As a Native Hawaiian and a Hawaiian Studies student, I am thrilled to see Filipinos (and other people of various ethnic origin) showing their appreciation and helping to perpetuate the Native Hawaiian culture. Part of keeping Native Hawaiian culture and hula alive is by sharing it with the others which is probably one of the intentions of this post. On a separate note, culture is not inherited through biology. I've seen some Filipinos embody more Hawaiian spirit and culture than some Hawaiians.
Mahalo nui loa for the post. This was one of the first songs I learned to dance to as a little girl in Iwalani's halau.
