Hello Lovely! You helped me in the past via this video turtorial and you are an angel! I do have one more question! I have gone back to touch up my roots and for some strange reason my roots are still brassy yellow and I did the same procedure as the rest of my head... I even did a bleach bath...I dont want to kill my poor scalp or hair follicles but do you have any advice? I've gotten my hair white before, and a friends as well, and I prefer to use the blue bleach powder because the pigment acts kind of like a pre toner, my hair is naturally almost black, and I use 30 vol, with the blue bleach for about an hour, then I'll wait a week and do conditioner treatments in that time, then do it again, for about 20 min, then use toner, and I found that to be the best method for dark hair

I've done black to silver hair, I found it to be SO much easier than removing blue colour from hair. I find it harder because i have to do several applications of bleach due to the green shade it always turns after only one application of bleach :/

For the silver, I bleached my hair to a very pale yellow, and then applied a mixture of one part Special Effects Blue Velvet to three parts Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner and left it on for about ten minutes before rinsing it out. It comes out this pale blue-toned lilac and it lasts for ages!

I politely disagree about the purple shampoo. Personally, I prefer a blue/purple silver and I've never gotten uneven color out of shampoo. Then again, I usually leave it on for about 2 minutes, constantly scrubbing. The extra time must allow the color to apply more evenly. Since most purple shampoos have such a low level of dye in them, I never really worry about my hair being too purple. From my experience, if you leave it on as long as it suggests and rinse well, it turns out perfectly silver.

i think blue bleach actually tones ur hair a bit, your hair won't be as yellow/red/ginger-ish as if ur using the white bleach

Note- Any protein treatment is a good protein treatment after over-processing your hair! You want to be careful, because if you make the hair too hard it's really difficult to restore the follicle to a balanced moisture/protein ratio, but protein is a YES!

And the Wella Koleston high lift color will not work over a dyed hair, just on natural hair, like your roots and a virgin hair.

And I would recommend Joico Violet Shampoo and conditioner, you will get a very nice and even color after using it.

And a question, how long do you leave the Directions color in your hair before you wash it out? My hair got REALLy blue after using it and I left it in for 15 min. Maybe too long? haha

The Product i've been using to bleach my hair is Ion Conditioning powder, and it does leave it blond, but I can't get it to turn Silver. You are right, the Shampoo is a butt!! The one I use is Joico Color Endure, and it did work, but after I stoped using it, it all disappeared. ;~; Sad Roxxy.

@leightonwalls No problem, hair lightening or dying will not cause you to go bald. However over processing the hair will cause breakage, but it will grow back. (Anything you do to the hair above the root, will not affect what goes on below the root - to the follicle) Bleaching and dying has been done for decades, for example Marilyn Monroe did not go bald.

I want to dye my roots and get that beige/ash tone using the Kolastin Perfect(My hair is already light blonde with roots), you said you need to mix it with 6% peroxide, if I applied that mixture all over would it lift my roots and give me an ash tone all over?
