Portlandia is the most "spot on" series I have ever seen. I laugh all day remembering some of the skits. My daughter (17) loves it too. I'm from a small town in Washington on Puget Sound that is Portlandish. We are very into the video and musical theater culture of the PNW, so that might explain why we "get" this show and can laugh at ourselves.
Fred you and all these other people are making me laugh again, you are my best tv friends. I wish I could do some writing for you. You would not regret it. My husband and I think of sketches all the time but never write them down. I think it is time we start putting all this on paper.
As funny as this show is, it's seriously making me hate hipsters and vegans.Yes I know they're exaggerating the way hipsters and vegans act but still, they're annoy as all hell in real life too.
i went to the city's farmers' market and as i kept buying stuff, no vendor would automatically get a bag out. they just placed my multiple items on the counter as if i had a magic bottomless bag.
I have lived in Oregon my whole life and have noticed it is mostly the people that move here from all over the country that have created this stigma of people in portland it is really nothing like the show. The show only represents the hipsters which only stay in the cool parts of portland what about cops shooting unarmed people make a episode about portland police getting away with murder.
@demon515 If thats what you think than your mistaken I just hate rude hipsters that move here with certain ideas of what its like based off of a comedy. All my friends are from out of state and I like them.
What is funny is how true this shit is. LOL One time I was at the farmer's market and I had my "RESUSABLE BAG" with me and I brought 2 lettuce heads from a farmer. I asked him for two bags so I can put the lettuce in he got annoyed and said Why don't you put them in the bag you have naked? Environmentalism is no joke in PDX. God forbid you drop a wrapper in the street outhere because you will get lynched! HaHa
@Loltochapel well why do you need two bags to put the lettuce in if you've got a bag already? it doesn't really make sense to ask for more bags, especially if you're going to wash the lettuce anyway when you use it.
just finished the Portlandia BULLETT Magazine interview ...so good if you want to check it out...you can probably just google : BULLET Media and Portlandia....it was so funny

@dbl541 Same here, from Oregon. While some of these things certainly exist, it's not quite how Portland is portrayed.

I feel this way at Trader Joe's all the time. I won't go in there if I don't have my organic hemp bags. I feel so guilty.

@Loltochapel
The fact that you wrote PDX just now, makes you almost as much of a tool as the farmer in your story.

@Loltochapel Mr. Farmer had a point though; aren't you going to wash that lettuce anyway? What does it matter if it's naked?

@AceTracer You wash your lettuce before eating? What a waste of water. Why do you hate Mother Earth?
