Same thing happened to me, but they asked the manager and I got it anyway. This was August 30th.

@Tuscuttar I think it was just a miscoordination amongst the Walmart folks. I was at the 24-hour Walmart late at night (1am) during their restock. They had pallets everywhere, amongst them the NERF Stampedes. I asked one of the employees if I could have one, and they gave it too me, probably unaware of the street date (there was no date on the packing box). Their computers are aware of the street date though!

@Vengenz666 The Stampede does not officially release until September 8, 2010. Walmart's register computer had a "flag" on it, so they couldn't sell it to me.
