Dr. Gary Conrad: "It was once believed that the flap would re-adhere permanently. However, the unique connective tissue of the cornea and a lack of blood vessels limit its ability to fully heal even years after the procedure... A trauma to the face, such as impact from an automobile air bag provides enough force to dislodge the flap, reopening the cornea, infecting it with dirt and debris, and causing instant loss of visual acuity."
I am the author of this video.... those are my eyes being surgically corrected. Just so everyone knows, it's been almost 4 years and I have had no complications from this procedure. My eyes remain 20/20.
Lasik destroyed my life. Ever since my surgery over one year ago I have had constant eye pain and terrible vision. Don't believe what the lasik docs tell you this procedure is not safe and eveerybody that gets it done has side effects/complications. I never imagined how bad life could suck before lasik, lasik sucks!
@lasikruinedme - I'm so sorry you had a bad experience with lasik. Mine was fine... I haven't had any complications since I got it done in 2006. I really am sorry it didn't work for you. I can't imagine the pain of getting that kind of result from something that is deemed safe. I guess it sadly doesn't work for everyone.
The speculum is uncomfortable. But, no pain from the procedure. Yes there have been bad results. But it is the doctors fault. These machines have such safety and redundancy built into them that if the tech does their job of correctly testing and adjusting power of the equipment before the treatment it is almost impossible to have a malfunction cause a problem. I can tell this is a B&L Technolas 217. One of the best. Check out your doctor. If you get a "bad vibe" from him, Go else ware.

It also treats the surface of the cornea but unlike other techniques, requires no assistance from manual surgical instruments. It is the only technique to use exclusively the Excimer Laser from start to finish.
Thank god I had PRK.! I suffered alittle more in the 3 day after with pain...My vision did not happen until after a thought it would never happen...but ultimately I am now perfect. BLESS PRK & MY DOCTOR. :) 2 EYES WIDE OPEN BABY!
Lasik surgery has ruined the vision of Tiger Woods exgirlfriend Kashmira Karanjia, Regis Philbin, Kathy Griffin to name just a few. Tiger Wood's vision has also required further "enhancements" which are NOT a good sign. Google lasik suicide, lasik disasters, lasik lawsuits, lasik fraud, lasik dry eye syndrome, lasik evil, lasik conspiracy, and you will understand why!
I hope you are informing patients that the flap never heals and that 80% of the nerves are permanently destroyed...Journal of Refractive Surgery justifies this...Lasik, all docs know is not as safe as PRK, so why are you pushing Lasik? Answser: GREED!
@dkantis - I am not a doctor. I am just a normal person who got this procedure done in 2006... my brother videotaped the tv screen in the waiting room.
Would have been nice to know that before surgery, and not find out after. I never would have had it done had I known then what I know now. LASIK: The more you know, the worse it looks!
According to Dr. Robert Maloney, no one has lived long enough for them to determine if the flap will ever heal. Flaps have been lifted 13 years after lasik. They have been accidentally dislodged years after surgery. Once you have a lasik flap, you ALWAYS have a lasik flap. Careful with those lasiked eyes!

'No Touch'™ laser vision correction.
This technique evolved from PRK.
It also treats the surface of the cornea but unlike other techniques, requires no assistance from manual surgical instruments. It is the only technique to use exclusively the Excimer Laser from start to finish.
