The title of the tutorial is wrong, you showed a PIP (picture in picture) effect not a Split screen effect. A split screen is where there are two pictures of equal size on either side of the screen

When I render the avi file, the lengh gets shorter. The first time I tried, the video got 1:30 min when it should be 3:26 min and the 2nd time i tried, I got a 13 seconds video. Could you tell me why that happens?

I've been doing it wrong all along. I've been using the pan and crop tool to get a split screen effect - with bad results though. Thanks for the video. It really helped!
