Lithuanian and Latvian are the closest languages to Sanskrit. For example some Lithuanian words are exactly the same as in Sanskrit and they have not changed for at least 5 000 years a thing. These are: Viras (a man),Avis (a sheep),Dhumas (a smoke),Sunus (a son),Padas (a sole)...
Lithuanian, English, all latin american languages are the languages that were derived from SANSKRIT. Sanskrit is the most composed and well defined language.
@harieyutube Actually, that is VERY incorrect. As a linguist, I can tell you that Sanskrit itself comes from an even older language that has been lost for millenia called Indo-European. Every now and again, we find bits and pieces of the old language scattered about, and we can make conjecture as to what the parent word was (like the English word mother, German: muter, Latin: mater, Sanskrit: matar, Indo-European: mater). I'm not challenging you on your opinion about Sanskrit, just the facts.
@musicman45 Sanskrit could have been derived from an older language itself but I think what he was trying to say was from Sanskrit came the modern tongues and that he feels Sanskrit is an excellent language in itself.
@musicman45 Finding out things will not help, till now we don't know the exact root for all languages, its just 'sounds'. Sanskrit is structured sound science. but why all other languages faded away, nobody knows. its all about vibration of the sound 'aa' 'uu' 'mm' between these three vibrations all the vowels have derived from the belly to head.
@harieyutube they all derived from a common ancestor, but not from sanskrit. Studies have concluded that Sanskrit, Latvian, and Lithuanian are among the oldest Indo-European languages, but they did not come from Sanskrit.
annie19645 - India was devided in 1947 to secular India and muslim pakistan. pakistan was subsequently divided into pakistan and bangladesh. So before 1947 it was all India/Hindustan.
Very nice explanation and it is Swamiji's own opinion without any negetivity towards any language. Request Swamiji to clarify on A U M, at 4.08 he says it is Brahma Vishnu Shiva and immediately after he says Brahma Vishnu Mahesh. I beleive we identify Shiva with Supreme Soul who is timeless, human formless, eternal, all powerful, Sada Kalyankari point of light represented by us as Jyotir Ling/Shiv Ling so as to worship where as Trinity, Brahma Vishnu Mahesh are deitiies.
Aramaic is the ancient language of Israel. even then.... Aramaic still derived from other languages of the surrounding areas which take away the natural tone.
Hebrew derives from Aramaic and other Semitic languages.
You can translate that same "mantra" into Sanskrit and it would probably be more effective to the soul. and it would be a lot more powerful as well.
I have heard this notion before; however, the same is true for translating any prayer. The energy-power is "lost in translation". Hebrew and Aramaic are sister language so you can say that the power is retained between the two dialects of Shemitic languages. By the way Shemitic is what the philologists called these dialects in the 19th century.
That's right. Hebrew and Sanskrit are two energy-based languages that carry energy in addition to meaning. Judaism and Hinduism are very close. If you study kabbalah you will find that the same universal truth is expressed in both philosophies.
In kundalini yoga(the mother of all yogas) we say "ong" not om, the difference between reciting mantras and living the yogic science of mantra are very different, the difference between what people use mantras for on a mainstream sense, and those who practice the yoga of mantra. It's easy to use mantra, w/ practice you will learn & gain the benefits, you don't have to know exact pronunciation, it will come to you with practice, try using ong, that is the power of the world we are living in now.
its a bit far fetched to say that Sanskrit basically owns the sounds that can be made in our speech. Sanskrit is a language, including its grammar and intelligent meanings.. the sounds themselves are what is important in a mantra, just pure sound-vibration. no meaning. no language.
on the other hand, by using Sanskrit (or Latin, or Greek or Hebrew, etc) for mantras can evoke the essence of those traditions, which may be way different people prefer different languages for mantras.
Sanskrit is the mother language. It is the oldest spoken and written. It is the most complex and the oldest.... it doesn't make sense. Primitive languages are usually not as complex as modern languages, however in Sanskrit's case, it is the oldest and most complex. It is divinely inspired. God speaks all languages, but what language do you think was originated from god? Sanskrit. It was discovered after divine knowledge was placed in our minds. Ma is eternal sound for mother, etc.
I never heard the actual language, but it dose sound intoresting. I know its been around for over 4,000 years. I'm mostly a naturalist, I use nature to understand how the world works, as in the scientific method, but I guess I know god works in meny deforent ways, The christians take the biblical account literaly, I grew up in that relm, but as I undertood evolution and how it applies to biology I questioned the "creation". But I'm openmided to the idea that god could have sparked evolution!
According to the Vedas, Man was once considered an animal. Today some men are still animals. Divine intervention is where Man was no longer an animal. It is stated that through Agni (fire) Divine knowledge was placed in our minds and literally, through the discovery of fire, man was able to progress. Sanskrit is a natural language, it does not derive from any other language. but every language derives from it in a certain aspect. Look up the word AUM or OM
well biologicly as a species we are stiil animals. But because of the fundementalist right in are countery They take the biblical count as fact, but its dogma to me. I use science as a way to understand how are world works, but fundies are to willfully ignorent to understand modern science. Thats a agrument in USA that will happen for a log time
Sanskrit and Rig Veda were not invented first of all.
Rig Veda was divinely inherited. Sanskrit was the original language of the Aryans. Sanskrit is older than paper... you cannot trace the language to a specific place on earth.
Sanskrit was spoken by the Aryans who inhabited Tajikistan, North India & South India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Nepal and Tibet.
where did you read (someone) that Sanskrit has all the sounds possible to make. No it doesn't. The African language !Xhosa is an easy one to point out, but there are many other sounds in other languages not present in Sanskrit.
I chant the Gayatri mantra and have fallen in love with it. I am not a Hindu, but my Guru is.lol.
The Mantras in Sanskrit has to be precisely chanted without any accents to be effective. I taught myself to speak Bhojpuri a derivative of Prakrit (Raw Sanskrit) language and gained a slight English accent. However it gives me great advantage in reciting Sanskrit Mantras and learning Sanskrit as a language.
Sanskrit is a conscious language, a very high formulated language, probably the oldest. I think Sanskrit is the language of the Demi-Gods who imparted knowledge in the planet Earth. Mantras are so powerful, but even more when you have faith and your heart is pure.
i like this video, Mantras are so mysterious, the language of sanskrit makes these mantras even more mysterious. one syllable in sanskrit can mean hundreds of words in other languages, including english. sanskrit uses every single type of sound that can be made. sanskrit is a very intellectual and complex language to learn, and there are different types. there's classical sanskrit, vedic sanskrit etc....
Sorry, but saying only mantras can be in Sanskrit is doo doo. Allah in Arabic, Eheieh in Hebrew. Any letter from any language can be a mantra. There just has to be some meaning behind it for you. I like Sator Arepo Opera Rotas while doing pranayama myself. Any God Name can be used to identify with the essence. If you embrace all the traditions you will be much happier and richer than limiting yourself. How about Latin, Gregorian chants, etc. In essence, sorry to say it but that's malarky
you must understand sanskrit, and the chakras before making a mantra. Mantras effect your chakras and will effect everything around you. mantras have two compositions, without one it isn't a real or powerful mantra. it must have a meaning, and an effect on your chakras and everything around you, the vibrations from the words create the effect. nothing is a mantra without aum being recited first. aum is the vibration and sound of creation, so when creating or reciting a mantra recite Aum first
@Herumachis But none other language is as powerful and perfect as sanskrit and it is so refined that its the language of the gods. Its like if you ask for something from someone who knows only chinese in english then he will not understand you and will not give you what you want. and thats why mantra (if u chant it you can get what your heart desire) should be in sanskrit and thats how god will hear you, understand you and give you what your heart desires!
@2285utubej@2285utubej Is it true that i have to get the mantra "om kleem krishnaya namah" from a guru before i do it? Becuz i've been doin it for a while.
2. Go with what is known to work, and know what the outcomes will be.
Mantra in Sanskrit is option 2. Mantra in other languages is option 1. Listen to what the man says: each letter has a meaning in itself. Meanings (words) are therefore made up of meanings. It's an incredibly deep process, which cannot be mimicked by any other script/language in existence.
How I wish I had learned this amazing language when I was young! This is precisely my area of interest now and I wish this guy would make more vids going into the subject in greater depth.

@georges25y Hebrew languages can't really be based with science because there are less consanents and vowels and less words to give out meanings.
Just like what acharya shree said -- sanskrit has every alphabets with a particular meaning.
Though hebrew language do have some similar idea to what sanskrit has, such as punctuation and grammar.
