@MapleMan14 Just double checked mine and the safety engages if it is loaded or not. Whether that is by design or because my grandfather adjusted it to made it work that way, I have no idea.
Enjoy firing it. The first ten shots are glorious. The next ten.... not as pleasant on the shoulder.

@haleynbailee4eva The scope mount was something added 50 years ago by my grandfather, so I cannot say for sure where or how he got it.

I just got this rifle with a ram-line stock instead. I can't wait to fire it!
Also, can you only use the safety when a round is in the chamber? I can't seem to push my safety back by itself.
