Of course not... so while your comments on Nova's practices concerning students and financies may be spot on, the word you should think about before talking about teacher-student dating is "professionalism." And BTW no I don't/didn't work for Nova, but I am studying to become a real teacher [with actual teaching credentials].
that is great. i dont have credentials only experience... but i think our greatest teachers in life did not label themselves as teachers because of a test they took. for example socrates and other early philosphers.. or people in any walk of your life. I think its all about being professional. I do think its great that people take teaching seriously and really study their trade. I take teaching seriously also and quite a few of my students are now eiken level 1 and 2...
I hear you onn the certificates and schooling that usually doesn't really add up in the scheme of things. Its how you contect with the students that matters. You don't have to have the label teacher to be a teacher. Some of the best teachers might not even work in a school if you know what I mean. Good luck with your next step, take the Nova closing as a positive step. Its a turn in the road, time to move on.
Well, I don't think that's the problem my friend. When I worked at Nova the female students were the ones chasing ME. I was asked out by female students all the time. This never happens at my current school.
Nova just has a terribly unprofessional atmosphere entirely. It's not because of the teachers. Many Nova teachers do a fantastic job as soon as they quit and join another school. It's hard to explain to a non-Nova teacher, but the company gives us no choice but to be unprofessional.
i was JET and we never had these problems...wow scary and sad! I had friends that worked 4 Nova and they were alway upset with their jobs..All Nova teacher you shouls appy to ALTIA. or why not JET? U have options!

i hear ya on that ! When i left a year and a half ago, people were so upset and some of my coworkers couldnt believe that i would leave nova. When i tried to explain they just didnt getit.. i hope they get it now.
Hello,This is an Ex Nova employee. I quit working for NOVA on the 15th of July and have not recieved a Paycheck yet.If you are thinking about quiting, DO NOT rely on that final paycheck. This is true, no BS. Good luck to those that stay. It's a great way to stay in Japan, and they usually paid on time when compared to other schools.
Count your blessings and move on, man! I never got paid for September or October! Might get 80% of it back through the government, but that could take months.
If there is a teacher Nova doesn't like, they will troll for complaints. So beware. After a lesson they willl ask students for comments about the teacher - both good and bad. But they will only use the bad ones and hide the good ones.
The non-fraternization policy is a joke. Nova uses the image of pretty gaijin to get students in, then sayd the teachers can't go out.
I'm sure this is another way for them to get rid of teachers that they don't like. ( LIke those who question the company)

I'm glad I got out a few years ago. I knew this would come. I saw too much deception in my branch to think this company could continue much longer.
