  • very systematic

    pushpita.

  • very systematic

  • great film! very helpful :))

  • It is interesting to know if there were actual plans to liberate Berlin in case of complete siege, even with an armed assault from West Germany

  • Only something as low as a Commie would deny shelter, water, food, and personal liberty to a populace.

There is no real difference between a Commie and a Zionist, as they are known to do exactly the same!

There were two reasons that the Berlin Airlift came into being:

    (1) A Communist is an inhuman beast.

    (2) FDR pulled us into WW II in order to aid his Comrade Stalin in the Communist Conquest of Europe.

  • @Live414 communism's an ideology. Stalin's the inhumane beast. and he's not even a communist anyway.

  • @RioGiovanni so are you trying to say that Stalin was a fascist or a capitalist?? 8O

  • @oldinfant23 He was a tyrant who bastardised the marxist-leninist model, creating an authoritarian beaureaucratic system of terror on par with that of the national socialists. He was a fascist, believing in state control and strength in central government as well as the strength of the nation. He wasn't a capitalist, although he was selling grain reserves to the west in return for industrial technology, even as the ukranians starved through famine by Stalin's collectivisation.

  • @Live414 Communism is the greatest ideology in existence. Problem is, it has never existed in practise, and never will. Stalin was not a communist. Judging by your language and tone, you are no doubt at right wing capitalist. Need I remind you, capitalism has brought us recessions and depressions of unimaginable suffering in the last 100 years?

  • hey dude ....amazing video helped me understand this topic well........good job!

  • hey thanks the video was very useful. For my history, since im on a two week medical leave thanks a lot mate!

  • One wonderful piece of film produced by (an) even wonderfuller person(s)! Haters can go die for all I care! :)

  • Thank God that Hitler battled those filthy communists all the way until the bitter end.

  • Germany (like most of the world, by the way) now hates Americans becouse you invaded Iraq, the whole of Europe was devestated by 9/11, we felt closer to the US then ever before, we supported your war in Afghanistan, but when you went into Iraq we were suprised by your blind agression.

I don't hate Americans, you're just like the rest of the world, live your daily lives and care about each other, i do hate Bush (AKA most idiotic president ever) though. It's his fault the world hates the US.

  • Stop the war unless a Democrat is president. I've sat in Germany off and on for 12 years. You had no problem with Billy Clinton Bombing the crap out of Iraq. If he invaded you would support us. You didn't even look at the fact he wrote in his book that he would have invaded if he was in Bush's place.

  • Personally, i did have a problem with it (not with the no-fly zones, with the bombings to punish them for not following UN sanctions), they were unessesary. And yes Bill Clinton wanted to invade Iraq, but not the entire Democratic party was pro-war, there are multiple views inside each party, its the person in office that counts. And yes i would've opposed his invasion of Iraq to, seeing that he would have no reason (even with WMD's present, he could still just have bombed the facilities).

  • So it is, Peace no matter what the cost. How very, "Neville Chamberlain" of you. It didn't matter if over 100000 people were being murdered in Sadam's back yard for speaking against him. Look the other way. If the rest of the world stood with us, it would have led to a better world. We could have stood together against the likes of Mugabe in Zimbabwe and other Tyrants. But, you would rather look the other way. Just like 1938 all over again.

  • Just for information, I don't support that crap jfm487 said. I work with enough Germans who disagree with you and jfm487 needs to look at the hippie look the other way scum in our own back yard before condemning other countries. Merkel has shown to be a friend to the US and a great leader for Germany. No matter what you may think of her.

  • Not no matter what the cost, when Saddam was murdering his own people thats not peace and i didn't want to look the other way, but an occupation was not the solution and everybody knew it and have been proven right, things have only gotten worse since then, terrorists got stronger. If Iraq attacked you, ok you had no choise, but they didn't, using force on that country only brought about more death. Iraq's people could've overthrown Saddam with sufficient US support yet the US stopped it support

  • Not all Germans obviously hate the US, (though a significant amount does, mostly becouse they're naive), just like me many do still like the US just not the policy of Bush, and i still support the war in Afghanistan, Al-Qaeda attacked you (and also many other countries), they had to be taken care of, but unlike Al-Qaeda, Iraq's military (mostly still in ruins from the Gulf War) was no direct threath, and now the west is losing in Afghanistan becouse to many troops were diverted to Iraq.

  • Even Obama after taking McCain's challenge and going to Iraq is telling a different story than you. An occupation is where, WE, have our flag over their capital. When over 9 million Iraqi people walked around with a purple finger because of their FIRST Free election show that we were right. Unfortunately people like you want to look the other way. You losers have never told a different option.

  • Okay so it's not an occupation since then, call it military presence then, but WTF are you on about anyways? I thought we were discussing the justification for the invasion, not the etymology of the current US presence. The Iraqi government and army being relatively stable is a good thing and it looks like the US might even win, i'm just saying the invasion was unessesary to begin with and more lives have been lost then would have if the US didn't try to fix Iraq by waging a war.

  • Removing a man who murdered almost a million. Who would have murdered even more than what was lost in the war before leaving power. Who's Party would have stayed in power murdering was grounds enough. There was Gas found. The intelligence reports on the MWF (That is Gas) not only came from the CIA but MI6. Live with it. Where was your so called alternative? Look the other way wit Sanctions causing them to starve? Too late now, we put in Democracy so live with it.

  • Clearly we disagree on what justifies war, you believe that if a foreign leader abuses his people the US should intervene. But tell me, when does the US plan on invading the dozens of other countries with opressive regimes? It's not the job of the US to play policeman and force regime change on other countries as it sees fit, no matter how unattractive its regime. Anyways, like you said it's too late now, right now i want the US to win as it seems like the best thing for Iraq.

  • Like I said before. You are a look the other way COWARD. If there were fewer people like you. If everyone stood together with us. STOP looking the other way while millions suffered under an oppressive regime, we could together take out people like Mugabe a man responsible for over 2 million deaths behind his own border. Thanks for helping the "Look the other way policy." When I see a Govt. voted by the people I'm proud of the president who didn't look the other way and brought it.

  • If anything should have been done against Iraq it should have been with UN permission, the US has no right to individually decide the fate of a foreign country. Its called hegemony, and you wouldn't approve either if China started liberating other countries and implimenting communism by itself without permission. International law is there for a reason, it doesn't always work but breaking it is no solution either. Ow, and you're a REDNECK IMPERIALIST, since we're calling each other names now.

  • The UN looks the other way. The UN lets anyone be a member nation and have Veto rights. The US Congress voted for it. If you don't like it tough. If you want to cry about UN permission then go after REAL Imperialists. You are Anti-American with the look the other way crowd. Let the imperialist's murder, rape, and pillage. Then support the UN when they send a letter saying stop that. Like I said, "Thanks for supporting the Look the other way." policy.

  • Ok the UN isn't perfect, but i'm not saying we should "look away", just not invade, at the time Iraq posed no significant threath and was not in the process of commiting ethnic cleansing, so invasion was an unnecesary extreme measure.

Look, i propose we either simply disagree or continue discussing in private (whichever you prefer), not becouse i want to undermine your position (i've been wrong before, i admit), but simply becouse we're kind of starting to spam this video with our discussion.

  • Then stop your anti American Comments on a Video showing what the US military stands for. Every one of us joined for the reason American Pilots were flying into Berlin. You have shown no other option like all other Liberals in your argument against Iraq. You admit that democracy is better than Hussein, so just drop it. Hussein did Murder over 100000 Marsh Arabs through cutting off their water supplies in 1998. He was a murderer and you and other Anti US Libs never gave a differnt option.

  • Looking the other way is exactly what people like you and the UN do. In 1990 Iraq invaded Kuwait. When the US went in one month later you sat outside Patch Barracks shouting, "No Blood for Oil." There was NOBODY at the Iraqi Embassy in Bonn shouting "No Blood for Oil" and leave Kuwait. It has also been proven the only two countries that benefited from the UN Oil for food SCAM was Germany and France. Germany was also buying 85% of Iraqi Oil before Desert Storm.

  • Hell i did not, first of all i was to young and second i support the first Gulf War, which is by the way another good example of a better time to overthrow Saddam instead of ten years and a thousand bombardements later in 2003.

  • Guess what? Your beloved UN is the only reason it wasn't finished in 1991. It never really ended. What do you call the No fly zones that continued until 2003? Joy rides!? American and British pilots spent 11 years risking their lives over that place. 9 Million people who were allowed to vote! You just can't beat that.

  • Yeah right, so it took you ten years to decide to not listen to the UN? I said before i supported the no-fly zones but they're of little use without supporting the actual rebellions on the ground. And i'm not anti-US, i just think that in this case you were wrong, and i certainly do appreciate the US in Berlin, and in all of Europe.

  • Billy Boy Clinton wasted 8 years. You are only 19 and when you learn to read the whole story and get both sides you might learn something.

  • The only reason i was against the US invasion back in 2003 is becouse at the time there was no major ethnic cleansing going on in the country at the time, rebellions were crushed and Saddam was not killing his own people for once, if you would've intervened during for example the gas attack in '88 i would understand, but what the US did in 2003 only created more suffering, democracy is a small compensation for the suffering endured by the Iraqi people as a consequense of the US invasion.

  • Stop coming up with lame excuses. Where do you get that information? Not from Iraqi's. I was in Iraq in 2004. They told a different story than what you just came up with. And again I say, what is your so called, other option? He would never step down until he died of old age and the UN would never do anything until he attacked a neighbor again. The people of Iraq would still suffer today. Just because CNN and N-TV refuses to show the Iraqi people who worked with us don't mean they don't.

  • "The people of Iraq would still suffer today", in case you hadn't noticed they're still suffering today, even without Saddam.

And he would not have died of old age before he gave up if the US wouldn't NOT support the Iraqi people when they actually rebelled against Saddam, the US never even tried to pull another Operation Cyclone in Iraq, no just jump right to invasion. And then suddenly in 2003 Bush changes his mind an starts funding the Peshmerga to open up a second front in the invasion.

  • In other words you are on the Anti-USA band wagon.Democracy is a Great thing but you are acting like a Pro-Communist. I think you need to stop insulting this site.

  • Absolutely SUPERB aircraft footage....

Outstanding film of Sunderlands landing & taking-off from Lake Havel - Alas, very brief clips of Bristol.170's, Avro Tudors, Halifax/Haltons & Hastings (Yorks & C.54's

  • Been to the 50th anniversary show at the Strandbad Wannsee, where Catalinas and other flying Boats landed and started on the Havel. It was awesome... I wish they would have had a Sunderland there (the only one I saw is the one in the RAF Museum at Hendon).
