I am Brazilian. I just saw Pele and Garrincha by videos tapes, I saw their best moves, goals etc ... In the case of Maradona, I followed his career, as Zico, Zidane, Cruiff, Platini, Romario, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Messi. Im absolute certainty, that Maradona was the best, it was plastic, passionate, and brave warrior. The guy was too much. Nobody did what he did in a world cup in 86 or pele at 58, or Eusebio em 66 or Romario in 1994, or zidane in 98or ronaldo in 2002. I think he was the best!

@thefriendsandpj Yes I agree they fixed the 78 result with Peru, where they had to win by 4 clear goals which wouldn't have happened without the fix.
The Quarters and particularly the Semi Finals, with Belgium non existent offsides, showed the FIFA Fix.
It's just one of those things, a South American Hispanic Country, playing in an Hispanic South American Country FIFA likes (almost) home wins.
That's why they were given the AZTECA almost throughout, and were set up to stay at high altitude.

It's not shown in thie video, but that one is shown in some of the other videos here. If Belgium is winning 2-0, no way Argentina even with Maradona would recover. I remember this clearly at the time; and I still have my own recordings of the match.

Lo que viste en México 86 no es ni el 10% de la habilidad extraordinaria que demostró en la liga italiana. Ni hablar del campeonato juvenil de 1979, que ganó Argentina. Se los pasaba a todos de taquito, dando una demostración única de habilidad.

That first goal disallowed for hanball actually comes off Valdano's left-sided ribcage and cannons in. You can clearly see it in the repaly (not shown on this vid) that it was a fair goal. Then the same player misses an absolute sitter about 5 from time. Argentina should've won this game quite comfortably 3 or 4 - 0.
Gottta love John Motson's slightly vindictive and bias (but otherwise fair) moment of commentary when he yells "They're not getting away with it this time!" re: the "handball"

Argentina wasn't that dominant. In the first half Belgium were through on goal with two players twice. They would've probably scored those chances, but were wrongfully called back for offside. In the end off course only one player deserved to win the cup, but I can't help but wonder what would've happened.
