A bit curious, referring to that comment 1 year ago about the scimitar being built of neutronium, anyone got any canon sources on this and if so how do we explain the fact that the E's weapons clearly DID manage to damage it?
A little unfair, isn't it? Kinda like tying a guys arms behind his back, gagging him, and punching him in the stomach until he's dead. Why is Enterprise E destroying that defenseless ship, which is (was) presumably full of sentient beings?
@loganonamac7 Picard sent a surgically altered spy aboard the Romulan ship to infiltrate their engineering team, and disable their shields and weapons systems before he gave the order to open fire. That agent was, of course, a casualty of the event. But you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs.
@viperhalberd : One of the Romulan Centurions made a passing negative comment about women in La Barre, France during the State dinner. Expect another crackdown on the trafficking of Romulan Ale.
The way innocent enemies of the Federation get their ships destroyed every time it's served is getting downright embarrassing.
@EnterprisezJ Hey, you've got one of the best looking phaser effect that i've seen on You Tube..matches the effect on the television series..Do you have a tutorial anywhere online on how you recreated the effect?
A better match would have been against the new Top Of The Line Valdore class Warbird. Those are newer and more powerful than the D'deridex though based on the Nemesis battle I'd say the Enterprise E would at least hold its own and maybe even have an edge.
If the warbird did not fire back then this is probably a pretty realistic result. The enterprise E is already significantly better armed than an old D'deridex Warbird to begin with. The Sovereign class starship has Type 12 Phasers which are even more powerful than the Type 11 Planetary Defense Phasers. Plus, the Sovereigns are all equipped with Quantum torpedoes which are ridiculously destructive on their own. Those warbird shields would buckle under the might of the Type 12 Phasers.
We have to take into account that the writers & directors don't pay close attention to the details unlike true fans which like all of you guys can pull all this info from memory. They like to say they are telling a story & not just playing battleship. It would have been great if they paid more attention to the armamment that is canon but alas we will probably never see the E on the big screen ever again using all her weaponry like we know she could & should have.
the romulans are a smart people, even though is has never been shown, it would be a huge mistake not to have any aft weapons. i build a model lke 15 years ago and a diagram shows 2 disruptors on the top,aft section on the ship... but it was never shown in a show so who knows
why is it when the enterprise has multiple phaserbanks pointed at a target the only use 1 or at most 2 at a time? the sov class has atleast 4 forward phasers that could fire together at a single point on a target and bye bye birdie.
Yes, actually that is pretty accurate given that the sovereign class starship has Type 12 phasers and quantum torpedoes. If the warbird had actually fought back it would not have been so easy. But yes, without return fire and defense the Sovereign would make a quick job of the warbird without much trouble. I wonder if many realize that Type 12 Phasers are even more powerful than Type 11 Planetary Defense Phasers. They are immense.
the Enterprise-E certainly wasn't that powerful in nemesis with the scimitar making mince meat out of it even with the type XII phasers and quantum torpedoes. Actually I noticed in that movie they didn't even use quantum torpedoes?!!
umm i dont think you have seen star trek nemesis. the enterprise continuously uses quantum torpedoes. watch the scene where troy uses her telephatic abilities to locate the viceroy. the E unloads a barrage of quantums on the scimitar.
I saw nemesis, I have it on DVD. The Enterprise E fired 6-7 quantum torpedoes and that's it. I thought what the hell, the Enterprise E has like 50-100 quantum torpedoes. But no they were firing photon torpedoes the whole time. Picard messed up big time.
its true they should have used more quantums. i just wanted to clarify that the E did fire them. i think more were fired we just werent showed everything.
@paulcwillis Trans-phasic torpedoes were built in an alternate time period - what they really wanted was a couple of tri-cobalts; would've ripped the Scimitar to shred in seconds.
The defensive capabilities of the Scimitar were a beast. Two sets of shields and that armor? And let's not get started about a cloak so perfect that it could fire while cloaked...
i like how you actually used the torpedoes and Phasers correctly. it makes me happy to know that someone knows what they are for.

Scimitars hull was made of netronium the Quantums would do no damage.
They needed Transphasic Torpedoes then they could fire 1 or 2 shots and be back in time for supper but no they went hungery lol

They would do damage... Just not as much.

No canon source says that. In fact neutronium can't be processed by any known technology, even the Borg don't know how to use it.
