  • this car sinks like a lead weight

  • Of course you can't escape a sinking car... Just ask Maryjo Kopechne's family...

  • breaking the window sounds way too hard

  • 1:09 ITS THE TITANIC!

  • 2 minutes???

  • if u watch the whole episode they show u how to break the glass as they said they cant break the glass because the pool belongs to a school, the high voltage was to act like they broke it without breaking it

  • @Natter91 They clearly stated that the high voltage switch is to simulate breaking the window, because they couldn't break the window in a pool.

  • I realize that. But if they couldn't perform their test realistically there, they should have found somewhere else. If your test has any part that says "Pretend I did this another way, then lets go on!", then it's a worthless test.

  • It's not a worthless test. This, and the similar Top Gear test, prove two things:

    1. Get out fast

    2. If you can't get out fast, calm down, get ready, break the window, and swim up as fast as you can

  • Top Gear went out to test the idea of letting your car equalize before opening the door. They performed an accurate, realistic test (apart from the divers).

In this test, they said you should break the window. But they didn't do that. How can they recommend an action they did not test? That is the same as those who tell you to let it equalize and settle to the bottom.

Whatever good advice you can draw from the test (which comes entirely from Top Gear anyway), *it was not a valid test*.

  • The tests proved two things:

    1. Get out fast

    2. If you can't get out fast, calm down, get ready, break the window, and swim up as fast as you can

  • 3. If the above fail, die a horrible death.

  • @Natter91 This was just one of several methods they demonstrated. In the full episode, Mythbusters did the same test as Top Gear, and also demonstrated that you have to hold back your panic and wait for the pressure to equalize, or you will use up your oxygen struggling.

They also talked about tempered glass, and how to break it underwater using a shattering tool (it wont break by pounding it). They did it in a water tank at their shop. They just couldn´t do it in the pool for obvious reasons.

  • Breaking glass is DIFFICULT...really...and waiting till it fills up may be fine...if it's not going down 50' or more ..... best is try at least too GET OUT FAST via forcing the door or winding down the window.

  • You have to let it sink to the bottom and let the pressure level out. from there you can open the door

  • this was filmed at my school's pool hahaha

  • I wouldn't break the window. I bet, when you break it, it will turn to small shards and with the speed at which the water come it.. i bet it will cut u

  • getting cut by glass is better than drowning.

  • I can only hold my breath underwater for 2 minutes.

  • If you get in cold water it wil be more like 30 sec, thats because the cold water burns your air

  • cauk all the holes, sink to the bottom, call 911, easier?

  • What if you are in an area where cell phone signal is dead? You have some injuries? Car fills too fast with water-still wanna wait for 911? How fast do you think it would take for you to die from Carbon dioxide by you breathing only the air in a sealed compartment, hm?

  • actualy a few hours it would take.

  • did you know that the air in a phone booth is as much air in a suba tank?? i think you would last a day

  • if there no holes than how would sink??

  • well, the interrior is like 2/4 of the cars weight, the rest (engine, trucnk, etc.) is more than the interior, so the engine will make it sink

  • Grats Greg. Been reading your comic a long time. I actually miss the days when it was insane and very UNreal XD Maybe you should make a spin off comic called UNreal life. That fallows the exploits of the cast members who no longer show up.

  • once i saw this eppisode, I started noticing that he wears that shirt all the fricken time. I can't think of the paticular eppisodes, but I've seen it more than like 5 times.

  • Is that the music from Mount & Blade playing when the car is lowered into the water?

  • Now THAT sounds like a Myth worth busting.

  • Yes.

  • What happens if two people are wearing the "Totally Better" shirt in the same place at the same time? Would it cause a paradox creating a rip in the time/space continuum?

  • Greg, that is super flippin' sweet. I love your comic by the way, but I really miss seeing Tony and Dave.

Hope to see another video of another famous person soon. Little by little we can TAKE OVER THE WORLD! *cough* or at least just give cool t-shirts to famous people.

  • Woot go Real Life!

  • Whoa, I can't believe I didn't notice that when I was watching it the other night.

  • Note to self, buy that T-shirt.

  • Go Reallife Comics!

  • I must admit, that is freaking awsome...

Real Life and Mythbusters make a great match...

  • LOL. That's awesome.

  • Wow RealLife's products make it big time hehe awsome

  • I told post in the RLC forums but I shall do so here. Totally Awesome, way to go Greg!
