  • no one loses benefits um WHAT ABOUT THE GAY PEOPLE?????????

  • That fact that people are making these close-minded, homophobic commercials is true to how backwards our country is really getting. And the fact that they air.... it's an insult to every good thing in this country.

  • You know, these pathetic attmepts to retain the status quo only make it clear that there is a change happening and the injustices of the past will no longer be accepted by those who have been marginalized for too long. How do you think your kids really feel about this? Protect people not institutions that you don't even honor yourselves.

  • *sigh* why not have schools segregated again, while we're at it?

  • Yes on 2! Save the children. Whether you plan to have kids or not, children or the future of society, period. Let's protect the traditional family.

Show me one straight couple that can naturally create a healthy newborn baby, and all straight couples should be allowed to marry.

Now...show me one homo couple that can naturally create a healthy newborn baby, and all homo couples should be allowed to marry. What's that you say? It's not possible? Well, that answers that!

    :-)

  • Artificial insemination, bitch.

  • What about me? I was born female on the outside and male on the inside.

I have the want to have a biological child but I can't. What about me?

And yes, Ian1732 is right :D Artificial insemination is the way me and the love of my life are going to get our children.

We want a child SO BAD we're going to pay THAT much for a child that's ours biologically. Think about it.

  • God is punishing this nation for turning their backs on him.all this immorality is destroying our world.we need God back in everything.thank you Lord that prop 8 passed.

  • This is a down side to Obama. Marriage is Man + Woman. Banning gay marriage is NOT discrimination:

    - We shouldn't let a man use the womans lockerroom just because he decides he's a woman.

    - We can't let a white male apply for a minority scholarhip because he's not a minority!

    - We can't let two men, or two women, or three men or women, or two men and a dog, get married becaue it is NOT a marriage.

You homos are welcome to have your unions. But unless you are man and woman, no marriage.

  • No can do.

  • This is disgusting and hateful. I hope one day our country will look back on Amendment 2 in shame. Marriage should be based on love and nothing else, especially not someone's religious agenda or misguided "separate but equal" thinking.

  • Yes! Amendment 2 Passed! For God's design.

    1 Corinthians 6:9-10

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes NOR HOMOSEXUAL OFFENDERS nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

  • Yes we won!

  • Yey, now we can propose new amendments from bible verses like "If a bride is found not to be a virgin, she is STONED TO DEATH" Deuteronomy 22. "Divorce is forbidden as is remarriage" Mark 10:1. "If a couple has sex while the woman has her period, THEY SHOULD BE KILLED." Leviticus 18:19 and of course "If you spill your seed unto the ground" YOU CAN BE KILLED. Genesis 38:9. Why not if this backward thinking amendment passed. Let's put those into motion too. Cuz those are not at all outdated either

  • We won!

  • damn homos... 1 men 1 women.....if not later people are going to be wanting to marry their dogs and horses

  • LIESSSS!!!!!!

  • Awful. These people are out of touch with fucking reality. Marriage should be a state institution to begin with. Let's make marriage an entirely religious practice and leave the states to define marriage in the civil sense logically, as the union between consenting adults.

  • EXACTLY.

Oh my god, you put it so succinctly, man. That's always what I've thought. Even though I believe in "marriage" for all, I understand why the religious right wants their sanctity: it's tradition! People need to realize that modern marriage is grounded in religious traditions. If "marriage" were to be more seen as a legal, state "union" between consenting adults, your country would be a much better place.

  • Separation of church and state means religious figures like the pope don't manage government, that's it. Twist it how you want, separation law has nothing to do with gay marriage. Floridians may have a different view of gays because FL happens to be one of the most popular gay spots in the country. I know I have to plan my trips to Key West with my family carefully so I don't expose my kids to naked men in fishnet suits dancing down the streets by the thousands.

  • Florida shows itself to be hopelessly backwater by the posts I'm reading here. Get your heads out of your bibles and pick up a newspaper. Gay people are part of our society and they deserve EQUAL protection under the law.

Separation of church and state exists for a reason -- anyone who tries to blend the two is unAmerican.

  • Homosexuality is a moral issue, not a civil rights issue. Homo's have the same right to marry the opposite sex as anyone else.

Homosexuality is a disfunction biologically. For males, the sperm has no utility in another male. For females, two ovums get nowhere without a male to fertilize them.

Homosexuality harms us all because it seeks to redefine gender meaning, and shakes a fist against God's word.

If homo marriage is okay, then group marriage is okay, they were "born" that way.

  • No one loses benefits except people who don't deserve them...like the gays and domestic partners...even the old folks that depend on it cuz I guess SEPARATE BUT EQUAL is in existance again. What a load of crap this is. I can't even believe this amendment was proposed. There are laws ALREADY for the ban of marriage of same sex couples, but this goes beyond to say they don't deserve benefits or hospital visits. I don't think I want to live in this state if this is approved. This is sickening!!!!!!

  • FYI...this has NOTHING to do with benefits. All this Amendment does, is take the current exsting laws and place them into the Constitution. Judges have the power to change laws at any time, but not Amendments. Placing the definition of marriage into the Constitution simpy protects it from being changed. Even the FL Supreme Court has ruled that this Amendment deals with the single issue of defining marriage, and nothing else!! This means it DOES NOT TAKE AWAY BENEFITS =)

  • No ON 2!

  • But didn't some of the men who were on God's side in the old days have more than one wife?

And isn't marriage one of those "inalienable" rights for American citizens?

I do admit I'm a bit fuzzy on the details for the amendment. I haven't read it yet. One of our shining gems in our constitution is that religious freedom, but it seems that can only be applied to a select group.

    I don't want to live in a theocracy, 'kay-thanks. :|

  • You ding dong, our country was founded as a theocracy. People came to America with the purpose of freely worshipping God in the first place. This country was established upon God's biblical principles. Even George Washington said, "It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible." I don't want to live in a democracy, 'kay-thanks. :I

  • Ding-dong. :D LOL.

You're right about that, and I admit completely forgot about it.

But then again, other countries have risen and fallen with other theocracies and democracies as well. ;/

I thought that those two cities fell because they kept their wealth all to themselves, as many countries did at that time, I'm sure. Then again, mine might be different since it's The New International version.

Ah, well. I'm gonna crawl back in my hole before I fall down and hurt myself. XD

  • LOL

Anyways, I checked my New International Version, and Jude 1:7 says, "In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They seve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire." Genesis 19:4-6 specifically mentions the sexual immorality of homosexuality in Sodom and Gomorrah. So even your NIV talks about the homosexuality of Sodom and Gomorrah - that's the same version that I found my info from =)

  • It's true..but it's something that I don't accept. I don't think it right to make someone a lesser status in society just based on their preferences, even if it does come from society's backbone.

If I did, I'd have to boycott football, for example, since people aren't supposed to touch pigskin (it's considered unclean, you know), and I'd call the people who come in contact with women unclean since women get their periods.

    But that's just me. ;/

  • everyone is saying about the bible and stuff but ever happened to separation of church and state?

  • This is all quite screwed up.

  • Sorry, it's a hateful, discriminatory amendment. And as such, it hurts everyone. Vote NO on amendment 2 in Florida and 8 in California. Equality means equality.

  • Its funny that the gov't is making the amendment sound simple. If it's that simple, why are they making it an amendment? We cant decide so the big gov't has to tell us what it means? Its sad as slowly but surely America creeps towards socialism.

  • Your right, the Amendment does sound fairly simple - but that's because it is ;) All its doing is defining marriage as a man and a woman. The reason we need an Amendment is for protection. We already have laws defining marriage, but, Judges can change laws at any given time - but...Judges can't change Amendments. Making an Amendment just makes it that much harder to redefine the definition of marriage as anything other than a man and a woman.

  • oh please nothing is ever simple with politics. theres always a hidden agenda.

  • hhhmmm, that's true sometimes. but i can honestly say there's no hidden agenda here : )

  • promise :-)

  • how can you know that for a fact? i highly distrust politics and its "promises" that they dont keep.

  • I do agree that marriage is between one man and one woman because the definition of marriage is defined in the Bible. But whats funny is that it says that no one loses benefits but what about the states that do allow gay marriage? An amendment barring samesex marriage is taking the benefits away from homosexuals.

  • I agree with buckeye. Nobody loses benefits. Everyone knows homosexuality is a disgustful abomination. God made Adam and Eve. This country must draw the line somewhere. Homos need to go back in the closet where they belong. That lifestyle is just not right. When ya'll can make a baby naturally, then you can come out the closet. LOL. YES ON 2.

  • Excuse me, love. Please define for me the "Gay lifestyle".

Also, should sterile heterosexual couples also not be allowed to marry?

    Think before you type.

  • What ever happened to love and tolerance that Christ preached? isn't that the foundation of all Christianity? Do you think Jesus would discriminate? You base you assumption that homosexuality is some sort of sin because God decided to wed a man a and a woman at the beginning of humanity for procreation? So because God didn't say anything about homosexuality it must be a sin? that makes no sense! that's not how things work! Adam and Eve HAD to be man/woman or humankind would not exist!

  • Just to let you know, God did address the sin of homosexuality in the Bible. Two ancient cities, Sodom and Gomorrah, were destroyed due to thier sinfullness (which specifically included homosexuality!) Romans 1:27 (in the Bible) also adressess the sin of homosexuality. The Bible also directly talks about homosexuality in Leviticus chamter 18, more specifically verse 22.

  • In case you don't have access to a Bible (to see that it addresses homosexuality), Romans 1:27 says, "In the same way men also abandoned naturaly relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."

  • yeah i have the New International Bible as well, i read the passage, i don't trust this version very much, and especially not versions such as the Living Bible, I would read the King James version, it is closer to the original version. Also, you should read the rest of the chapter, that was the penalty that God brought onto those people. Also, you may want to read the next chapter, Romans 2:1-4.

  • I'm slightly confused. You mentioned I should look up the verses in the KJV, which I did, and to me it still says homosexuality is sinful. You also said to read the rest of the chapter to see the penalty God brought upon those people...does that mean you acknowledge that God punished those who were homosexual? So if you ackowledge that homosexuality is sinful, and that God brought judgement upon those who practiced it, why would you support it?

  • I also read, as you suggested, Romans 2:1-4 (in the KJV). I want you to know that I am not judging anyone by any means. I am simply defending what the Bible says, and what I know to be true. All I was doing, was pointing out to you that the Bible does address homosexuality and that God punished those who practiced it. I was only stating the facts, not judging anyone for their actions. : )

  • ok i get that.

  • if you read Romans 1:24-27 in the Bible it seems to say that God brought homosexuality upon them as a punishment for their sinful lifestyle, that could be a mistranslation on my part because of the older English it was written in, but it says God "God gave them up unto vile affections" as if he brought that upon them.

Either way, I can support homosexuality and gay marriage b/c i believe that people are free to believe and act how they will even if it means suffering consequences.

  • Hmm, well, I have a different take on it. I believe that God cannot contradict himself. Leviticus 18:22 (in KJV) says, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind, it is abomination." In other words, dont be homosexual. In Romans, the verse is implying that God allowed the people to have what they asked for. He didnt put homosexuality upon them, He just didnt stop them. After all, He did create people with free will.

  • Does this mean that gays are sinners and lesbians are not? (no mention of womankind lying with womankind there). There are a number of translations with that one. I am wondering, are you bringing up of this bible quotation to make a religious point or a political point? If the latter, do you believe religion and politics should be interwoven?

By the way, I don't believe homosexuality is a choice, it is irrational to say you can change your sexual preference at a whim, I don't buy that.

  • When was the last "Straight Pride" parade? The entire "gay" political agenda is surrounded with special exceptions instead of equality. Even black history month is against MLK Jr.'s beliefs. Fight for equal treatment, and when you have it just be happy. Marriage has always been and will always be considered sacred, no matter how many abuse it. Figure out another way to be with your partner that doesn't call for a complete reform.

  • I completely agree with you I've been trying to tell people all along, "gay pride" and "black pride" perpetuates a collectivist mindset which endorses discrimination and racism because it is a mindset that views human beings as parts of groups, not as individuals with individual rights. But you sir are doing just that, giving certain groups the right to marriage and not others. That's not individual equality! you are supporting the same mindset you rejected! Separate is inherently unequal.

  • oh please God contradicts himself TOO MANY times in the bible. which is why i gave up on that.

  • The people of that time were so sinful that God finally allowed them to fall and experience the punishment for their sin. If God condemned homosexuality in Leviticus, why would he bring it upon mankind in Romans? Romans 1:26 says, God gave them up unto vile affections I take it to mean that God removed his hand of blessing from these people and allowed them to suffer the consequences for their actions.

  • honestly, no one will lose benefits here. this amendment does not prevent the government or private companies from extending benefits to whomever they wish. all this amendment does is take the existing marriage laws and secure them in the Constitution. judges have the power to change laws (redefine marriage) at any time-but judges cannot change amendments. placing this amendment into the Constitution simply potects the definition of marriage. nothing will change from the way it is now.

  • You're not realizing that it will affect many Old People and their domestic partnerships, and will thwart gays the right to civil unions. Not fair, loss of benefits come from the fact that they would not even be and option. This amendment is asking us to write hate into the Florida constitution. Period. Why would you want to be a part of that? Why would anyone? Because of fear. You don't understand the love between two guys/girls so you reject and fear it. Do not be afraid, Love is Love.

  • yeah sure. if it passes i'd like you to see what you complain about then. have you actually read the actual language of this? its very vague and anything vague can be defined however they see fit, just like the homegrown radicalization and terrorism prevention act and the USA Patriot act. fact is, nowhere in the constitution of the US and no govt on this earth has/or should have the right to dictate what we do with our personal lives. big brother, anyone?

  • How do you know for sure that this Amendment will affect the elderly and their domestic partnerships? I don't believe there's any proof of that...it's a deceiving tactic used by the opposition. And yes I have read the Amendment. All it does is define marriage as being between a man and a woman, is that so hard to understand? Even the FL Supreme Court has ruled that this Amendment deals with the single issue of DEFINING marriage, nothing else, no one loses benefits.

  • dude, its not about being proud to be able to inseminate your wife, its about acknowledging everyone is equal. "Separate but equal" has proven faulty. What I dont get about the "sanctity of marriage" stance is the belief that a gay marriage will undermine a straight marriage. How is that? Live and let live. As far as "churches being forced to allow same sex marriages on their property"? I doubt it would hold up in court. Its a church/state issue. And the beastiality comment...lol come on dude.

  • Hey, to all the homo-couples out there... I'm a guy, me and my wife are going to naturally make a baby. Lets see you do that! LOL.

    YES ON 2!

We must draw the line somewhere. If this amendment doesn't pass, next may come legalizing polygamy, beastiality, coed bathrooms, and other outrageous things. That isn't the culture in this country.

HECK YES,YES, YES ON AMENDMENT 2!

  • Have these people no morals?

Flat out lying about the effects of Amendment 2!

They should be ashamed of themselves.

This is a bad Amendment for straight couples and does not affect same-sex couple one bit. Same-sex marriage will still be illegal with or without this Amendment.

  • Your right, same-sex marriage will still be illegal with or without this Amendment - - but the question here is for how long? Right now, Judges have the power to over rule the current marriage laws. This amendment will simply solidify the marriage laws by placing them into the FL Consitution - that way Judges cannot change it. Judges can change laws, but not ammendments.

  • No one is arguing that no children raised by gay parents turn out fine. But studies do show that overall, children raised by gay parents do much more poorly than children raised by heterosexual parents and even children raised by single moms. Children need a mom and a dad. Women do not make good fathers. Men do not make good mothers.

  • This proposition makes me ill. Monogamously committed homosexuals need the rights and legal protections that marriage provides. I will be voting against No.2 and so will every right minded compassionate person I know.

  • Yet you show a lack of compassion for those who believe that committed polygamous relationships are legitimate and should not be criminalized. Once you rewrite the definition of marriage, what legal basis do you have to argue that marriage is only the union of two people? Why not three? What's your authority for limiting it to two?

  • You're wrong because you think policy derives from authority - I'm guessing in your case it's the Bible. Good policy doesn't derive from authority. Monogamy is a *demonstration* of mutual, undivided commitment, and *that* is a marriage.

Marriage is not all about family. It's about partnership. Are you married? Maybe you want to read your vows again. Did it mention children?

  • Children don't need to be publicly exposed to anything immoral. Legalizing gay marriage will make children think this lifestyle is ok, because the government is saying its ok. Just like children learn they should not steal (its illegal), and they shouldn't be viewing adult entertainment or smoking (until 18yrs), or drinking (until 21yrs). Now people are going to do bad things anyway and children may unfortunately be around it, but the government should not encourage it. Not in this country.

  • Amen!!

  • Homosexuality is neither a lifestyle choice nor illegal. I'll thank you to stop legislating one view of morality on the public.

No one needs government intrusion in their bedroom, no one needs the government telling them that love for the same gender is less worthy of protection than love for the opposite gender.

  • This amendment is NOT legislating. Judges do that by overstepping the the boundaries of law. Don't forget, one man's (figuratively) loss is another man's gain, the glass half full, is also half empty, one man's junk is another man's treasure. Simple solution: Majority rules!!

  • And you didn't even try to answer the question. By what LEGAL BASIS do you deny the "right" of a man and two women to be married? Your generic platitudes won't work in a court of law. I think you know that if gay marriage is legalized, there are no legal grounds to forbid other types of "marriage." Thus, all marriages lose their meaning. For you to admit the obvious would be to concede the point.

  • Being gay is a choice. Gays are just confused people. As buckeye3347 said, this amendment changes nothing, it just prevents someone from redefining marriage. Marriage has always been husband and wife. Our children need to be raised right.

My other comment was well warrented. If we allow this, what other crazy ideas will the gov't allow? Letting people change their race to get minority grants? Marrying people to inanimate objects? Come on people, use common sense. Vote Yes on 2.

  • Ask the gays in your family or your gay friends about how they feel and get the facts. You're wrong on this.

  • "Children raised by gay parents will end up gay"????

Um. This shows how ignorant some people are.

Being gay is not a choice, it is genetic and as a Christian AND a mother, I find it appalling that some people would like some of God's children to be legally disallowed from being a family. Disgusting.

  • Thank you gator girl...and just shows this person knows nothing about our system. Before foster care they sleep on the floors of offices waiting for a temporary home provided mostly by folks looking for extra income not the best interest of the child. Maybe whocoulditbe123 is opening their home. Pfft. put your money and convictions where your mouth is.

  • No one is preventing "God's children...from being a family". A family IS a family if more than two people want it to be a family. Homosexuality has been around thousands of years however, the "idea" marriage between homos has only raised its ugly head within the past 15/20 years. Nobody cares if you live together, or the kind of sex you do, but you do have choices: Move to Mass., have your attorney take care of all your legals rights to hospital visits, go back in the closet, get over it!

  • This amendment will not prevent the government or private companies to give benefits to whomever they want. This amendment simply takes the existing marriage law and places it into our Constitution - all this will do is prevent judges from redefining the marriage laws we currently have in place.

  • hey....whocouldibe123...you can NOT relate pedophiles with gay couples. give me a BREAK. sex with the same gender doesn't make one a child rapist. And who told you that kids become gay if raised by gays. You're either gay or your not. and if all sin is the same...which is what my bible says than NONE of us are fit for parenting as we ALL have sin. so again....someone give me a substantial argument 4 this. Im pro-life and republican WHY cant gays raise the kids we want to save from murder??

  • ok, Im a republican and a Christian...but I have to ask...how can we be pro-life and not allow gay families to raise children? So we reverse Row vs Wade...Abortion becomes illegal. Who will raise all of these adoptable babies? Aren't they better off in a same sex family then in a foster home or murdered? I know several gay couples that would make great parents...Someone provide a substantial argument for this...please

  • children raised by gay parents will end up gay. that is an abomination. children are better off in good foster homes than with a gay/les couple. If the children are in danger at the foster home, then they should be moved to a new foster home. Gays should not be allowed to raise our children, the future of this nation, into their abomination of a lifestyle. Why not just let pediphiles or serial killers raise kids too?

  • Why are people so threatened by letting gays marry? Are their own relationships so pathetic that they have to worry about what someone else is doing? Mind your business.

    No on 2.

  • The man who started this campaign recently complained that not a single opponent of Amendment 2 was willing to debate him on the topic "Gay Marriage and the Welfare of Children." Why not? Because even proponents of gay marriage know that every single credible study proves that children of same sex, gay parents do worse in every area than children of single moms. If you care about children, then you must support this amendment because children are the ones who will suffer if tis fails.

  • Gay marriage is a threat to our kids. Kids need to grow up in an environment knowing what is right. Married couples need to be able to procreate, have children, in a loving household with a father and mother. Being gay is a choice, a bad and stupid choice, a wrong choice. THE LAW SHOULD NOT REWARD PEOPLE FOR MAKING A LIFE CHOICE THAT IS AGAINST THE BIBLE (being gay, stealing, adultery, killing, etc.). If you want to do wrong, do it on your own, without help from the court.

    YES ON 2!

  • You can believe whatever you want about gay marriage and anything like that. Im not gay, but I just don't see your argument as being strong. You say that laws should not go against the bible. However, it is in our constitution that tells us we have a freedom of religion. Why is it then, that you believe we can have laws based off of a religion, forcing non-christians to live by that religion?

  • All homosexual and marriage definitions aside. You said the law should not go against the bible. I ask you this however; If it says in the constitution that we have the freedom of religion, why then should we base our laws off of the christian bible making non-christians live by values of a religion they do not believe in. Religion has no place in terms of creating laws. Not everyone in the U.S. is christian and i think it is ignorant to think so.

  • Idiots.

  • This *commercial* for the proposed amendment is a lie. It tells only half the truth. This amendment will also forever ban Civil Unions and will make domestic partnership laws already on the books in 38 jurisdictions in Florida unconstitutional. It will cost thousands of straight Floridians the protection that domestic partnership laws provide.

Before you vote please, read the ENTIRE amendment. They're not telling you that Florida already has severel laws forbidding same-sex marriage.

  • BAN SAME-SEX MARRIAGE! Gay couples can't procreate. With the exception of medical/health reasons...if you can't make your own child, you shouldn't be allowed to raise a child.

    YES ON 2!

  • My sister in law can't have children so she shouldn't have been able to marry my brother? If amendment 2 passes then it should be illegal for heterosexual couples to divorce if the have children. SO VOTE NO ON 2.

  • wrong. not true. if amendment 2 passes, things stay the way they are. everyone remains happy. the fags and dykes will get get over it. one man, one woman, that's a marriage YES ON 2!

  • How old are you? You can't make an argument without degrading to name calling. You are definitely not a person of faith and may god have mercy on your petty, lonely soul. Gays and Lesbians are not a threat to you.

  • Marriage should be banned altogether. Separation of church and state please. Civil unions only.

  • Right on!

  • I agree. Religion has no place in law. We are in the 21st century and not in the 1600's. I feel as though the U.S. can never get rid of their conservative and prude Puritan lifestyle and that is a shitty outlook.

  • YES ON AMENDMENT 2!!!

Marriage has always been husband and wife. Why are people trying to change this?! Its in the dictionary! I don't even know why this is up for debate. Lets protect the sanctity of marriage. I mean what's next, if this doesn't pass, are they going to let people marry animals too? Will we see some hillbilly trying to marry his pig and fight for equal rights? LOL. Fools. These people need Jesus. To reproduce, you need a man and woman. End of discussion. YES ON 2!

  • This ad just proves how hateful some people are. They tell half truths and flat our lies just to promote bigotry. No on 2.

  • it is pretty sad that some people really have nothing better to do than attempt to pass legislation that has absolutely NOTHING to do with them and does not benefit anyone.. VOTE NO ON AMENDMENT 2 [[also, vote NO on Prop 102 in arizona and NO on 8 in california]]. :]

  • What a bunch of prejudiced wingnuts the people who posted this video are!

Florida already has a discriminatory amendment which limits marriage to a man and a woman. What this new legislation would do is prevent civil unions as well and would deny benefits to anyone who isn't married, not just homosexuals.

  • Say No to Ammendment 2. giant4203 is right, it's wrong and unnecessary.

  • read the amendment, please.

  • Not only is Amendment 2 wrong, it's also unnecessary. There are already 4 laws in place in Florida that bans gay marriage. This will only hurt unmarried Floridians.

  • But laws can be changed, amendments can't.

  • Say NO Amendment2

  • Amendment 2 is bad for Floridians. It would take away benefits from all. The most recent polls show Floridians are moving in this direction the more they understand the harm the so-called Marriage Protection Amendment really inflicts on unmarried people. Support for this bad amendment has dropped from 58% to 53%, short of the 60% needed to change our state constitution. My gay son may never ever pass on life in the biological sense, but he can certainly pass on and support life in other ways.

  • It has nothing to do with benefits, it is simply defining marriage, and it does not take away benefits thats companies can give out to whomever they want.

  • There is nothing "simple" about this proposed amendment. I will vote no to this lame attempt to constitutionalize discrimination in my state. Vote NO on 2!

  • Just an observation: The actor who plays the groom looks kinda gay to me. I really don't think it's going to work out. I'm voting No on 2 so he won't feel like a second class citizen once he figures things out and finds his soul mate.

  • lol, glad I wasn't drinking anything.

  • soo now gays and lesbians cant love another.

pepole have the right and should be allowed to get married to who they chose. america is not a 3rd world country where some have their partners picked for them. no on 2

  • This commercial is completely false! Whether you give the Amendment a quick read or a thorough read, one will come to the same conclusion - this is bad legislation for both heterosexual couples and same-sex couples. Vote NO on 2.

  • Gay marriage is here...get used to it!

  • Wow... it's amazing! People are actually believing this propaganda. The problem lies in the language of the amendment... Because no other forms of marriage will exist, thousands of Florida residents who are involved in a common-law marriage will lose health care benefits. GAY OR NOT! Who wants to throw the baby out with the bathwater? DO YOUR HOMEWORK! KNOW WHAT YOU'RE VOTING FOR! READ BETWEEN THE LINES! I'm voting NO on 2... I hope you consider doing the same.

  • As you can see, their ad repeats the lie that Amendment 2 does only one thing defining marriage as a union of a man and a woman. And, no one loses benefits.

They know thats not true. Amendment 2 prohibits anything that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof an undefined and dangerous provision that could actually take existing rights and benefits away from millions of Floridians.

  • VOTE NO on amendment 2 !!!!

  • Vote Yes on Amend 2!!

  • I'll be doing early voting tomorrow here in Florida and I'll be voting NO on Amendment 2. Discrimination has no place in America.

  • Added to my favorites; added to my playlists. Vote Yes to Amendment 2.

  • I can not believe that people are so stupid and blind to what this amendment is all about, its ads like this that get the "uninformed" peoples votes, they are all like "marriage is good vote yes on 2" when this amendment is just downright EVIL... God intended on people to be happy, if he thought being gay was so wrong he wouldnt have created gay people in the first place.... so PLEASE VOTE NO NO NO NO NO on 2!!!!

  • VOTE NO ON TWO. This ad is not deceptive folks, it is an outright LIE. NO ON TWO, NO ON TWO , NO ON TWO!

  • THIS ad is making it a gay issue. Amendment 2 WILL take away benefits from ANYONE ( gay or straight ) who are domestic partnered. 80% of floridian domestic partners are STRAIGHT , so saying yes will take benefits from them as well as GAY. Seniors who are collecting benefits from a previous marriage and are now domestic partnered will LOOSE benefits from his or her widow. DO YOUR RESEARCH people , this is not about gay or straight this is about EQUALITY

    SAY NO 2 Amendment 2 !!!

  • And while you're at it, please stick your tongue on this frozen metal lamp post. Oh, and I have a bridge you may be interested in buying....

  • where is the outrage VOTE NO on amendment 2 !!!!

  • I believe FireWithinMusic made everyone's point for them. Vote NOon2! Protect the REAL sancity of marriage. Vote NO on 2 and don't look like a biggot. Gay Marriage is already not allowed in Florida.

Keep your politics out of my bedroom.

  • Being a bigot is a worse crime than being straight or gay. Have you ever heard of any hate crimes being committed against any straight person just for them being who they are or being open about being straight? NO...NEVER happened... I would rather defend the values of our society and prevent bigots from freely spouting their hatred and insults to anyone in hopes that someone will adopt their insecurities, and in turn make them feel right about the discrimination that they are imparting.

  • Your attitude is like this, and you're accusing of US being sick to culture? We arent all faries and parade dwellers. Me marrying my boyfriend wont threaten your marriage!

  • More of my thoughts on this amendment:

The amendment would have an especially harsh impact on Florida''s large senior population, many of whom form domestic partnerships rather than remarry after they are widowed in order not to risk losing essential benefits. Same-sex couples, who are already denied the right to marry by law, would now be denied the right to any kind of meaningful legal protection.

  • This is my interpretation of what this amendment will do to Floridians:

The amendment will ban all recognition and benefits for unmarried couples, straight and gay. It will block civil unions, domestic partnership and repeal existing protections and family benefits relied upon by millions of Floridians.

  • If gay marriage threatens your marriage...."get thee to a marriage counsler"

I,m married, straight and outraged.VOTE NO!

  • 4 out of 5 Southern Baptist divorcees want gays to stop undermining the sanctity of marriage. Vote NO on 2!

  • Nothing warms my hart like rednecks trying to write bigotry into their state constitution.

  • Vote NO for this kind of hatred. LOVE makes a family, gay or straight. We can only pass life to the next generation if we have a world of fairness and justice for ALL.

    Vote NO on Amendment 2!

  • That is not true. It also denies companies from providing health care and visitation rights to their domestic partnership.

This ad is a plain Lie.

  • I got a big old NO for this crap. Can't wait to vote on Weds. Gimme a break. Homosexuals are "ruining" marriage. How can that be with a 50% divorce rate for heterosexuals??? Same rights for all Americans. I thought church and state were separate? Their beliefs are not all beliefs. Don't just vote NO, vote HELL NO!

  • The poster who said "one TIME" was right. American pseudo Christians practice only what they like. Americans like polygamy and polyandry but are afraid to admit it so they do it on the installment plan - only one wife/husband at a time.

    Hypocrites!!!!!

  • A constitution, be it local or federal, should be about giving rights to people -- not taking them away.

    Vote NO.

  • Too bad that these people are pagans. If they were Christians they would insist that all people are children of God and all have the exact same rights and responsibilities before God.

These people are phony Christians and are really just pagans trying to insinuate that God only likes people who are heterosexual.

Lies, lies and more lies. Why is it that they don't seem to have any shame about being liars.

  • Vote NO on Amendment 2. The Florida state constitution is no place for bigotry.

  • Liberty and justice for all - not some. Vote No on 2. When Obama is president - we will allow republicans to marry each other.

  • These are the same people who fought against interracial marriage and murdered scientists who claimed the earth was round. Same sex marriage is here...get used to it!

  • One man, one woman, one TIME. How about that? ONE TIME. Now thats how you can really protect marriage from all the straight people with their multiple marriages, leaving small groups of children behind as they move from one spouse to another. ONE TIME. No divorce. Thats the way to really protect marriage.

  • FLAG THIS VIDEO UNDER: "Hateful or Abusive Content: Promotes Hatred or Violence". The quote: "Say yes to pass life to the next generation", promotes the claim that homosexuality would bring death.

  • Denying rights is not the American way. Why don't you read the Declaration of Independence, the US Bill of Rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Aside from this fact, Amendment 2 is NOT about marriage. This constitutes false advertising and I will get this removed.

  • Answer to lailinde: This nation would be much better off if we resumed a traditional lifestyle as in the "Leave it to Beaver" generation than to be rewarding the Hollywood "elite" with their nausiating, "in your face" lifestyles. Our children would learn the lessons of "right from wrong" instead of "anything goes" with a father and mother teaching them Godly princlples. They never go out of style!

  • Prop 2 makes me sick!

  • I dont get how amending the constition for the first time ever to DENY rights could sound ok?? FOR ANYONE this is very unamerican and im way to patriotic to vote yes on amendmet 2...

  • How can any of us vote yes on this?? Especially when we value so strongly things like "Live and let live", "Treat others how you want to be treated", "FREEDOM", "RIGHTS", "Respect of diferences" Sadly i could go on all day and not skip a beat! I guess what im trying to say is this strongly gos against what we as americans stand for.

  • What a major lie! Trying to convince people that they won't lose rights, when all this amendment does is strip people of their rights!

  • This whole argument about homosexuality being against nature, is irrelevant and unsubstantial. I dare anyone to unequivocally and undeniably define human nature. Homosexuality has existed throughout man's existence, and although I am not a participant, you can God Damn rest assured if any man or woman tries to deny these people their rights as human beings I will be the first person to disobey and do everything necessary to restore these rights.

  • Your awesome!

  • YOU ROCK! Keep it up man!

  • "No one loses benefits," So for the people that do lose benefits, I guess this campaign implies that the people that are affected by this are not people and therefore are not deserving of the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Which this amendment tries to take away from all people.

  • With Amendment 2 all civil unions and domestic partnerships in Florida (even between straight couples) will no longer be valid. The Amendment does say "No Other Legal Union" shall be legal. But, it's cool. It's awesome to deny people the right to marriage and all of the legal benefits that are tied to it. They want to marry for benefits, not to ruin your precious "institution" of marriage. Load of crap.

  • What a stupid commercial, they're trying to make life in modern times look more like "Leave it to Beaver....."

  • Wow, I've heard plenty of bogus claims, but these are just flat out LIES.

I agree with zekester, "No Other Legal Union and the Substantial Equivalent Thereof" means they will take benefits away from ANY civil union, whether it is a gay couple, senior citizens, or a heterosexual couple who isn't married.

Florida already bans gay marriage. If that's all its trying to do, its pointless. They are hiding and denying the real issue..denying benefits and hospital privileges for ANY unmarried couple.

  • barf - what a stupid add and stupid amendment - I still ahven't heard a convincing argument for why marraige needs "protecting"

  • Last week in SF, first gragers were sent, against the wishes of some of their parents, to participate in a gay wedding. Because a handful of judges overruled the will of the people in California, no one can do anything about it. The fact remains that in every single case where gay marriage was legalized, the forced indoctrination of children followed and speech against homosexuality was criminalized as a hate crime. The bottom line is, children need a mom and dad. Let's talk about THEIR rights!

  • The language used in Amendment 2 scares me, what exactly does No Other Legal Union and the Substantial Equivalent Thereof mean? It's open to a wide range of interpretation by our courts. Gay marriage is already illegal, why do we need an ambivalent worded amendment added to our constitution. Do we da
