@UPSTATE50009 Google the California Conservation Corps, and you'll get a lot of information. Figure out which location is nearest you to come in and start the recruiting process. Let your parents know, and be ready for an amazing adventure.
Ah yes the Corps. I was stationed up in Shasta Pacific's Leggett. Did my COMET training in Fortuna. I always loved the forests in Northern Cali and left the program as a Supergrade (Green Hat) General Specialist. What you guys are doing is alsome!! It was an honor taking part in that. I was 20 when I went in, and left at 22. Now I'm 31. I still have some of my old badges and my Class-A. Hat's off to you guys & gals!!
u can tell them when you get there cuz there's a guy that was at my center using a cane. he didn't do physical work instead he stayed in the clothing place [our uniforms]. they might have u on that for a bit til it heals up.
we did push-ups, physical conditioning, health awareness, and basic info on the center and program. if you tell your C1 about your ankle, they'll work with you to try to get it up to speed. we didn't hike 4 miles everyday, well none actually. the only time you need to be alert is when it's super physical work, because sometimes it changes.
Wow so you guys actually do some of the work that people take for granted. I never sat down and thought about who keeps different trails safe and cleared. I have a greater respect now:)

Very cool stuff lil sis
I have a question is this like a volunteer thing you are doing or are you training for your career?
pastorgeorgec 2 years ago
nope. it's a paying gig, and it helps to put this stuff down on a resume. So, yeah it gives you training for a career.
