  • This is a very "worried" video. =p

  • REALLY BADD COMERCIAL.... this made me less caring about vampire energy because its so cheap

  • tear everything down, incinerate all man-made objects, set all debts to zero, give everyone a plot of land evenly distributed, give us all one stick each......and go.....

  • Comment removed

  • Actually, where I live in the USA, a device that uses 1.4 watts like you use as an example, 365, would be 1.4w x 8760 hours per year divided 1000 watts to a Kwh = 12.26 x 6.1 cents per Kwh = 74.81 cents a year (1/2 of your quote). Even less are are cell phone chargers left plugged in with no phone, using 0.1 or <0.1 watts. Hardly worth the USA campaign to unplug them at like 5 cents per year. I suggest people look at larger items that are off using energy, like cable boxes, DVD palyers, tv..

  • Yea, and then your economic growth eats more energy and theres nothing left to show. Bye bye.

  • This video is too dogey and needs help :'#

  • This is the Biggest Crock ! ! !

  • I'll do anything to make that fucking vampire shut the fuck up

  • I wish one month of electricity cost me $92, damn several times more then that lol

  • that vampire scream is quite annoying

  • My dad always told me to unplug everything

  • i thought this was a vampire thing -.-

  • @XXxpurebloodxXXify I bet you did XXxpurebloodxXXify, I bet you did.

  • scary (vampire)

  • So why not just unplug the the things when not in use? -.-? and just connect them back when you'll be using them.

  • my Pentium 3 take 33Watts when ON !

  • Damn, I expected to see Vampires give us energy to power out homes.... LOL.

  • This is a kind of vidoe and examples that can be most appealing.

  • Any one know how much the average desktop computer uses when shut down and powered off by the switch on the front?

What about the secondary (and I suspect master) off switch on the back on some computers from 1 to 0?

  • @TimpBizkit Not much at all. Just enough to power the internal clock. so you don't need to set date and time every time you start it. Mind that this has a second battery as well but that isn't rechargeable. So if you disconnect your computer every day for a year. your clock might need to reset and your bios settings return to factory standard.

  • I would rather pay the 50dollars a year for vampire energy than be bothered to buy the standby thing....

  • i had reason to believe that chuck norris was the head directer of an organization known as the iluminati writing this comment will probably cost me my life but the information this video gave is invaluable, after watching this video i have confirm that indeed chuck norris is the head of said organization and must be stop before he joins forces with the evil underground natzi/zombies after i post my comment i would like for at list one person to read this comment and take my mission as his own!

  • this standby power usage did not exist until recently maybe the last 15 years. used to be appliances and electronics were simply switched off when not in use.

  • is Obama a vampire??! :O

  • USA Sucks!

  • this guy sounds like the announcer guy for Little Big Planet.

  • @dudemanio Or the voice of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

  • very educational!

  • 33 Watt when Off for a computer ? are you retarded ? they are talking about a 90's computer because now , a normal computer suck less that 10watt when OFF.

And everything is Energy Star , even my old 486 was energy star .

  • @hitachi088

lol depends on your systems specs -> my powersupply is 850 watts :) and ofcourse how you use it like gaming costs more energy then internetting keep in mind that the numbers in the vids are average.

  • @tHaH4x0r yeah , Average . what is the computer the most used everywhere ? Pentium 4 and equivalent . pentium 4 normaly run witha 300W~ power supply . lets say : 300W=30W when off . so your 850W 850W=85W when off so 1000W=100W when off . ======================= i dont think so . 80W or even 30W is so much power , IF this is true that our computer take so much power when off , this is because they are Way WAY bad designed . my Pentium 3 Take like 35W~ when ON .
  • @hitachi088

yeah but the standard today is duocore and in the stores you can only get i3 at minimum, but in short its difficult to take an avarage.

You cant "quess" what the avarage power consumption is when its off also completly depends on all the other system specs.

O yeah and pentium 3 is from the stoneage, upgrade!

  • @tHaH4x0r

ehh dude , wake up !

i got more then 15 PC in my house .( they are not all plug in , but you got the point .)

i am using a Pentium 3 for NAS/server/Download machine . this way i am not running a 850W useless machine to do things that don't take much power , like file sharing or downloading .

people don't understand that you don't need a 500$ dual core to surf on the INTERNET .

people that trash old computer just because they dont have a apple logo on it are just stupid .

  • @hitachi088

dude, you seriously still live in the stone age, dual cores arent 500 bucks, you cant even get them any more (for 500$ you can get an core i7) and i know, my server also runs an outdated processor because it consumes way less power. And yes apples are trash :) you cant even game on them

  • @tHaH4x0r

    dual core are everywhere .

we sell them everyday at the store i work at .

just go to wallmart . they are full or these .

and no , i am not living @ the stone age , i am sure i got better PC that you even gonna get in your entire live beneath my bed .

  • @hitachi088

iam sorry but iam not an american but in the "mediamarkt" (its a computer store in northern europe) you cant find any duo cores any more.

O yeah and i am sure my pc is better -> my specs are on my channel :)

  • @hitachi088 Yeop, you are correct, but the video doesn't mention their electric charge per KWH does it? My 7 year old computer uses only 5.4 watts in standbye, or 4.2 when turned off, but plugged in. In standbye mode, that's $2.88 per year at 6.1 cents per KWH if just in standbye mode 24/7.

  • ... ur crazy if u think im gonna go around unplugging eveything im not using (xbox, computer, tvs, microwaves...) nor am i buying power strips all over my house

  • @jwatwater You turn it on, but you can't turn it off?

  • @tinakohf

I ddnt say I wassnt going to turn it off, but im not going to unplug it. Im American, that's just to much effort.

  • @jwatwater Don't you have switches on the wall socket you can flick? These are proper switches that sever the electrical connection and you can leave stuff plugged in.

  • @TimpBizkit

nope. dnt really hav those, i think theres one in my living room

  • i love this video!! the vampire sounds are so funny

  • i like the concept, but can't stand the execution.

the intro and outro stand out far above the rest as far as design goes.

  • Well plenty of these numbers are BS. Typical PC's do not consume anywhere near 33W in standby.

That said, I figure I save significantly more than that just by replacing my Kitchen's 7 120W recessed bulbs w/ CFLs that consume 23W. It's on an average of 4hrs per day so 97W*4hr*365*7bulbs = 991KWHr or $119/yr ($0.12/KWHr)

I did an audit - I'm at ~$15/yr in vampire usage and > $200 in CFL based savings.

I think I'll keep my microwave plugged in for $3.07/yr (or 365 bag fulls of popcorn usage)

  • Good nightmare

  • Nightmare

  • like it.... but the vampire thing? to be honest its creative - but not my style. Love the intro and credits - very good idea.

  • redneck song at the begining... closed browser after 5 sec... nty redneck faggots

  • 1% isn't going to save anything.

  • but save 1% affects a LOT, remember butterfly effect?

  • These GOOD videos are, well. . . good!

  • most people seem to miss the point... it's not about YOU yourself... so it saves YOU a few dollars, but COLLECTIVELY it saves everyone. 1% here, 1% there... (70% or so if we had electric cars)...

most people have the mentality of: why not dump chemicals in the lake? I dont swim there... I dont drink from there... but little do you know you DO drink from there, you may eat fish from it, and there will be people on this earth after you (after you destroy it) ie... your KIDS that you might love

  • @legalyzefreed0m Interesting concept. Save electricity by using electric cars. BTW, the world burns fossil fuels to generate the energy to power those cars. And when you take the 30% energy efficiency of the best fossil fuel power plants, multiply by the AC to DC efficiency conversion, multiply it by the battery efficiency, multiply it by the motor efficiency and you end up less efficient that using gasoline on a typical 30mpg vehicle. Isn't that amazing ;)

  • Wow, that's news to me. and that vampire laugh, lol.

  • Amazing companies does not care. And goverments in USA don't do anything about stuff like this.. . Just as water consumption..?!?! Amazing ..

  • 34$ a year....big freaking deal.

  • thats billions of dollars worth of electricity in the united states that contributes to green house gases

  • I know, but saying it costs 34$ a year for a person is going to get you the "big deal" response, because for a person, 34$ is very little.

  • Oh, yeah

When I first saw this video I was confused, but then I started to think about the rest of the population lol

  • @FasterSoldiers And don't forget the rainforest cut down to feed people and cows.

  • My Computer Is The King Of Vampire Energy!

It It Turns Off Right When I Put The Cord Out!

    My Stupid Computer!

  • it's all good information. great stuff. i'm gonna unplug a lot now.

but one thing wrong is the assumption that co2 is related to global warming.

search Lord Monckton on youtube and watch his stuff about how utterly baseless CO2 causing global warming is.

  • 92$ .... one month's electricity bill?!?! Maybe in a world where the weather is so perfect no heating, nor air conditioning is needed. And even then it would cost more than that

  • Since I like my home phone to stay charged, my computer to boot up quickly, and my microwave clock to work, I'll pay the extra 90 bucks a year. If I took the time to manually switch off every appliance, the time I lost would be worth more than 90 dollars to me.

naturally occurring events, such as volcanic eruptions produce more carbon dioxide than all of mankind and it's inventions put together...

let's save energy, sure. but let's not panic.

  • You are 36 years old and you want to tell me you learned nothing in life?... i mean... come on...

  • These amounts are minuscule. I like remote controls more than your 1% CO2 reduction.

  • Wit the money you save, the government thugs will just tax it away again. Fk this.

  • no, you are blind, assuming, and most of all misleading. please try using FACTS.

  • Sweetie, these are facts. Go to school and you might see what they're talking about...

    :)

  • honey, if you look at my post it starts with no, implying it is a response to a previous post, not the video. (directed at TreesofPanda, I think).

    :)

  • Oh sorry. the thing on youtube is messed up. it doesnt show the reply lines. Proceed

    :)

  • yes. all they want to do is make you unhappy. that is why the government exists. also, they put antidepressants in tap water

  • @npc223 if there really antidepressants in water we woullldd beee sooooooooooooooo happpyyyy its all a conspircy man i swearrrr flouridating toothpaste and what not

  • It is pointless stating 'facts' without qualifying them. What is the function in a Microwave which consumes power when not in use. Mobile phone chargers drop back to virtually zero after the battery is charged. Fire risk is more to be worried about. Filament light bulbs contribute to the heating during the time from switch-on of the heating to switch-off in summer. The days are shorter in summer so less lighting needed, but manufacture and disposal of energy saving lamps is a eco problem.

  • This is cool! Nice way of presenting facts. :)

  • Comment removed

  • ...I think you need to double check where your getting your facts.

  • Actually, you should educate yourself. If you don't think that it's killing the planet, then you are a selfish human being. (not this video) But what that topic is saying is that we can still have cars but they can be energy efficient. It's better for the planet. And it's not harmless to the planet. It's a killer. Those greedy bastards in the economy just wanted more money and they found they could do that with gas. U need to help or move to another planet. this one is making a change

  • Emphasis in the video is wrong

The popcorn analogy is not helpful

1 month free electricity is helpful

  • I agree with your ideas and support your concept though I did notice one thing.

You call it "Vampire energy", now I think you are stereotyping Vampires there. I am not being a vampire myself but having many vampire friends. I am offended at how you are painting a dark and evil picture of vampires. Not all Vampires are evil, these stereotypes could make for some very sad or unhappy Vampires.

I have a solution, why not call it "Van Helsing energy" because he truly sucked.

  • You just made my day.

  • ... The fuck?

  • lol

  • We just need better standby technologies so that everything is cheaper. Some things you have to have in all the time, like telephones or computers. And others are a pain to reset the settings on.

  • Stand by power is not there just to waste money, if you keep unpluging your devices they will fry.

I won't go into detail why they would, google it if you really want to know.

What do you choose about 100$ on stand by power, or 2000$ on a new computer.

  • большего эффекта можно достигнуть гася свет уходя.

  • Comment removed

  • Ouch man, that hurts.

  • I pay for my electricity so mI will waste it however I want.

  • Your kids will be paing the true price ;)

  • and your children pay in droughts, flooding and starvation.

  • that whole part about carbon doixide gas, well, id just like to say.... in the U.S. some companys use carbon dioxide in meats to keep them appearing fresh longer, so that when you buy it, it looks fresh, but really is bad for you. and what are the long term affects i wonder?? dosent the same stuff come out of cars and they say is very dangerous to you. it can even kill you?

  • Worse, It's carbon monoxide.

  • no, carbonMONOXIDE

  • No, carbon monoxide kills people in confined spaces, not a big deal outside.

  • no it's no the confinement, it's the concentration. Exposure in concentration outdoors will contaminate the Oxygen concentration in blood and can cause death even outside

  • and spelling too!

  • I don't think we have the technology to use Fusion energy in a capacity where we can use it to power our homes yet.

  • Harukih is right, the Fussion energy is still on early stages of development and is something not suitable for use in our homes, maybe in a near future that can be something that could help... but for now what we can do is look for good ways to stop emitting so much CO2

  • Carbon monoxide kills by binding to hemoglobin more strongly than oxygen does. At high enough concentrations, it will make your blood unable to carry enough oxygen to your cells. But I don't think that there's any long-term risk to being exposed to small amounts of it... and the amounts they package with meat are relatively tiny.

  • good info. but do u really think hemoglobin is the only thing it affects?

  • I don't know, but I don't think there's much to worry about from meat packaging. From what I know and a quick google search, It looks like high-level exposure can have long-lasting effects like organ damage (especially to the brain). Chronic medium-level exposure (maybe smoking or working around idling cars?) might have some effects too.

But CO is all around us in small amounts, and I don't think meat packaging could contribute significantly.

  • @ghuegel It's more likely the cholesterol will kill you.

  • @VCat2006 , sounds reasonable.

  • @ghuegel the problem is the long-term effects. It won't to away until the protein is broken down. They live for approximately 120 days. but until that happens one less cell can carry oxygen. That means that it can accumulate over a long period of time. Some carbon monoxide here, some there. Which can be a problem in big cities.

  • @timonix2 CO binds to hemoglobin better than O2, but not irreversibly. I don't think it affects the lifespan of hemoglobin or red blood cells. CO exposure is a problem at extreme levels short-term, and a problem at high levels long-term. The exposure from CO-packed meat is a very low-level, so unlikely an issue, except if you buy low-quality meat because its appearance is boosted by CO packaging... which has nothing to do with CO exposure.

  • @ghuegel so that was about CO packed meat? should have read the previous one then. But I didn't say it was irreversible or the life-length is affected but you need so much energy that it's more likely for the cell to die from age rather than the body getting rid of the CO molecule. Now when i think about it it might actually affect the life-length. Because if the body can see if there is something wrong with it (I have no clue if it can or not) it will try to get rid of it.

  • this video is not true, my popcorn takes 1minute and 12 seconds, i just timed it.

  • California leads the way in being green. Los Vegas doesn't do too badly. Set in a desert it runs nowadays on solar energy.

  • Now I know, and knowledge is half of the battle!

  • now i know and knolage is power

  • wtf?

  • that's why americans need solar panels

  • @ neolous

    The technology has 2 setbacks

    1. There must be a wide-spread solar panels to capture enough energy from the sun.

    and

    2. There must be a backup energy on cloudy days

  • weird

  • Tesla discovered free energy...

  • I took a class building one of his machines and I still don't believe it is all that great... just my thought.

  • @renjida19 So where is it then?

  • @renjida19 He did discover free and efficient energy, however, the only downside to Capitalism is that noone whats to waste time and resources on providing people with this type of energy, since no one is making any money. With fossil fuels you can charge hundreds a barrel and produce billions of barrels, however, if you give someone a devise capable of harnessing free energy you only get paid once. Free energy simply isn't plausable, its too easy and that idea bankrupted Tesla.

  • @renjida19 and he was a serb :) God damn it i must say that every time xD

  • @renjida19 to bad its never going to be realsed to the public...

  • pour vamps disgracefulO_o

  • Don't listen 2 him, Al Lewis's character's needs that energy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • QUICKLY!Ever body turn off your computers!!

  • YOU first ;)

  • cute! ^^ well i use power strip *tadaa*

  • what a waste..

  • vampire energy? psh.. such a bad rep for poor lil vampies

  • LMFAO!JK.:0

  • hey, people....just use a power strip...so you only need to turn off one button...

  • THIS IS TRUE >>>>

  • as interesting as this video was, i doubt many people would see 1% as a big deal (oh, but it is). anyway i think we could have done without the lame vampire sound-bites (no pun intended).

  • so odd in many ways

  • Why have they got an English commentator for an American video ? :L

  • The English accent just naturally lends itself to documentaries and other important pieces of information you should know. lol

  • so you suggest using energy star compliant stuff. it must have been over 10 years that i haven't seen a non energy-star compliant product.

  • Yeah, but average life span of appliances is up to 12 or 14 years for most kitchen appliances and washing/drying machine. So for many people, like me, who treat their appliances good, are using 16 year old stuff that was out before anybody had heard of energy star. So that message is to people with older appliances telling them maybe they should update

  • If you want to motivate us, you can give us discount if we lower our electric bill on top of the saving. :D

I am not being a hypocrite but it a point that I am trying to make.

  • The worst energy vampires I have are full size refrigerator (nearly empty) oven and stove in a one bedroom apartment. The refrigerator is the worst as it's usually nearly empty.

If I put the second bottle of laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc at the back of the refrigerator, as well as keeping filtered drinking water in closed jars in there, I not only free up a lot of storage space, but keep the fridge from being so much of a vampire.

  • I'm unplugging my microwave now...

  • Well done. Graphics are simple and clear! Love the voice over too!

  • My oldest brother doesn't believe in vampire engergy at all. In fact, he believes whoever does is an idiot. Not too surprising that he's a C or D student.

  • Maybe you need to let him turn on the lights, and keep his computer on?

  • I can think of a few buttons i'd like to press. Revolutionary Button Pushers Hmmmm.

I a liitle bit more of a hardliner on this one like, Why not share a Television, or just not have one in the first place... Would that Be a crime? Being UN_PLUGGED

  • People have to wear clothes.... so what if they are "inspirational"?

  • Hey man there is Ten million sheep. Do you let the Bad man Kill THem All to make money.

Or do you kill One too make a dont kill the Sheep T-shirt.... Too maybe save a few?

From the person who is definatly going to kill them all..... Unless we all start wearing the Ive got your BACK t-shirt. Cause otherwize we all just dust man... n we need to be like a stone

  • Sad times we're living in - if pushing a button on a powerbar is considered an inconvenience... so many people have shit for values it's not even funny!!

  • totally disagree... find it rather amuzing ^^

  • Comment removed

  • i wish they made wireless wires

  • I am not lazy, we are not lazy, its the fucking manufacturers of all these products that are being lazy. On/off switches on products should do exactly that, and also we should make laws governing how much electricity things can waste. why the fuck is my microwave stealing my electricity? what exactly is it doing Panasonic? What are you doing with my electricity?! tell me damn it!

  • I like popcorn

  • Energy's not free? What? No shit!!!!!!!!

  • Don't plants eat(breathe) CO2? I like bagels

  • Truth is, collectively - people are just plain dumb and lazy.

Individually - there are some who make a bit of effort and do more.

For example, ours is a low loss house.

VERY VERY well insulated, so it costs much much less to keep it warm.

To improve on this, all the bulbs inside are the energy saving type.

    The result?

Despite increased in costs - we still get rebates.

About $12 a week in summer.

    1/3 of that in winter.

a bit of effort to save your own money, seems like a no-brainer to me

  • Ugh, my parents don't let me turn off the computor at night for fear that it will "break the computor".

  • HAhahahahahahahaha xD i know what you mean mate...parents are stupid as fuck

  • knock em out

  • There's a couple things in my house that have to remain on, such as my VoIP Modem and DVR because they are used somewhat continuously, even when I'm not home, but I do have most gadgets on a switch or timer of some sort.

  • when you have worked for 10 hours and your exhausted beyond belief; when you have been running on your feet that entire time, and the the plug is behind a half a ton of furniture and you can't reach it, then YES IT IS WORK!

Hurricanes were around long before the creation of industry and all its by-products and they will continue to exist long after. If we cannot adapt to climate change, then I guess we will just die off.

  • I solved that problem by putting in a remote switch(the kind used for Christmas lights) on my power supply, so I just need to press the button on the remote, which is next to my remote caddy.

  • unplug it before going to work <_<

  • death to your microwave XD

  • Of all the "green" movements, this by far is the WORST. It's just not practical.

Most appliance outlets are located in...you know the BACK, making it a pain to reach and unplug. You could move things to reach the plug but that could entail who knows how much furniture moving back and forth. I don't know about you but after a long day of working the last thing I want to do is be a furniture mover.

These appliances were made with one big thing in mind; convenience. Plugging and unplugging is not

  • Well but don't you think that's kind of a lame excuse? "...unplugging is not [convenient]"

It was convenience that got us in the shitter in the first place and how much of work is it really to unplug your fucking TV before going to bed? I think it's more inconvenient for people who die or loose their houses because of hurricanes triggered by the change in climate.
