He sounds as good pushing 80 as Sinatra did singing this song at 40. I'm fanatical about Sinatra. But his voice doesn't compare to ol' Steve's here. Amazing.
I got to see him in concert this past February. He is truly a legendary performer. His vocals hasn't changed a bit, wonderful concert. I wish that he would make DVD's of his concerts available. That would really be a treasure to have!
thnaks Eric...I was at that concert too (even got to shake his hand as he walked onto the stage). This video serves as a great reminder of a wonderful evening!
I "discovered" Steve Lawrence about three years ago. I can't believe how long I've been on the planet without really recognizing his incredible artistry. I you can get ahold of old dvd's of the Carol Burnett show, he's on it a lot and you find out how good he is at sketch comedy. What a great career. He could have been a fine actor, too, if he had focused on it. But what a voice!
Eric - THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING!!!!!!! Gang.....just for the record I have emailed Steve & Eydie several times in the past year about doing a new CD.....no response at all!! It seems all of the performers that we like (streisand, buble, connick, jr, etc) have all put out a new cd lately. Nothing from these two though... :( It says on the website that Eydie is no longer touring....what does that mean?? Is she sick, disabled? I get so frustrated because I love them so much!
I wonder if when he was singing on stage if he was missing his partner in life, and his career partner. Eydie has such a presence and is loved by all.
Top drawer, fellas...

Sinatra left all of his arrangements to Steve in his will- the classic charts all belong to Mr. Lawrence

I am baffled as to how this guy sounds so good at THIS age.
All of my favorites have either died or vocally fallen apart- not this guy!
Truly wonderful Mr. Lawrence

Singing as well as ever, his voice has lasted the course better than any of the other people of his era. Great to see Vinnie Falcone too !

performance by Steve. Must have been a
