the only thing my cat hates other than the living room's air conditioner she often jumps on and gets scared to jump off till we get her... is the sink.. she HATES it. if i get her anywhere near it she will cry meow and hide in my hair that usually falls on my shoulders lol.. maybe because her first bath was such a traumatic experience for her when she was a baby.. well she needed it and she now is such a clean cat that she doesnt need it anymore... ye my cat hates water >.<

Paradise! I've had 4 in my lifetime. At the moment I have just the one seal point and a plain black moggie. I've had all kinds of long haired pedigree cats and apart from the Persian Silver Tabby, I have to say the Birman character is unbeatable. Have you posted any clips of Chocco yet? I take it from his name he must be a seal point.

My birmans love the sink... I think it's more because they can take out the drain and spread all the mould from the drain pipe all over the bathroom!

One of them is obsessed with watching the toilet. If it looks like you're going to flush it, she runs up to you and sticks her head over the side.

Dior...nice name. Many years ago I bought a Birman for $2 and that was his name "Twobucks". Then one day a ginger stray cat moved in with me.....her name was "Purpose" because if you pick her up she purred and if you put her down she pissed all over the house.....walla...."Purpose". Today I have a Birman I found in a barn about ten years ago when she was a few days old....her name is "Asshole".....how she got it....don't ask.

my mum`s best firend used to have a couple of briman cats... if you tried to tidy up one of them would sit on your shoulders (i never knew how they manged to do it, as i was always standing up when they tried to get on) and would refuse to get off.. birmans are really adorable :)

I have a Birman too (see "Winter's Here to Stay") and as a grown up, she also surprises me when I step into the bathroom, having claimed my sink for her resting place. I only find her there in the summer months, so I think it may have something to do with the coolness of the sink, and just being the perfect size to curl up comfortably.

My family has three birmans! all blue point. The oldest is Sonny (age15?), and the other two are brother and sister; Zak and Zoe (age 3). Sonny never lie in the sink, but the Zak and Zoe do all the time! Good video!

Wow, I didn't realize just how beautiful he was until he got up out of the sink! This blue point is striking! Birmans are listed as large cats. Sadly, so much inbreeding is making them smaller, but this big boy looks beautiful, nice full coat. I have always wanted a birman, or two.

This video reminds me of my lovely Birman boy, Calvin (1991-2005). Birmans are playful and loving and don't you just love their prissy little walk! The common problem with Birmans is congenital kidney disease which is ultimately what got my little boy, although he lived a fairly long life with the proper diet and treatment. Early diagnosis is the key though.

Birmans have thick fur; they are designed by the Gods to live in environments between 30 and 55 degrees. That actually is the best temperatures for the thick coated cats.Anything over 55 degrees and you had better have an air conditioner otherwise they will have heat strokes.

The sink is very cooling to the cat's body. It helps to regulate her temperature in the summer. You can substitute by buying Asian furniture that have granite or stone tile inserts in the seat area. Usually cushions are placed on top of the stone tile inserts in the winter months. Just common sense here.
