SRV and jeff beck were together on stage in central park back in the 90's they talked stevie,clapton and carlos santana about becks style, i remember srv saying, he can out play just about anybody, but this guy (beck) has actually patented all his music, nobody alive can make his guitar sing like this guy, i've tried, but jeff has a 35 year head start on most of us.

The original key is c sharp minor so if you think it's sped up check the pitch .. As I recall when my band learned it in 1972 it was very upbeat and fast . So in this debate I vote for proper tempo as played here . No bets except bragging rights. Bring it on and play it over and over.

@benvye I thought it was a bit fast too, but I haven't heard it in years. There is a tune by Brian Auger called "Truth" that is the exact same song, but slower. Maybe that is what yer thinkin of.

@Janko1492 No, this one is definitely fast and a half step higher in pitch. I think it was recorded off a turntable that was turning faster than 33 1/3 rpm. Compare it with pinkmoonchild08's post of Situation and you will hear the difference.

Our band did this song for years. It was always a show stopper and we were always asked what that song was. Great feel. However, I always thought the lyrics could have had just one or two more tweaks. Top notch musical composition and structure...

No problem. They always thought it was an original and were surprised it was Jeff Beck. We played this song from 1975 to 2000 (when I stepped out of playing). We kept it in our set list as it was always one of the top two or three tunes to get a reaction. A real uptempo accessible jazz feel that was easy to dance to. The demographic would probably now be 35+...

Bobby Tench! One of rocks' top 10 male vocalists of all time & nobody knows who the hell he is. When he hooked up with Steve Marriott, you had two of the top 10 in the same group. This version of the JBG was just great!!

This version is faster. I have been playing this tune for over 30 years. There are also some subtle differences than the version on rough and ready. Sounds like an out take. It is JB for sure.

actually, it doesn't sound like bob tench, it sounds like alex ligertwood. he was actually jeff's original choice for vcls.

I originally had this in an eight track CD-4 version when it first came out. The stereo system I had used a joy stick that could isolate any one speaker. I used to isolate Jeffs guitar part and crank the sound so loud the walls would shake. The jackoff in the upstairs apartment would bang on the steam pipe and I'd just increase the volume even more. Jeffs guitar sounded incredible but I ended up blowing out the speaker.

this clocks in at 5:05, the album version clocks in at 5:25. So it must be sped up by 6%. Bob Tench almost sounds like someone else.

After all these years, if one can't tell the diference between the original, and you're right, this is the album version, and that

all the dude that uplaoaded it had to do was turn up the tempo, on a Girard, direct drive turntable, while conecting to CD, and the rest is what you hear. I just played my album on my turntable,and for the 3007 time, it's the same.
