really wondering if this is worth the $ for two experienced festies that have never gone simply because of the horror stories we've heard. when compared to other festivals that hold a dear place in my heart.

Festivals can not exist without "commerce"; that's all commercial means. You pay for your tickets, the bands are making money, you pay for beers at ALL festivals, you pay for food at ALL festivals.......there is nothing more commercial about Bonnaroo that any other festival. Stop hating.

No shit... to be honest, the commercialism hasn't really gotten that bad. People have becoming greedy though, there was so much bunk shit being sold at Bonnaroo '09 it was unreal.
No doubt, I love DMB, but I've seen that show 5 times, always great but always very similar, even if the setlist varies a little. Phish is just 10 times the show. But a DMB/Phish duo would be great no doubt.
I was at Bonnaroo 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. At the time it was this beautiful rather small festival atmosphere unlike any other festival I'd been to. It was the highlight of my year and I really felt like I found my niche there. It was just a great scene where everyone could kick back, chill, and listen to some good tunes. But then the yuppies got ahold of it :( They turned it into this mainstream, popular, comercial, wannabe woodstock of the 21st century. It became everything it stood against....

Yea, my first All Good was 2003, and man it was great. Since then I have only missed one and that was in 06. Great all around festival, although i dont really like the whole park where you camp thing theyre doing now. It just takes that much longer to get out when it over.

yea as it gets closer to june it gets harder to wait around for it, but i live in florida and got to go to Wannee fest so that gave me a taste before Bonarroo which made waiting a little easier.

metallica is the most disappointing headline in my opinon in the 5 years i have been going (this year included) but there are so many good "unknown" bands coming this year. I.E. MGMT, vampire weekend, Ghostland Observatory!!! those are the special shows That I like a bonnaroo, the tents, not the stage when you are 300 yards away. oh yea another guy coming this year you might have heard of... TIESTO!!!! ahhh so pumped for that late night set, dj shadow was silly last year.
If 1/10 people at roo are cops then that is like 8000 cops and something makes me think that is a little ridiculous, maybe its common sense or rational thought that leads me to believe that is a gross overestimate and in fact bonnaroo is the one of the most beautifully hippie run festivals of all time in my opinion and no weapons are needed, ever. Much love.

I live in Manchester, too. 10 years ago I never would've thought that Metallica, Pearl Jam, Tom Petty, White Stripes, Kanye West, Jack Johnson, Tool, and lots more would be in my town.
I should go one year... every year I just serve you people food all weekend less than half a mile away. :D

Just got back from Bonnaroo 2008... It ROCKED. Jack Johnsons set was outstanding. Way to go Manchester TN! You guys know how to roll out the red carpet for all of us visiting. Thanks so much for your wonderful hospitality!

06 was awesome, ate a shroom pizza and saw oysterhead up close. and then i sat in the grass and had an awesome conversation with a complete stranger for an hour and a half. then met some friends and drank moonshine and i think i saw tom petty that same night. good times.

To be honset the only thing i can say we accomplished here is a mass gathering of people who love the musical aspect of life. And as for the global warming deal what do they make you do thats so bad??? I mean is it that hard to turn off your lights when your not using them and carpool a little bit? There is absolutely nothing wrong with the people asking you to help save the environment except for the radicalists but i promise you this festival isnt a gathering for extremist environmentalists.

yea as it gets closer to june it gets harder to wait around for it, but i live in florida and got to go to Wannee fest so that gave me a taste before Bonarroo which made waiting a little easier.

metallica is the most disappointing headline in my opinon in the 5 years i have been going (this year included) but there are so many good "unknown" bands coming this year. I.E. MGMT, vampire weekend, Ghostland Observatory!!! those are the special shows That I like a bonnaroo, the tents, not the stage when you are 300 yards away. oh yea another guy coming this year you might have heard of... TIESTO!!!! ahhh so pumped for that late night set, dj shadow was silly last year.

If 1/10 people at roo are cops then that is like 8000 cops and something makes me think that is a little ridiculous, maybe its common sense or rational thought that leads me to believe that is a gross overestimate and in fact bonnaroo is the one of the most beautifully hippie run festivals of all time in my opinion and no weapons are needed, ever. Much love.
