I recall my dad watching All In The Family after a long days work at Ford Motor Company. He watched TV while eating dinner prepared by mom. The best was when Archie and George Jefferson clashed on the same episodes. Two of TV's greatest bigots. Great show.

Yeah, I think most missed the fact that this show was spoofing the ignorance Archie exhibited.

Over the years he even began to learn from his stupidity. Which is more then the neo cons I suppose.

All in The Family seemed okay because of its pushing the envelope of political views on sitcoms. Archie seemed to portray what is today called "The old man always complaining about the world". It doesen't really click with me; i'm more of a sarcasm and slapstick kind of guy. As for Archie Bunkers Place, i've never seen it but it looks as if it wasan't as successful as Family. Both shows seem okay but none I would go crazy about. However the theme song was an unforgotten classic in my view.
