Lovely song by Hahn, but not a true classical version. P.J. is a pop singer who sings opera arias in a pop style, not a classical/opera singer. This doesn't mean he has no worth, just that if he's going to sing classical/opera material, he will be judged by his voice, technique, breathing, etc. the same way a real opera singer would be. I'm not slamming P.J., just pointing out the difference. Please listen to Cencic, Daniels, Scholl, Asawa and compare.
@arpeggio1358 I couldn't' agree more with you here. It's not a classical version but just a POP. It can be appealing to some people but his voice is absolutely FLAT and EMPTY! There's no DEPTH here. He is just making sweat sugary isolated SOUNDS, TRILLS to entertain people in POP STYLE like a sweet musical parody without expressing all the emotions in this great Hahn's song! Just superficially playing on his vocal cords without even using his CHEST for sound production. There are enough real CTs
Of course. That is the reason I said it seemed to me he was singing as if it were a piece from tne 18th century. I know it was written by Reynaldo Hahn. I can play it. Thank you.
@moreira7daniel Actually, singing as if it is a piece from the 17th Century...reminiscent of Robert de Visée, court guitarist to Louis XIV.
Theophile de Viau was the most read French poet of the early 17th century. Imprisoned for two years in the Conciergerie accused of irreligion and sodomy by the Jesuits and banished for life --- he died shortly thereafter (1626). Interest in his poetry was revived in the 19th Century by Theophile Gautier.
I'm admiring the perfect diction. It's as if he was simply speaking, with natural... but thousand times more beautiful too ! Thank you ! I'm waiting for the album too !

Very beautiful song. The best version I've ever heard is Nicholas Spanos's. That is just otherworldly.

Beautiful! But it sounds to me like he's singing as though it were an XVIII century piece. Am I wrong? Beautiful though, any way...
