for that. @ZZKe7 And my girlfriend was pulled over for going 6 mph over the limit, 36 in a 30, on an empty straight stretch at 2 in the morning, less than 100 yards after being reduced from 45 mph. It happens. She paid a $400 fine for that. Not that you'd care, but some people have experienced less than favorable encounters with the police.

On the issue of speed enforcement, the cops where I live came up with a good idea. They got a life-size cut out of themselves and stuck it on the side of the road. Everyone slows down until they're right beside it. Effective and cheap. Not making any opint, I just thought it was a good idea.

@ZZKe7 And my girlfriend was pulled over for going 6 mph over the limit, 36 in a 30, on an empty straight stretch at 2 in the morning, less than 100 yards after being reduced from 45 mph. It happens. She paid a $400 fine for that. Not that you'd care, but some people have experienced less than favorable encounters with the police.

On the issue of speed enforcement, the cops where I live came up with a good idea. They got a life-size cut out of themselves and stuck it on the side of the road. Everyone slows down until they're right beside it. Effective and cheap. Not making any opint, I just thought it was a good idea.
