  • @MrNamegame I have a golden he never bites he's the best

  • fortissimoooooo.......un genioooooo..

  • HEY That's great! :-)

  • lol at the dog who cant be bothered eating his snow, is that a golden retriever

  • @Jaystrain08 yeah. interesting fact: did you know golden retrievers are the least likely breed of dog to bite in the world?

  • @MrNamegame to bite a human, that is.

  • This is really good. Some tips, move some of the weight to the front, dont add anymore. Have more diheadral on the sides, its very unresponsive in the banking. That should make it fly awsome!

  • lol..nice.. abit tailheavy or is it just me ;)

  • @pavcon ya. that is the only reason the tail droops when the plane flies slow.

  • woww...awesome bro..nice..

  • awsome sound what motor is that ;)

  • cool toy man 5* ;)

  • hey, its a snow mobile :D

  • @muh1h1 limited flying edition, get to work faster! lolz

  • any one know the C-rating on the stock storm launchers lipo?

  • When you were about to launch it, your dog is just sitting there taking huge bites out of the snow bank. Haha

  • "I love the snow" kkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • I'm gonna make a cardboard RC plane with the twin motors, landing gear, and remote control of the RC F-14 Tomcat replica from Air Hogs.

  • that thing is like a lil jet

  • you should try elevrons

its elevator and ailerons just cut your elvator in half and have one servo to each side

  • Awesome!

  • I want to make a homemade one from styrofoam and the engines at a decent power to get it air born or at least to get it moving on the ground

  • hahaha the dog who eats the snow

  • Was the Mini Storm Launcher discontinued too?

  • this is water-landing RC aircraft, brilliant..

  • they still have them here in canada

but come to think of it I havent seen any for a while.

well its a good thing I still have 2 brand new in the box and 5 for parts that still fly!!!MUhahahahaha!!!

  • they still have them here in canada

  • try elvons like on the pz stryker

  • dual modes are perfect!

  • Go to bananna hobby or hobbyking and buy yourself an edf jet

  • 2:38 the Dog of Snow XD XD XD

  • it's tail heavy imao

  • Im going to put a ducted fan motor in an rc car.

  • Snow must be tasty

  • the pour dog was eating the snow give him somethin to drink man

  • @yonas1234ify these things are discontinued so nobody can buy them anymore. If you want to get into radio control planes then buy the sundowner 36 from hangar 9 it's a great plane!

  • where can u get these now in 2011 i am in sweden plzz answer

  • what kind of motor is that?

  • not a bad flyer .WD

  • ha the dog was eating snow

  • thing dose not wont to fly worth of crap

  • a little wobbly but it looks great nice job on modifying this thing to keep it flying!

  • LOL @ 2:38

  • Hey! That was awesome!

Hahah, ya, it flew like a piece of cardboard, but it flew!!! So it's a success! Very cool!

I made a thing out of poster board and it "flew" like a piece of posterboard, hahah, but it was fun. I put lights all over it and flew it at night, it was pretty cool! The way yours handled, reminds me of my poster board plane.

    Cheers man!

  • i prefeir parkflyer

  • can you still buy it?

  • ha ha , it looks like a boat.

    flying catamaran. XD

  • Lol the dog eaton the snow

  • Wow that is cool! ducted fans make any plane fly.

  • lol the dog

  • i want one :)

  • gyro stabelizers on it would make it perfect.

  • @2:15 you can see the DF blow the dust off its self

  • lol @ the dog ;)

  • give your dog some water!

  • Oh man, that snow looks delicious. :)

  • im trying elevons rudder(maybe) and a grayson hobby microjet V3

  • hey dave, to get rid of the deal were the nose keeps angleing up, try putting the moter inside of the plane in the middle or were the rudder is.

  • Should do elevons!

  • nice dog

  • you are one one good fliyer but a better one theirs none!!!

  • i wont one so bad

  • 180 motors mount directly in the stock setup. Same motors as coaxial helis

  • which motor do u use ? thks

  • Hello Mr Herbert. I beat you on this one. I am the proud owner of 4 SL. One is more or less a wreck, 2 is in more or less original flyable condition, and... one in mint concition, still in the box, got it on clearance sale fromToysRus

  • they still sell these things in stores? i bought mine on amazon and ebay brand new. thought they were discontinued unless

  • weird

  • Hey Dave thats awesome im in the process of making a glider with a small brushless motor on it to get it up...but the whole plane will be made out of coke cans and no glue on wings or body just on motor mount .i'll post a video when finished you are a inspiration mate ....keep up the good work

  • nice flying dave

  • Mine all go to the right with the trim centered so I just tweak the rudders to counter the pull to the right so the motors wear evenly.

  • All right!! Woo Hoo! Dave is rockn' the SL's again!! I still have mine and I'm planning to fly it stock today with a camera on it. HOpefully, I'll get some nice shots of the Yukon.

Maybe post a link for that motor?

  • @wildhover me too i never really liked storm launchers but ow i withed i bought one while it lasted.

  • i never got into these storm launchers when they were available in stores. after seeing your vid, i sort of wish i had one now

  • Have you tried to fly with ailerons and elevator mixed and not use the rudder? just a thought

  • yup, you had me i thought you were gone to hit the side of the house. good job , it would have been funny to see it land on the roof then take . great vid i see you guys had some good snow.enjoy.

  • Dave,

My storm launcher steers more the right side. I trim is set to the extreme left but it still steers to the right. I noticed the front bar was loose. I guess it could be a lot of anything; I'd have to check. I regard you as a real expert with rc's. Like your storm launcher revived. Would you have an idea how to counter the SL leaning to the right even when trim is all the way to the left?

  • @boywaimea you may need to replace the slower of the two motors. i had the same problem with mine.

  • Comment removed

  • It looks unstable, how did you trim it with out crashing

  • Dave you are the ultimate engineer...I think if i handed you a pile of Dog Crap you could make it fly Love your stuff

  • i still have mine brand new in the box from 2 years ago.never opened

  • I + D + I

    Investigation

    Dave

    Innovation

    LOL !!!

Put your gloves on! It seems really cold out there. 5*

  • Watch out for that house! Look out for the tree! Hahah! Nice retrofit design sir. Were you using the Mechanixwear Gloves I sent you? They're supposed to make cold weather flying easier for you. I think you need an RC Snowmobile! Do they make those? If not, I bet you could!

  • Dave

That was really fun watching you fly the SL! In fact, after having a really terrible

    day, your zig-zagging-knife edge turns,

missing trees, and rutting up the snow brought enough fun back into the day to last thru supper! Try to keep warm! ET

  • I was planning to do the same this to mine except with a lightweight 55mm EDF w/ brushless outrunner, only 56g. The EDF needs to be so far forward because you've got too much stuff near the back. It's stalling the whole time, hence the wobbling. You're basically doing semi-3D flying and getting away with it because you've got so much power. Remember, the stock SL had nothing near the back. I'd go back to just elevons, servos up front, maybe in motor pods, and ditch center tailfin. CG forward!

  • Also, if you can, get rid of the top yellow cup and move Rx and ESC forward too.

You'll have much more control with elevons to control the roll, instead of just left/right with the rudder alone which also causes instability when you have no dihedral in the wing like in these SLs.

  • What about 2 smaller ducted fans? Seems tippy with the one.

  • Tried that. It is balanced on the CG and all SL, especially the mini flies like that. Thanks.

  • I like how you adapt to the snowy season and create new projects such as this one.

  • Thanks very much. No choice but to adapt here. lol.

  • What was the wind speed that freez'in afternoon? and temp;-) Hehe..Your friends in Sunny South Florida ."Wheels up!"PS. Ms.claus dropped off an msr this Christmas. This could be Gods gift to the rc World!

  • Wind was only about 3-4 mph, but the temp was 27. Congrats on the MSR. Have fun. THanks.

  • Excellent video Dave as always You and Jeff are legends.

    ATB Ghost Maker

  • Haha. Thanks so very much for your comments. I appreciate that.

  • My SLs are still going strong, the motors wear out but they are cheap to replace!

  • Great. Spinmaster has discontinued props and parts, etc, so cheap, yes...if you could find them.

  • Nice mods.

I may have to try that with mine when it stops working.

Looks like the weather hasn't slowed you or Jeff down. Good deal.

    5 Stars ~ Eric

  • Thanks Eric. Yep I had 5 of these things, but only 1 still flies good. Jeff still has a good one too. Heard you got snow.

  • my dog puts his face in the ground and pushes with his back legs like his face is a shovel :|

  • I've seen dogs do that. What kind of dog is it?

  • Thanks. Thirsty, I guess.

  • I doubt the average flyer could have kept that thing flying for more than a second. Your flying skills definitely showed, Dave!

    I am impressed~!!

  • Thanks very kindly. Yep it was a challenge, but I hope the next flights will be better. I appreciate your comments.

  • That looks like some pretty deep snow! The dog eating the snow was price less, looks like a really nice dog.

This thing looks like you had lot of fun with it. The ones that you fix up or build are always my favorite videos.

  • Yep. The dog is Jeff's Golden Retriever. Back here most dogs eat (drink) snow. I appreciate your comments. Thanks.

  • man, dave, you've done it again, great vid and great work.

  • Haha. Thanks. That is kind of you to say.

  • i still have my stormlauncher

  • Great. Fly it!

  • I LOVE dogs

  • i like ur dog

  • I'll tell Winston. Thanks.

  • you should put a gyro on the plane, than it will be easier to fly and trim.

  • you watch too many rcpowers vidoes... not everything needs a gyro.

  • yah I kinda do, but it might help

  • A gyro wouldnt help much with this, besides, I learned without crutches, so have to keep going that way.

  • Yay another FRANKENPLANE !!!!

  • Haha. Thanks for that chuckle.

  • really nice "thing" you got there and some good manuvers skills too =) keep going

  • Thanks very kindly. I appreciate that.

  • WOW.. i have one still, and don't use it b/c it is WOEFULLY underpowered

not up on the newest specs and tech's in the hobby, but my father is.. so i might give him this as a fun project

i now have a REAL hobby grade hydrofoam that i fly.. and its underpowered, but a HELL of alot easier to fly, with ele-vons and rudder, instead of elevator and thrust differential like the storm launchers..

  • Yep, they wore out fast. The hydroplane you have cost too much for me to experiment on, but I know of them and do know they fly well. Me....this is cheap to smash into the snow. LOL

  • wow that thing is fast

  • Yep, it really scoots.

  • hehe.. nice video 5*

  • Thank you sir.

  • Too bad they were discontinued :(

  • I agree.

  • that's interesting, it may look strange but at least it flies. nice video as usual. good job on the mods and flying.

  • Thanks very kindly. I appreciate that.

  • Hey^^ nice video! You tried already times, on the water too " swim ". It resembles a little a hydroskimmer! ; -)

  • Thanks. If you want to see it on the water, watch some of my earlier videos to see some spectacular flying. I have even launched them off my Catapult quite successfully. Thanks again.

  • Ok one! Property me evenly few respected! Ingeniously! I must say only again and again! Ingeniously! ; -)

  • Thanks kindly again.

  • Great vid! This makes me want to get my storm launchers out!

  • Thanks kindly. Go for it.

  • HAHAHAHA why was your dog eating the snow xD Made me laugh so much.

  • Thirsty. Dogs around here all eat (drink) snow. It is pure and better than chlorine, I guess. Glad you got a chuckle.

  • dog eating snow. great!

  • LOL Thanks, Ill tell Winston.

  • love the videos have a super cub going to get the er 2000 thanks a lot great help im creating some videos my self

  • love when the dog ate the snow

  • I've got 7 SL and all but one flies still! The FET melted from continuous flying.

  • Your very lucky. I still have 2 that fly also, but not as well as they did in the Product review videos I produced on the Stormlaunchers, when they were new.

  • Wow! when you when to take-off that went SUPER fast!

    .

    ~DLPlanes

  • Yep, this baby scoots for a no airfoil, boogie board, flying boat! Thanks.

  • @NightFlyyer are these supposed to fly

  • The original ones fly and go on water too. See some of my earlier videos to see some Spectacular Stormlauncher flying.

  • um... its seriously under powered...

  • Uh, you don't know if you don't try. I had to start somewhere.

  • yeap... 2 might do the job though

  • i love the dog eating the snow!!

  • I will tell Winston. Thanks.

  • Great to see one of the stormlauncher fly ..

    It looks rather twitchy in flight .{*_"}

  • They always were, especially the mini.

  • if you would lose the cheesy effects.... i'd like that....

  • I agree.

  • Nice!

  • Thanks.

  • Thanks for another great video.

  • Thank you too for the support.

  • Nice mods and video. It would seem like the 64mm fan at the front would throw off the cg. Looking forward to the Blue Ray video. : )

  • Yep I put it there to balance it on the cg. Stay tuned and thanks.

  • That was neat ! I've been wondering if there is something I could do with my mini launcher since it lacks power now a days but was great fun at small park... I don't know if I ever do anything to it, but for sure this was great inspiration :)

  • Doing this to a mini would really be difficult. Thanks for the kind words.

  • 5/5 for dog eating snow

  • Thanks. I'll tell Winston.
