OH and for someone to believe there isn't an intelligent designer takes alot more "faith" than to believe it does exist. And atheism is based on God NOT existing with proof that you dont have..... And all proof that you thought you "had" is quickly dismantling and you are left with nothing , theory of evolution is dismantling because of so many missing links !in decades they could have found them but they haven't. so check your facts and sources and learn about your belief!

For all of you that say that the creationists in this movie are stupid , religious blah blah..... They are some of the most educated and qualified people in the science , philosophy , mathematics.
John Lennox-----Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford, Fellow in Mathematics, Philosophy of Science and Pastoral Advisor at Green Templeton College of Oxford University.
Michael Egnor---a neurosurgery professor at SUNY at Stony Brook.
wait wait wait! the poor religious people who don't understand/accept evolution are being made fun of and told to shut up? oh no! they're getting told to shut up because they don't get the facts! where as atheists are told to shut up because they question the beliefs of others that are based upon no facts at all...... poor creationists, SUCKS TO SUCK!!!!
I support science and whether that science is investigating intelligent design or investigating that pigs fly. science is about investigating every possible side and you cant just throw one side out of the window because you dont believe in it. I dont believe in intelligent design but I still think it should be researched.
@starryeyedbeautypie Errrr no. Science doesn't work like that. Intelligent design is not scientific, there is no hypothesis let alone a theory. Pigs have no means of flying and scientists already know this because they understand the physiology of pigs. Intelligent design has long been refuted, it just doesn't fit with reality at all.
Evolution produces real results and helps us develop vaccines and fight diseases. ID just says "god did it". How can "god did it" advance society?
Real scientists don't doubt that evolution has occurred and does occur. Religious nuts feel threatened because deep down they know that their beliefs are not founded in fact.
@automatewithkorn Dawkins didn't say that life on Earth came here from other planets. Dawkins didn't say that he thought that life on Earth came from other planets. He only said, when pressed by Stein, that it was a possibility. Dawkins believes that life almost certainly began here. Stein used deception in his dishonest and misleading editing of the interview. Watch the unedited interview and you'll see that Stein is a weasel.
@ndrthrdr1 Was it you or was Dawkins who said "believes ..." To make matters worse, Richard is now a believer? How is that possible? Certainly Richard does not believe in anything. What anyone says something is possible, actually person is saying he is possibly wrong about the whole thing and he does not know anything. A true scientist or trained on true scientific methods, then the word, "believe," should be absent in his vocabulary. Do you find yourself saying "... believe..."?
@automatewithkorn Of course I use the word "believe", I believe that the sun will continue to shine for the next year. I don't KNOW that with 100% certainty, but based on the best evidence available, it seems to be the justified to believe that it will.
Dawkins believes, based on the best evidence available, that life began here on Earth.
@ndrthrdr1 theory of evolution is not about how life began but based on darwin's empirical observations he wrote about how species proliferated after life began. Dawkins knows and has admitted on this and other video that he and many scientists acknowledges that a chance for a single celled organism to be created out of a junkyard is a 1 over 10 to the 40,000th power. Unfortunately you are one of many people who think Darwin explained accidental creation.
@ndrthrdr1 Another theory to explain away theory of evolution? How about if we delve into Theory of Relativity to explain why Richard Dawkins is a Galactic Fool. Einstein says nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. If Dawkins life coming from another planet is true that Einstein would turn in his grave. But let's bring in Entropy. What idiot would mention abiogenesis without mentioning Entropy?
@automatewithkorn Dawkins doesn't think that life came to Earth from another planet. He only acknowledged the possibility when Stein kept hammering away with his inane questions.
Why is this so difficult for you to grasp? Frantically looking for reasons to believe that you won't actually die and cease to exist?
@ndrthrdr1 the number was mentioned in the video. I have homework assignment for you. I will give two days to complete the assignment. Where in the video was 1 over 10 to the 40,000th power mentioned? Show exact minute and seconds from the video. You will be graded and given extra points if you show good evidence. I teach at a local college.
@ndrthrdr1 Please remove "believe" from your vocabulary and from any written material you have created past and present. Do not use the word in the future. Possible substitutes are "think" or "based on evidence." Now you are ready to begin the journey of becoming a true scientist. When you drink as sip of water, start your journey as true scientist with water test kit testing each drop. When you need to breathe, carry around oxygen canister since air might contain virulent material.
Darwinism is pseudoscience--pseudoscience is already in school. Why not just stick to straigt empiricism and get off of worrying about either theory of Darwinism or intelligent design and let the chips fall where they will? What's the beef?
Basically, evolution is treated as fact even though it's just a theory. They're using the public school system to curse out our kids legally. SCIENCE TEACHER: You're nothing but a piece of s*** with no future after death. There is no right and wrong, unless you S.O.B's dare to fight us. If you suggest intelligent design, you can kiss my a**. Evolution says you can f*** and kill anybody you want for pleasure. I don't care if cells are complex; go p*** on the Bible. Any questions, (you w******)?
If the chance of everything in are universe coming from random events, is so remotely small, I wonder what the odds of some other "higher being" in some relm coming up with and building are universe in a lab?? And who made his world?? It just doesnt work for me. Prove to me that there is a god, give us some solid evidence to prove his or her existence, please. Intill then im airing on the side of evolution where there is some solid proof of some sort of evolving going on! Maybe aliens aregod
Most "documentaries" are lying propaganda films. The fact that so many people decided this would be the movie they called on it just proves the point Stein is making in the film: that there is a prejudice against those who believe in ID.
If there were any evidence for creationism or against evolution, we'd have heard something by now. The creationism vs science debate was over long ago. Ask a scientist.
theres plenty of evidence for creation but our gov't doesnt want you to know about it they want you to believe in evolution! but are you open minded? if you want i can give you books to read or links
Ah, you're a conspiracy theorist,. Have you been abducted by aliens? There is simply no motive for the kind of conspiracy you describe. You are just believing the propaganda. Check out the evidence for yourself. Open your mind, you'll be glad you did.
Evolutionists and IDists can argue all day w/o convincing each other.
Want to offer more CONCRETE evidence to convince me that darwinian evolution is real?
Try and simply recreate the modern fly, easier than a human being, in all its intricacies FROM scratch and NOT copying any DNA code from any where. If you do, then you are long step ahead of other evolutionists who just speculate. But if you can't, despite ALL our science advancements, then that shows evolution has serious problems.
not really, fly's haven't changed that much in the last few million years even though we have. But I don't think we're scientifically advanced enough to recreate DNA yet, I mean we've only just finished mapping it. Maybe in a couple of milleniums or so.
"But I don't think we're scientifically advanced enough to recreate DNA yet, I mean we've only just finished mapping it. Maybe in a couple of milleniums or so."
< That's my point.... if darwinian evolution were true, DNA technology should be easily recreatable, but it's not....it's far more advanced than us.
i think everyone misses the point of this film though. Its really not a matter of what you believe or dont its about freedom of speech. The movie shows guys who got fired or "expelled" rather, for just throwing out the possibiity of intelligent design. and thats messed up.
It's really not. I study at a university where some cutting edge research is being done in bio-engineering, and not a single one of their results would be possible without the solid foundation of evolution.
Darwins theories are the reason we have engineered crops and many form of medicine.
Also, Darwins theories have been modified by scientists to fit new data, but to reject it like ID does is just stupid
"the possibiity of ID" is so absurd that I see no fault in you loosing your job over it
Just want to clarify one thing. ID is an absurd statement in todays age, with the current data we got.
If I lived 200 years ago, I would say the statement of general relativity was absurd, consider the data I would have had available then.
In the future, new data might come up that put the notion of ID in a new light, but as it is now, there is nothing I know of that speaks in its favor. So leaning on that theory is absurd, since there are other theories that have better supporting data.
@Superslemmet so you dont believe in freedom of speech then. We should live in a nation where people should be entitled to their beliefs and should be aloud to say what they want to say, thats one of things that makes America: America! If a teacher or journalist says something that you disagree with? then disagree with it. But dont fire the man. Thats a lil extreme.
@llongmire A teachers job is to help a developing human better understand our world and how it works, and also to give them the intellectual tools required to pursue higher education should they so wish.
A teacher who teaches creationism is consciously sabotaging the child's cognitive development, and that mean he/she should absolutely be fired.
They are not just doing a bad job, they are doing harm.
Science is not opinions, its facts. I know, science is what I do.
@Superslemmet Yeah, my bad. I should have been more specific i was referring to the individuals seen in the film. Your obviously talking about children teachers (K-12 maybe?) When i said tachers i meant College, not grade school. Because by the time your in college your brain is developed enough to where if a teacher says something you dont agree with well then you can just go against it. Unless the teachers a dick of course and fails for not agreeing with him then yes he should be fired.
@llongmire At first glance, I would agree that the situation is different at college. However, even in college a teacher is firmly in a position of authority, and by abusing that authority, he is doing harm the the students, and in the long run, to the economic and social growth of the USA.
I think that is a big enough issue that the teacher should be held accountable for the harm he is doing to his fellow humans.
@MONOPOLY35 There are way too many planets out there for us the 100% certain that unicorns do not exist.
In science you don't need to be 100% certain something works (on the contrary, you should always be on the lookout for situations were the theory does not work, it might land you a Nobel prize!)
As it is today, the science community is 99.9% certain evolution is true, because it is useful, and produces results which we use for our benefit. When ID does the same, it should be taken seriously.
@llongmire This movie is full of lies, the NY Times reports:
"The film suggests, for example, that Dr. Sternberg lost his job at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History because of intellectual discrimination but neglects to inform us that he was actually not an employee but rather an unpaid research associate who had completed his three-year term."
This film is not about freedom of speech at all, it is creationist propaganda by the religious right.
That is quite simply Not the point of this film. It hides behind "free speech" and "freedom of thinking" and "opinions" only to propagate it's ideals. It doesn't truly care about free speech, it uses simple marketing scams to appeal to the majority using flawed logic and poor reasoning to do so. It very easily fools the simple minded though, apparently you're one of those people. There's not an "opinion" when it comes to being right or wrong. This is simple propaganda.
I am fine with people learning about creationism, but keep it out of public schools, evolution, survival of the fittest has been proven from years of research, creationism has not, learn that in sunday school, at church. Intligent design, or creationism is not science, it is a religious belief, stop trying to brand it as science.
It HAS NOT been proved, hence it is a THEORY, i cant believe how many people miss this crucial element to the "THEORY of evolution". Your comment if anything proves that it IS being taught wrong because suddenly everyone jumps to the conclusion that there is no other way. Schools teach the facts of the theory as in what the theory suggests, it's just done terribly because ppl like you think that what you were just taught is fact in its own right!
Why does this slurring lunatic even exist? He is not even a scientist, and he is trying to discredit science? Stein, I'll tell you, the reasons why creationists can't land a job in the scientific academia is because they are idiots. And sorry to tell you this, but facts are not a democracy, you cannot question it, because if you do, then they will become retards like you.
Let's bring Native Aboriginal spirituality and Hindu philosophy into the classroom then as well. You know there is one Hindu creation story that suggests God compressed an egg so tightly with his love that when it shattered out of the golden half came the Earth and the solar system and our galaxy and out of the silver half came the rest of the universe for us to explore. Hindus aren't fans of evolution either, but there is one story that blow your minds.
I'm a far left athiest and I DO think it is ignorant for schools to be teaching students that there are no alternatives to evolution. Whether evolution is scientifically proven (which I think it is) or not they need to be more understanding of other people's belief and at least state the theory as one of the numerous possibilities for human creation. I mean I'd actually be a creationist if it weren't for the vastness of outer space (which to God isn't relevant). Maybe you could explain that bit?
Jaden: I can point you in the right direction as far as the vastness of space statement. I will start in Genesis Chapter one and the multiple purposes of the Moon, the Sun and the stars. Then encourage you to examine Job chapter 38:31-33
"Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades, Or loose the cords of Orion? Can you lead forth a constellation in its season, And guide the Bear with her satellites? "Do you know the ordinances of the heavens, Or fix their rule over the earth? "message me for links
Then God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so. God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.
God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, ..."
Are the answers of faith and those of science in competition with each other? Or is a co-existence even possible, in which of the two approaches to reality retains its validity? Where do I come from? Where am I going? What is the aim of my life? What is its origin? What is its meaning?
Darwin challenged the statements of his time. So must we. Where do we come from? How did the world come into existence? These are fundamental questions that concern everyone. Those who hold the Christian faith, and theologians, especially, have to make a serious attempt what it means that we believe "in God, maker of heaven and earth". A series of scientific disciplines, such as biology and physics, are looking for answers to the question of how the world and man came into being.
No one can prove how life originated on the first place. Darwin studies life after its origin. How the species modified, changed, "evolved", as you say, throughout the years. That theory now has become everything, yes, it has many correct facts, but nowdays, people does not face the fact that the ideals must change over time, to become closer to the truth. Otherwise teachers nowdays would be teaching their students that the earth is flat nowdays.
FockerTheLopper, just for the record, IT HAS TO DO WITH EVOLUTION. You see, Darwinism says that life originated by chance, that a single cell came to "life" from the proper elements such as Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, etcetera, etcetera. But if look at it, there are billions, infinite probabilities of not happening life as a result to that process. In his book "The Origin of the Species", Darwin does not explain how life happened on the first place, in fact no one exactly knows.
There are much more proves, like archeological finds. There are many places, human kingdoms, traditions and many more things in Bible, that are proven from other ways.
That's not truth. There is no other religion that speaks about God who was gave himself to save the world.. John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Jesus was not the first person to perform "miracles"
He was not the first person to be crucified and resurrect
He wasn't the first person to claim he is the son of god
... most if not all stories about Jesus are stolen from other religions.
What has christianity done besides bring death and conflict to the world? this so called "religion" was based on scare tactics, oppression and murder... And all its followers are the most hypocritical mindless sheep in the world.
Christianity is based on love, not any kind of scaring (the Catholicism maybe is from some part). Is there any murder in testament, which was not punished? Do you think, that you are cleverer than Pasteur, Mendel, Pascal, Newton, Lewis or Tolkien. Pasteur saved more lives than Darwinistic scientist and doctors. In the name of Evolution they removed appendix (as survival of evolution) from many people but it was a home for useful Bacteria...
what are you talking about wells colliding??? European people fled to America to have free religion, and not no mention they were Purists/Catholics/Christians. I am talking about the people who started America not the ones/Indians/ who sat on it.
I do not understand why this is even an issue, there should be a way to teach both Christianity(Theology) and Darwinism in school, if school's teach every subject, knowing that not all kids will walk away with something, then why not Christianity too. America was founded on Christianity and the United States is taking this away.
Calling people names doesn't further your cause anymore than swearing makes you seem more intelligent. All I said is that I have the freedom and the rights to embrace my belief without being attacked by people who are so insecure in what they 'believe' that they have to resort bullying to make themselves feel better about it. If you are so comfortable with evolution then go talk about it with people who feel the same way. Only the uncertain feel the need to compensate with put-downs and attacks!
@TheBibleIsImmoral evolution or not, every effect has a cause. so, if every effect has a cause (and thats a natural law) the whole universe needs a cause, so everything can exist. its impossible for the universe to exist without a cause. the bing bang is not a cause its an EFFECT. watch the movie and you will see your arguments are just as weak as richard dawkins' who said that maybe some alien-race created humanity. How 'bout you turn on your brain?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Atheism has killed more people than anything else in history. If you keep an open mind and watch this movie, you will find how wrong darwinism is and that ID is in fact an intelligent theory.
Numbers don't lie. How many people did die during the Crusades? Few millions? Less I think but its no match for Stalin anyway. And crusades are against God's law, Catholicism is different thing than the Christianity is...
If you would ever read Bible or just know what it is about, you wouldn't find any justification for genocide. Fundamentalism is opposite to modernism (I guess you know), so Pasteur, Newton, Pascal, Lewis, Tolkien, Kepler, Martin Luther King or Copernicus were against progression.
Why would you have a name like that? Why do you people attack religion? What's so wrong with it? I disagree with some religion but I don't have a name like deathtothejews or something like that.
I am sick of people discriminating against me because they think I dont have any morals such as this Move dose. Morals dont come from religion and the Bible is full of Immoral passages check out my channel for more Info.
I dont have anything against Religion but I hate when people say they get there morals from the Bible witch is bullshit those people obviously havent read the Bible.
Ben used to just be an annoying little git. Now he's decided to become one of the IDiots who want to inflict a bronze-age superstition onto a modern society which no longer has any need or use for it.
ID hasn't a shred of credibility.
ID's proponents have been given the opportunity to demonstrate its alleged validity in court... and they didn't even bother to appear for the hearing.
It's as if they KNEW they had nothing of credible value to show the world.
What bugs me, is that in this "modern society" people like you are searching for opportunitys to silence those who oppose you, rather than embracing free speech. Now that seems like "bronze-age" activity to me. If you disagree with ID, then don't go searching for videos just so you can call people who do believe in it morons! You don't see me searching for Darwin videos! Let's all have enough certainty in our beliefs so that we don't have to always play defense!
*bhfischer90* "you are searching for opportunitys to silence those who oppose you, rather than embracing free speech"
WTF? Who said anything about silencing you? My embrace of free speech need not include allowing you to teach your fairy tales in schools, which is, after all what you want to do. You want creationism (ID) to be treated as a scientific possibility - which it is not, and cannot be. ID is wholly ridiculous, as are it's followers. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
you fucking morons always make stupid comments like this. FREE SPEECH has nothing to do with it. say whatever you want. i'll say that you probably fuck your sister...doesn't mean that it has to be taught in schools
Actually they are quite scientific. Watch a film like "Understanding the Mystery of Life" or just do some open-minded research into their theories and you'll see that.
Actually "they" are not. If they were it would already be in our public education system and not banned from it. If you have miraculously been able to prove that it is indeed scientific, then you should take it to court because nobody else has been able to. Real scientists already have done open-minded research. They are ALWAYS looking into other ideas. They are not the closed-minded ones that so many seem to think.
What have I written that leads you to believe that I am hostile towards theistic scientists? lol Honestly, I just told you that most scientists are THEISTIC. Why would I care what their religious views were if it were not interfering with their work? And last, why would I be hostile towards a group I consider myself a part of?
You are not convinced of what exactly? That I am not hostile towards myself? You are not convinced that most scientists are theistic? What?? You are making no sense.
From what I have read, I do not think that either of you know how natural selection works. Ignoreing the fact that the creture has to survive to pass on its genes, you can still get "irreversibly complex" animal over time.
Its simple: The first generation mates and makes two animals, 1/2 the same as their parents. These then mate with another and thier offspring are each 1/4 the same as the first generation. That continues to be 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, and so on until they are 1/trillions complex.
evolution is proved. how do you explain entirely new breeds of dog being created by selecting individuals with particular genetic mutations? this IS evolution, except the humans choosing the individuals are replaced by survival of the fittest.
That's not what intelligent design scientists are disagreeing with. The kind of evolutionary theory they're objecting the kind that says "humans evolved from microorganisms".
Evolution is evolution. We all know that evolution occurs...like you just pointed out in your response to theirs. The only difference between what many people want to call micro and macro is time. It may be hard for some to see this gradual process in vast amounts of time, but small steps can lead to large distances.
I don't think the difference is time; the difference is whether or not the species changes. I understand that a mosquito can evolve into another kind of mosquito, but it's an entirely different thing for a mosquito to evolve into a bird. They're a completely different species.
If a population of mosquitos can evolve into another "mosquito" that it cannot successfully mate with, would you consider that to be another species? Change in a population over time....
Who says that mosquitos evolve into birds anyways?
You have just been given any relevant background information on my previous post. And why does it seem so silly to you that humans may have evolved from much more simple organisms? Because we are "irreversibly complex"? Or maybe because bananas have ridges on them in just the right places to fit our hands? What kind of background are you coming from?
Whatever I tell you about my background, I expect you will shoot down, so I will remain silent on that.
That evolutions seems silly to me because of the information I've heard. Based on that information, I've chosen to believe it's not possible for humans to evolve from microscopic organisms, though I do believe that humans were probably very different from what they are now when they first came into being.
Your choice. Maybe you should dive into your own research on the subject a bit further. The majority of theistic scientists have done the time and would not agree with your position. I'm not saying that you are "wrong" by believing that "macro" evolution is silly, just stating that it's hard to believe you have done any real research on the issues. The evidence is there any overwhelming. It has only grown stronger over the past 150 years. Who did you listen to for your information?
Scientist question darwanism all the time?? Lets be real here. Scientist question darwins theory of evolution within the context of evolution. I.e are there different mechanisms other than natural selection driving it? Scientists almost never question darwin within the rhelm of what he is saying may be utterly and totally wrong. If atheism is a religon then this show that self righteous athiest are no different or more tolerant that so called religous people.
you're allowed to question darwinism, btw, scientists do it all the time. but there is a difference between questioning and stupidity, and stubborness, one has evidence to back it up, the other has nothing to support it what so ever. and if you think scientists are all these extreme athiests, they preach athiesm, live athiesm, and die athiesm. you'd be wrong, in fact, 40% of all scientists have a belief in some sort of god/gods, and for some it vindicates their belief.
No, rather salient analogy as solving a murder requires research and evidence. I like to put the same effort into believing in God. To not do so, to have 'blind faith', is like crossing your fingers and hoping for the best. I like to think that detectives do more than that when attempting to solve murders.
creationism isn't a fucking science. only a fool, religious or otherwise, would belive that. religion is the belief in any kind of truth that allows one to be a better person. i'm an athiest, but i would say my religion comes via people like Vonnegut and Faulkner. mythology is the exaltation of outdated stories by those who must have their lessons dealt to them in "the tortoise and the hare" fashion. truth cannot exlipse truth. if someone is really religious they can accept the truth of science.
Intelligent design is NOT science. Scientifc theory can be tested & repeated.
Stein speciphically cites god as part of his position and a part of ID. God from a scientific, standpoint can't be proven or disproven. God can't be tested or experimented on. Thus ID isn't science.
Stein makes the majority of scientist look like a singular mass of god hating, morons, who fear religion.
His own ignorance on the theory of evolution, and attacks on Darwin prove that he is paraniod and deluded.
I just lost all my respect for Ben, i know why hes making this movie, is to push what he wishes to believe are true in his religion, he is not sticking up for a universal 'God'
one is innocent until ones know between right and wrong, which means tat only children and babies fit in that area (including people with mental illness)
God does does not move through yours any anyone ones wines only through Faith we brought death onto ourselves in the garden of Eden and then frort we sin and sin and sin and the price for sin is death, babies who dont know what is right from wrong enter the kingdom of heaven with God, as I will say God lets us chioce to follow or reject him you either go to hell with all other evoulionist or go to heaven with a God wo loves you and cares for only if you accept him and admit your a sinner
This movie is so full of it. When ever Creationist find they have no evadances for there case, they just simply cry HELP! HELP! International Conspiracy against God!
This movie is so full of it. When ever Creationist find they have no evadances for there case, they just simply cry HELP! HELP! International Conspiracy against God!
There is now contention between belief in god and the scientific community. In fact, I'm quite sure that the majority of scientists actually profess a belief in god (in some form). It is the idea of youung-Earth creationism that is so rediculous that it is considered useless to discuss.
Evolution/Darwinism makes no comments on the origin of life. You can believe theverything started via the big bang, or you can believe that god started the ball rolling.
seems like a low budget movie

ndrthrdr1 8 months ago 7
@ndrthrdr1 Would a REAL scientist say that life on earth started by extra-terrestrial?
automatewithkorn 2 weeks ago
@automatewithkorn Dawkins didn't say that life on Earth came here from other planets. Dawkins didn't say that he thought that life on Earth came from other planets. He only said, when pressed by Stein, that it was a possibility. Dawkins believes that life almost certainly began here. Stein used deception in his dishonest and misleading editing of the interview. Watch the unedited interview and you'll see that Stein is a weasel.
ndrthrdr1 2 weeks ago
@ndrthrdr1 Was it you or was Dawkins who said "believes ..." To make matters worse, Richard is now a believer? How is that possible? Certainly Richard does not believe in anything. What anyone says something is possible, actually person is saying he is possibly wrong about the whole thing and he does not know anything. A true scientist or trained on true scientific methods, then the word, "believe," should be absent in his vocabulary. Do you find yourself saying "... believe..."?
automatewithkorn 2 weeks ago
@automatewithkorn Of course I use the word "believe", I believe that the sun will continue to shine for the next year. I don't KNOW that with 100% certainty, but based on the best evidence available, it seems to be the justified to believe that it will.
Dawkins believes, based on the best evidence available, that life began here on Earth.
ndrthrdr1 2 weeks ago
@ndrthrdr1 theory of evolution is not about how life began but based on darwin's empirical observations he wrote about how species proliferated after life began. Dawkins knows and has admitted on this and other video that he and many scientists acknowledges that a chance for a single celled organism to be created out of a junkyard is a 1 over 10 to the 40,000th power. Unfortunately you are one of many people who think Darwin explained accidental creation.
automatewithkorn 2 weeks ago
@automatewithkorn Where did you get those odds? Did you make them up, or are you simply repeating what someone else made up?
I know that Darwin's ideas were about evolution, not abiogenesis. Your assumption that I don't know this displays your lack of a firm grip on reality.
ndrthrdr1 2 weeks ago
@ndrthrdr1 Another theory to explain away theory of evolution? How about if we delve into Theory of Relativity to explain why Richard Dawkins is a Galactic Fool. Einstein says nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. If Dawkins life coming from another planet is true that Einstein would turn in his grave. But let's bring in Entropy. What idiot would mention abiogenesis without mentioning Entropy?
automatewithkorn 2 weeks ago
@automatewithkorn Dawkins doesn't think that life came to Earth from another planet. He only acknowledged the possibility when Stein kept hammering away with his inane questions.
Why is this so difficult for you to grasp? Frantically looking for reasons to believe that you won't actually die and cease to exist?
ndrthrdr1 2 weeks ago
@ndrthrdr1 the number was mentioned in the video. I have homework assignment for you. I will give two days to complete the assignment. Where in the video was 1 over 10 to the 40,000th power mentioned? Show exact minute and seconds from the video. You will be graded and given extra points if you show good evidence. I teach at a local college.
automatewithkorn 2 weeks ago
@ndrthrdr1 Please remove "believe" from your vocabulary and from any written material you have created past and present. Do not use the word in the future. Possible substitutes are "think" or "based on evidence." Now you are ready to begin the journey of becoming a true scientist. When you drink as sip of water, start your journey as true scientist with water test kit testing each drop. When you need to breathe, carry around oxygen canister since air might contain virulent material.

But if you can't, despite ALL our science advancements, then that shows evolution has serious problems.
nvsvictor 2 years ago
not really, fly's haven't changed that much in the last few million years even though we have. But I don't think we're scientifically advanced enough to recreate DNA yet, I mean we've only just finished mapping it. Maybe in a couple of milleniums or so.

"But I don't think we're scientifically advanced enough to recreate DNA yet, I mean we've only just finished mapping it. Maybe in a couple of milleniums or so."

i think everyone misses the point of this film though. Its really not a matter of what you believe or dont its about freedom of speech. The movie shows guys who got fired or "expelled" rather, for just throwing out the possibiity of intelligent design. and thats messed up.
llongmire 2 years ago 2
It's really not. I study at a university where some cutting edge research is being done in bio-engineering, and not a single one of their results would be possible without the solid foundation of evolution.
Darwins theories are the reason we have engineered crops and many form of medicine.
Also, Darwins theories have been modified by scientists to fit new data, but to reject it like ID does is just stupid
"the possibiity of ID" is so absurd that I see no fault in you loosing your job over it
Superslemmet 1 year ago
Just want to clarify one thing. ID is an absurd statement in todays age, with the current data we got.
If I lived 200 years ago, I would say the statement of general relativity was absurd, consider the data I would have had available then.
In the future, new data might come up that put the notion of ID in a new light, but as it is now, there is nothing I know of that speaks in its favor. So leaning on that theory is absurd, since there are other theories that have better supporting data.
Superslemmet 1 year ago
""the possibiity of ID" is so absurd that I see no fault in you loosing your job over it "

@Superslemmet so you dont believe in freedom of speech then. llongmire 1 year ago
Superslemmet 1 year ago
@Superslemmet Yeah, my bad. I should have been more specific i was referring to the individuals seen in the film. Your obviously talking about children teachers (K-12 maybe?) When i said tachers i meant College, not grade school. Because by the time your in college your brain is developed enough to where if a teacher says something you dont agree with well then you can just go against it. Unless the teachers a dick of course and fails for not agreeing with him then yes he should be fired.
llongmire 1 year ago
@llongmire At first glance, I would agree that the situation is different at college. However, even in college a teacher is firmly in a position of authority, and by abusing that authority, he is doing harm the the students, and in the long run, to the economic and social growth of the USA.
I think that is a big enough issue that the teacher should be held accountable for the harm he is doing to his fellow humans.

Madz1987 7 months ago
@llongmire Umm no.
Mrxb0x 3 months ago
I am fine with people learning about creationism, but keep it out of public schools, evolution, survival of the fittest has been proven from years of research, creationism has not, learn that in sunday school, at church. Intligent design, or creationism is not science, it is a religious belief, stop trying to brand it as science.
AiR1890 2 years ago
It HAS NOT been proved, hence it is a THEORY, i cant believe how many people miss this crucial element to the "THEORY of evolution". Your comment if anything proves that it IS being taught wrong because suddenly everyone jumps to the conclusion that there is no other way. Let's bring Native Aboriginal spirituality and Hindu philosophy into the classroom then as well.

Are the answers of faith and those of science in competition with each other? Or is a co-existence even possible, in which of the two approaches to reality retains its validity? Where do I come from? Where am I going? What is the aim of my life? What is its origin? What is its meaning?
claudiafdz10 2 years ago
Darwin challenged the statements of his time. So must we. Where do we come from? How did the world come into existence? These are fundamental questions that concern everyone. Those who hold the Christian faith, and theologians, especially, have to make a serious attempt what it means that we believe "in God, maker of heaven and earth". A series of scientific disciplines, such as biology and physics, are looking for answers to the question of how the world and man came into being.
claudiafdz10 2 years ago
No one can prove how life originated on the first place. Darwin studies life after its origin. How the species modified, changed, "evolved", as you say, throughout the years. That theory now has become everything, yes, it has many correct facts, but nowdays, people does not face the fact that the ideals must change over time, to become closer to the truth. Otherwise teachers nowdays would be teaching their students that the earth is flat nowdays.
claudiafdz10 2 years ago
FockerTheLopper, just for the record, IT HAS TO DO WITH EVOLUTION. You see, Darwinism says that life originated by chance, that a single cell came to "life" from the proper elements such as Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, etcetera, etcetera. But if look at it, there are billions, infinite probabilities of not happening life as a result to that process. In his book "The Origin of the Species", Darwin does not explain how life happened on the first place, in fact no one exactly knows.

Consider a cumulative tally of how many would currently be dead if medical technology hadn't added six decades to our life expectancy.
Medical technology is inherently atheistic. The theistic equivilent to medicine is to pray for recovery.
Also, Stalin did not carry out an atheistic genocide. He carried out a communist genocide, of which atheism happens to be part.

S0NYSUX 3 years ago
That's not what intelligent design scientists are disagreeing with. The kind of evolutionary theory they're objecting the kind that says "humans evolved from microorganisms".
coramunroe 3 years ago
Evolution is evolution. We all know that evolution occurs...like you just pointed out in your response to theirs. The only difference between what many people want to call micro and macro is time. It may be hard for some to see this gradual process in vast amounts of time, but small steps can lead to large distances.
kevinlikesboys 3 years ago
I don't think the difference is time; the difference is whether or not the species changes. I understand that a mosquito can evolve into another kind of mosquito, but it's an entirely different thing for a mosquito to evolve into a bird. They're a completely different species.
coramunroe 3 years ago
If a population of mosquitos can evolve into another "mosquito" that it cannot successfully mate with, would you consider that to be another species? Change in a population over time....
Who says that mosquitos evolve into birds anyways?
kevinlikesboys 3 years ago
I don't think I'd consider that another species.
I used the "mosquitos to birds" example randomly. It's just as silly as saying humans evolved from microscopic organisms.
What kind of background are you coming from anyways? Just out of curiosity...
coramunroe 3 years ago
That is what I figured....
You have just been given any relevant background information on my previous post. And why does it seem so silly to you that humans may have evolved from much more simple organisms? Because we are "irreversibly complex"? Or maybe because bananas have ridges on them in just the right places to fit our hands? What kind of background are you coming from?
kevinlikesboys 3 years ago
Whatever I tell you about my background, I expect you will shoot down, so I will remain silent on that.
That evolutions seems silly to me because of the information I've heard. Based on that information, I've chosen to believe it's not possible for humans to evolve from microscopic organisms, though I do believe that humans were probably very different from what they are now when they first came into being.
coramunroe 3 years ago
Your choice. Maybe you should dive into your own research on the subject a bit further. The majority of theistic scientists have done the time and would not agree with your position. I'm not saying that you are "wrong" by believing that "macro" evolution is silly, just stating that it's hard to believe you have done any real research on the issues. The evidence is there any overwhelming. It has only grown stronger over the past 150 years. Who did you listen to for your information?
kevinlikesboys 3 years ago
Scientist question darwanism all the time?? Lets be real here. Scientist question darwins theory of evolution within the context of evolution. I.e are there different mechanisms other than natural selection driving it? Scientists almost never question darwin within the rhelm of what he is saying may be utterly and totally wrong. If atheism is a religon then this show that self righteous athiest are no different or more tolerant that so called religous people.
sleepy2k3 3 years ago
Just like any other scientific theory, every scientist working in the area of evolutionary biology is always attempting to falsify evolution.

Exactly Cursed!
kevinlikesboys 3 years ago
Well God is not science!!! Nor is God even real. But even if he was that is how he made the complexity of life.
johuth 3 years ago
you're allowed to question darwinism, btw, scientists do it all the time. but there is a difference between questioning and stupidity, and stubborness, one has evidence to back it up, the other has nothing to support it what so ever. and if you think scientists are all these extreme athiests, they preach athiesm, live athiesm, and die athiesm. you'd be wrong, in fact, 40% of all scientists have a belief in some sort of god/gods, and for some it vindicates their belief.

No, rather salient analogy as solving a murder requires research and evidence. I like to put the same effort into believing in God. To not do so, to have 'blind faith', is like crossing your fingers and hoping for the best. I like to think that detectives do more than that when attempting to solve murders.

Great movie. Very powerful message. Standing ovation to Ben Stein.
rareone4 3 years ago
creationism isn't a fucking science. only a fool, religious or otherwise, would belive that. religion is the belief in any kind of truth that allows one to be a better person. i'm an athiest, but i would say my religion comes via people like Vonnegut and Faulkner. mythology is the exaltation of outdated stories by those who must have their lessons dealt to them in "the tortoise and the hare" fashion. truth cannot exlipse truth. if someone is really religious they can accept the truth of science.
AutumnDevi 3 years ago
I disagree, until your last statement. Intelligent design scientists look for truth as much as some atheist ones can.
coramunroe 3 years ago
Intelligent design is NOT science. Scientifc theory can be tested & repeated.
Stein speciphically cites god as part of his position and a part of ID. God from a scientific, standpoint can't be proven or disproven. God can't be tested or experimented on. Thus ID isn't science.
Stein makes the majority of scientist look like a singular mass of god hating, morons, who fear religion.
His own ignorance on the theory of evolution, and attacks on Darwin prove that he is paraniod and deluded.

I just lost all my respect for Ben, i know why hes making this movie, is to push what he wishes to believe are true in his religion, he is not sticking up for a universal 'God'

ohhhh man i didn't know ben stein was a christian. i just lost respect

What's wrong with proposing an alternative theory?
coramunroe 3 years ago
Nothing is wrong with proposing an alternative theory. If it is pseudo-science it will be revealed very quickly. Which in this case, it was.
kevinlikesboys 3 years ago
There is now contention between belief in god and the scientific community. In fact, I'm quite sure that the majority of scientists actually profess a belief in god (in some form). It is the idea of youung-Earth creationism that is so rediculous that it is considered useless to discuss.
Evolution/Darwinism makes no comments on the origin of life. You can believe theverything started via the big bang, or you can believe that god started the ball rolling.
Neither views contradict evolution.
