I cried like a baby when I learned of Rick's death. I'm not ashamed to admit it either. Pink Floyd's music has gotten me through some really hard times. It felt as though a good friend had died.
So many of these comments are spot on ... I bet Gilmour had to push him to sing this song, but his voice is so much better than Dave's it's a great pity he didn't handle a few more of the vocals on those last 2 PF albums. He actually has a really interesting and understated vocal style - pity he had so many guest vocalists on his solo work.
*Raises his glass up* A toast to Richard Wright for his genious work in & out of Pink Floyd. May he shine on with Syd Barrett. they may have left this world, but they will still live on in the hearts of all Pink Floyd fans around the world. Syd was our crazy diamond, But Rick is definitely a great gig in the sky. Thank you Richard for all your dedication.
I write and produce hip-hop & r&b music, but one of my biggest influences, inspirations, and music loves is Pink Floyd. Their music takes me where no other musical entity can. Miss you Rick R.I.P.
This song is sooooo beautiful. I really think it has the same caliber as the Dark Side of the Moon songs. The SOLO is just amazing. R Wright and DG are just amazing talent......
now you and syd can play togeather again rip rick the world is a darker place without you see you on the dark side of the moon but we all wish you were you were both of you were still here
I really do agree! In the entire life of the group Rick's lirycs were kinda a 2nd place. This song proves TOTALLY the contrary. Rest in peace dear Richard; you will be always alive in the hearts of your fans.
Just found this now! Can't tell you how many times I've put in "Remember That Night" dvd, disc 2, since Richard's passing, to listen to this. An amazing tribute for an absolutely incredible keyboardist and songwriter! He is missed! Thank you!
I am so angry at myself at 68 years of age that I thought when the WALL came out that it was just a song - it was NOT - we do have thought control and we have had it insiduously for as long as we have had media. Look up Isabelle Iserbyt and John Taylor Gatto. These bricks in the wall drink beer, swear and watch TV and we women let them, I let my partner - you young ones - please do not make the same mistakes to trust what is force fed you in school.and in Universities.and in the corporations
Thank you for including one of the post processed Pompeii images I posted long ago. I couldn't have chosen a finer place to use them. I feel like I added to the tribute... so Cheers.
It has been too difficult to look at images of Richard, I miss his humour and his musical genius. A beautiful person, who made beautiful music. My heart goes out to his family and close friends... and to all of us who miss him.
A great song with powerful words (& not written by Roger)... a fitting tribute.
I feel very, very fortunate to have seen Richard sing this song live before he died. I'm glad I cherished the moment as much as I did. That was the greatest concert of my life, and probably always will be. Miss ya, dude.
Love the photography love Pink Floyd rest in peace Richard Wright , loved floyd since i was 13 im 23 now they are my favourite band learnt so much in the last 10 years and still learning
Its RicK or Richard, and No David didn't play sax for the Floyd. They hired Dick Perry, the same Dick Perry who plays with them and has been playing with them since Dark Side... he's from the same Cambridge neighbourhood as David and Roger.
Gilmour said he learned to play sax when he hired his son's music teacher to come to the house to give private lessons. The 24yr old teacher had no idea who DG was and had never heard of Pink Floyd.
The loss of Rick came as such a shock since most of us had no idea he was even ill. He was very significant to Pink Floyd's sound and will be dearly missed.
I love this song so much. Rick had such a soothing voice. I pray his soul will rest in peace for all eternity. I miss him so much! Thank you Rick for all the beautiful music you left for me to enjoy. Love, Savanah

I feel like crying when I hear this song now that he is dead... or pretty much any song with Rick on the lead.
It's a damn shame that there was not much public remembrance of him while people make a circus out of the death of a pedophile since Thursday!
