@racedrum11 You can get them anywhere. Just be careful with where you buy them. Make sure they're eyes and mouths are clear (except if they're shedding.) and make sure their scales are intact. You can get them in many colors; mine is a charcoal :3
I see corn snakes when I'm Pheasant hunting and I can never bring myself to kill one. They're just so darn beautiful. I've killed a few rattlers walking up and down Corn fields but I just love Corn Snakes. Very pleasant to look at.
Don't take this the wrong way but that vivarium is way to small and that mouse is a little big.If you want your corn snake to last longer than why not try to make his/her meals a bit smaller or get a bigger vivarium!Just giving advice.
Not sure why your flagging it, this is what happens in real life. Ouside the cage. The snake catches it and constricts it until it dies. Then eats it. It's nature at work
Don't take this the wrong way dude.. I have a corn snake of my own.. And a couple more.. But.. That cage is wayyy too freaking small and that rat was wayyy too freaking big.. Yes, it may like live feedings but I'm pretty sure it doesn't enjoy the tiny cage. try a smaller selection of mouse also. Maybe a baby feeder mouse? Cages aren't too much of an investment. You can do it. The snake would live longer if you had atleast a 10 gallon tank, and smaller feedings weekly. Just givin advice
@HelloKittyKillah He was transfered to a bigger cage shrtly after this vid was taken, and if you would read the description you would know I had no smaller mouse at a time...
I'm not a snake expert. But i always wanted to know, when the mouse goes in the mouth what happens in there? I know snake break the bodies of their food. But then what?
i got a baby corn about two weeks ago and it wont eat i think the mouse is to big it is frozen i got the mouse from petco and it is the smallest size what do i do i dont want it to die and my dad told me once when i was little that some snakes dont eat when they shed and it is shedding
@Tayjar88 If he's shedding there is a high probability that he won't eat, but he should right after he shed. You can also leave the pinky in his cage (after he sheds) overnight, and he should it it. Also one other method is to leave a DEAD pinky with pierced head (so some blood and other stuff comes out a little - it helps when snake smells guts ;p) overnight. One of those methods should work ;).
@Tayjar88 if you have little lizards in your area feed him baybe lizards i had the same problem with my cornsnake he was from petco to he wouldent eat any frozen mice. i even had the employees try to feed him nothing. lizards worked for a year then he ate live mice.
@Tayjar88 Also sometimes a new environment /moving puts a bit of stress on the snake. my snake was 10 months, and when he came to my house he wouldn't eat for 2 months, so that could also be it as well. once your snake settles is usually when they'll start to eat
I don't understand how anyone can feel sorry for the mouse or thinks its cruel considering hundred of thousands of animals are slaughtered on a daily basic to make us delicious sandwiches, its only natural.
@simplybusby It depends on what you are feeding your snake. If you are keeping your snake on pre-killed, or frozen dead, then they will probably notice that there is no need. But snakes natural instincts tell them to stop the breathing of their prey by coiling when they eat their 1 live meal.
It makes me wonder why people actually feed their snakes live animals. It's cruel and dangerous for the snake and to film it happening is wrong. This is why I stick to frozen food for my snakes.
@ShadowColours Everyone has their own opinions on the matter, and what they believe is right/wrong. Corn snakes feed on live mice in the wild, are you saying that's wrong, as well?
the snake would prefer live. You should feed frozen thawed because it is safer for you in the long run. ON another note; the corn in this video is probably not ready for a mouse that big. He had to work way to hard for that.
I have a 1 1/2-year-old female Motley and I have to say, even though it would happen in nature, feeding is the worst part on owning a corn snake. Although, it's somewhat important to keep an eye on the snake as it kills it's prey, because mice can fight back!
Have you ever gaven him frozen mice does he still coil around it like that my corn never coils or doesn;t know how too lol. seems like he tries but doesn;t do it right
It seems snakes have every factor to their advantage. Not only is a fast strike excellent for clamping on the prey, it also startles them into crying out, so less air in their lungs.
One question, what where to happen if you gave your snake some sort of food that was to big for it? Seeing as i never heard of snakes that eat stuff bit by bit, im curious.
@GRuBaZzZ so does it take about a year for a corn snake to get that big or does it vary? I have a little one i just cant wait till she gets that big, corn snakes colors just seem to pop out more. Plz answer back ASAP ty ;)... and do corn snakes prefer pre-killed or live kills at that size?

i wish my corn snake would stop being a pussy and eat some mice that big... asshole just lets the mouse run around in the tank and doesn't do anything

can anyone tell me the difference between a corn snake and an actual ball python
which one is better as a pet?
corn snakes dont get as big ive heard.
thanks
wutangkings7 1 year ago
@wutangkings7 Corn Snakes are smaller, but longer, and much faster.
Ball Pythons get bigger around, and about 4ft long. Balls are typically the better pet for their lax nature. Can be picky eaters, though.
