@BER2ERKER i completely agree, to assume that alien life is somewhat similar to what human life is, is completely naive. humans define the universe based upon our world and given the expanse of the universe and the infinite possibilities of existence it is highly unlikely that aliens share the same existence. Humans have learned to understand our way of life over the course of thousands of years. To attempt to understand existence beyond the forms of our life is almost incomprehensible.

cont. what their needs are; maybe they do research, or maybe they use biotechnology and need DNA to benefit themselves. in that case it would be like us killing an animal for food to survive. We don't know, there are infinite possibilities. They probably wouldn't spend the resources to get here (unless of course it's very easy for them to get here) unless they had some real reasons for coming; wether that be research or self improvement/preservation. the fact is, we don't know what aliens that are millions to billions of years ahead are like. We could never imagine how they would operate or what they would desire; we would never understand them, and describing them using human-based characteristics is silly. Human traits are not applicable in understanding them, for they would be so much further in evolution. One theory I thought about is the fact that for as long as we're confined into our own solar system and especially our own homeworld, then we're or really on our own and no advanced extraterrestrial would really care.  It's similar to be aware of a termite mount standing at an open plain. My only suspicion would be there would be an interest to study primitive civilizations. I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to reflect their ancient selves rather than being in awe of us.
