The greatest living legend that has come from this building must be Dr Francis Jackson One time organist & Master of music here. I heard him the other day giving a Organ Recital and it was simply out of this world. From a man who is now in his 90s Francis has got to be the Doyen of Church music.
i went to school here and then my following one was still in york and we had frequent services here. i remember doing the nativity plays in here. good times. you dont realise how much you miss a place untill its gone
Has anyone ever been for evensong at the minster? Its incredible. The atmosphere is fantastic. The choir start singing before you can see them and the sound fills the building and resounds! then the sound travels while they walk and process in and its just indescribable!
Can any one tell me how long evensong lasts at york minster? I'm visiting soon and trying to fit alot in!

I suppose it is about half an hour to three quarters.
I was there on Easter Monday, it was truly glorious and the time passed so quickly.
Most beautiful.
I hope you have a wonderful experience.
