That's just how some two dumb white Americans (George M. McCune and Edwin O. Reischauer) made the translations to the Roman alphabet known as the McCune–Reischauer Romanization. They incorrectly spelled 김치 as Kimchee. It should've been Gimchee or Gimchi. 'ㄱ' is a 'g' while 'ㅋ' is a 'k'. Got it?
