  • People, especially non singers don't realize singers know before anyone when it's not going well but a professional never lets it show. Sass was the consummate professional and deserves only respect!

  • Interesting how so many of you people whom get on YouTube are such mindless idiots with nothing of value to say. Here's an idea; instead of pretending to know anything about subjects like opera or art or anything remotely similar, how's about you go pop open another can of cheap beer, open a bag of chips, light up your crack pipes and shut the hell up!

  • I havent realized that Andrea Rost forgot to get in time in certo certo after the capira legatos :S hehe she let it pass very calmed

  • Sylvias Sass is the lady on the left???? Why she do that?.... it´s not natural :S she would sound great without that strange mouth position. Wouldn´t she?

  • @THELADYSOLOAC

...because i guess at that time her best voice has already disappeared. But respect, at "her time" they called her the "second Callas"... I just appreciate to see her trying her best.

  • I think all these comments are nasty.. Sass still has a sound, and she does not wobble, like many singers her age do. She sounds fresh and young, and perhaps Mozart isn't her schtick, but it is still an excellent sound.. and frankly i would like to hear more!

  • I am by no means an expert, but it sounds as though Sylvia Sass's voice is just not suited to sing Mozart. This song requires a lighter, higher voice. Her voice is very rich and she just cannot sing fast enough to keep the song on a light, merry tone. I think it's just a poor choice for her voice. She dooesn't sound off pitch, though.

  • Poor Sass, way past it, and what's with that hand?

  • Donna Ragno

  • Syivia,nekem te vagy Callas!

  • Tüdőrák után örüljünk, hogy így énekel. A gesztikulálás az muris, de mindegy. Nézzük emberileg.

  • I'm glad Sass only had one hand free to move around. It looks like she's trying to show us how to sing...Well...with her had that is...She looks good though!

  • Ma quanto è sempre grande, grandissima la nostra Sass, e che voce, che donna! Poi, la Rost è pure importante e bella! Bravissime!!

  • Ez sajnos tényleg nagyon ciki. Sylvia tudott énekelni, ám a betegsége óta megkopott a hangja. Andrea természetes, mert fiatal és egészséges, Sylviának már csak a technikája maradt, bár csodálatra méltó, örökké tisztelni és szeretni fogom.

  • OMG! What happened with Sylvia Sass?! This is horrible! And she was SO amazing just few years ago... Andrea Rost is superb, on the otherhand.

  • SylviaS/ass

  • God they both sound well past it. terrible.

  • very good!! I love them!

  • Beabetty

Sass Szilvia csalódás volt. Nemcsak a geszikulációja. Nekem is megvoltak a Mozart- és Verdi-lemezei. Abszolút kedvencem volt fénykorában. Kár érte... És kár volt ezért a produkcióért.

  • Remek, de továbbra is a Kalmár - Sass felvétel a zsinórmérték.

  • is it me or does sylvia sass's voice sounds covered?

  • Szép.

(Néhány Magyar szó is kerüljön már ide...) :)

  • This could not be Andrea Rost. It must be someone else.

    Andrea Rost is much better!

  • yea its is andrea rost..i can tell

  • yea I got it :)

  • j'adore ce que fait Andrea Rost mais alors je trouve ça horrible pour Sylvia saas pardon les gôut et les couleurs...

  • Köszönöm!

  • the gesticulations sucks, but beautiful voices.

  • Rost is wonderful. That's all.

  • Sylvia Sass shall be comeback on stage.

I wanna watch Sylvia Sass's contessa on Le Nozze di Figaro(complete).

  • I'm the biggest fan of Sylvia Sass, but I would rather remember her at her best than here. it reminds of Anna Moffo sing on the 100th Anniversary of the Met TV broadcast. You get a sense of how they used to sound while regretting that they decided to sing now. And why is it necessary to be so hateful toward people who don't agree with us? Can't we please show a little respect?

  • Caro Orbazzano...hai idea di cosa vuol dire fissa e spoggiata? Direi di no! Ma...come dice una mia amica coreana...tutti maestri in Italia! Hahahaha!

  • evidentemente siamo in due a non sapere cosa voglia dire...

  • La Sass è allucinante: spoggiata e fissa dall'inizio alla fine! Pessima!

  • I love Sass, but her gesticulations are just so Spiderman!

  • LoooooooooooooooL

  • hhahahahahahahahhaahha....... u GOT IT!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... im laughing my ass off!

  • Sylvia Sass acquits herself very beautifully in this duet. She is obviously husbanding diminished vocal resources, but still sings very beautifully and musically. I'll listen to her any day.

  • I have heard MUCH worse AND recorded for posterity (listen to Tebaldi's "In Questa Reggia" or lots of Callas or late Sills (love her) or screamy June Anderson. I think she sounds quite good. What's all the fuss about?

  • I'd rather listen to Sass sing - in any vocal state - than most other boring singers in their prime. She is a wonder and a world treasure!

  • Her voice doesn't sound good. She was already 53 years old and her best years happened in the late 70's and early 80's. Here, unfortunately, the voice is completely changed, often off-pitch and without an excellent breath support. She's a wonderful artist, though, it's just that this doesn't represent the real Sylvia Sass anymore.

  • Kisses OperaBR. Glad someones hearing is in full working order (see below comments).

  • she's wonderful!

  • Sass is simply perfection here.. NO deterioration in her voice that I could detect.

    Blew me away!

  • I must disagree. he is working her arse off to stay on pitch, and failing. She should have considered this before singing mozart.

  • Everybody is a critic...

I'm just a collector with well over 3,000 opera's in my personal collection: all of Sass's works are there. And since I actually OWN these works, I am obviously better positioned than yourself to make the correct judgement on the current vocal standard of Miss Sass.

  • And I've worked as an opera singer, a director and seen a hell of a lot. My collection is also vast (less than 3000 as I have a life) and while Sass was once an exceptional singer and actress, this is a sad display of decline. to say there is 'no deterioration' displays merely a severe loss in hearing.

  • Well 'working her arse off' are such words of an erudite man? Who would have thought it. Not I

I guess your a jerk of many trades with emminence in none. The internet does, sadly, supply nobodys like you a vehicle to spew your garbage unsullied.

  • One need not be erudite to appreciate or know a thing or two about opera and singing. Some of the best singers and artists around have filthy mouths, and thank God for that. Yes its true the internet does offer garbage aplenty, including comments made by someone who can't tell the difference between a singer in their prime and a vocal miscalculation.

  • You must share some of those silvya sass 's works

    please

  • You really should shut your gob since you've obviously no idea what you are talking about. Maybe if you hadn't alienated all of your friends you would have someone to talk to instead of needlessly bashing others whom can still do, when you cannot....if you ever could!

  • wow....never heard her since the early 90s!

Was this the only thing she sang that night?

  • Refreshing to hear Sass sing some Mozart again. One of her first and best albums was an all Mozart recital of concert arias. She is eternally fascinating.

  • This is a very interesting piece. Sass' voice does not lend itself naturally to Mozart - personal choice, but I prefer her Gioconda, Norma and the Verdis - but it's excellent when you consider the huge gap in her career. It's very interesting to hear the very different vocal styles in juxtaposition; Rost being very much the soubrette, whereas you can hear the 'Lady Macbeth' longing to come out in Sass' voice!

  • Charming. When you consider that Sass has been singing for about 30 years her singing wasn't too bad.
