this movie and a few others made me think about heroin alot. The curiosity to see how it feels. Its been 5 years since i first saw it and i ve never tried, but propably i am in a few days!!
@atrios28 Sorry, I misread your question. It all depends on the individual; some will find Heroin easier to quit while some will find Physeptone easier to quit. Although since it's a drug designed to wean people off smack, I imagine that the withdrawal symptoms are not as strong.
watching this video makes me think trainspotting is just a master piece, this scene takes me to scotland for a few minutes until it ends...lovely atmosphere and grey day... thats what scotland is...
This scene is just fucking amazing, Danny Boyle created a masterpeice when making this, he should go back to his roots and make more films like this & Shallow Grave.
Slumdog Millionaire was great, but this is outstanding.
@lincipici .scottish do speak english mate and believe it or not this is toned down scottish.this is shot in edinburgh.wait till you hear the glasgow accent.
@luuko656 his name is peter mullen. he has been in quite a lot of things but recently he directed and acted in the film Neds. its another good scottish film if u want to check it out but its not as good as trainspotting
i seen a guy od once he fell out the door of a public toilet right on the ground in front of me and i called an ambulance and this girl who was with him was gettin instructions on resuscitation down the phone she was crying her eyes out and i was tellin her she was doin a good job, the paramedics got there pretty fast and gave him an antidote and he woke up and the first thing he said was does anybody have a smoke. i gotta say i really do respect the emergency services who do that stuff daily.
He was being given methadone in the rehab. Methadone is an opioid that does not create euphoria, and therefore is used in rehab. When he took heroin, its effects on respiration are potentialized with the methadone in his system, therefore his respiration was slowed dangerously (notice cyanotic lips). The doctor in the ER gives him naloxone (Narcan) to block the effects of opiates in his system, therefore his respiration becomes normal again.
@lletah Do you really think anyone in this world could ever have taken heroin for that reason?? I'm sorry ... I don't like to be offensive but if you think that you're really an idiot
I don't think he overdosed it's more of what's called "Opiate paradise" Meaning he just took a non lethal overdose meaning he was only unconsious. A overdose is more when a person stops breathing and ultiumntly dies but the good thing is there is no pain whatsoever he wouldn't of known anything about it until he woke up in hospital
I've accidentally OD'd too and been injected with Narcan, too! That shit is HORRIBLE. What Trainspotting fails to convey is that that injection IMMEDIATELY sends your body into withdrawal. Awful fucking HORRIBLE withdrawal.
I woke up on my floor, surrounded by EMT's and cops. I was begging them for a blanket and water. I was SOOOO cold and thirsty. Violently shivering.
They refused to relieve my misery and let me suffer till I got to the hospital. Fuckin' pigs. God, I hate them.
@HeroinForever hey yeah i od'd on Morphine and yes went into serious withdrawal i too woke up on the floor with no idea what had happened. there weren't cops there just emt's
they shouldn't have used this song for this scene. now this song is universally known as a heroin song. they completely changed the significance of it.
@Wh0rse It's either because he was off of heroin for a few weeks.. ( I don't think they say exactly how long he was on Methadone).. or the stuff he got was stronger than usual.
This EXACT thing happened to me once... my family rushed me to the fucking hospital and what did the doctors/nurses do? let me LAY THERE and chanced me dying because they said (he should have known what he was doing) SWEAR TO GOD! i lived but only because i got a Tolerance like an elephant!.. im so fucking happy im out of that goddamned lifestyle.. ugh..

@MrRobato7900007 Opium is organic it's just the morphine alkaloids that are converted into heroin, Heroin is also a wonder drug used properly it gives cancer patients the will to go on. I say this but I've just come off a 6 month binge and will never do heroin again shits bad changes everything about you.
@1379gerardo £10 per 10mg I only started using it because I was using around £10 worth of DHC a day and thought it would be cheaper and get me higher which it did at first till I ended up using about .8 a day. Take it from me I have detoxed from DHC, fent and heroin in the past year and heroin is by far the worst to come off.
that needle in his arm with the blood gushing out made me sick. now i definitely know i wont go to medical school. Ewan mcgregor is such a great actor!
One of the best films ever made. I remember some dumb arsehole politicians suggesting this would encourage drug use...lol. I like the hippocrasy between legal and illegal drug taking exposed by the film. Renton should be getting smack from a GP not a Mother Superior.
@k2xplorer77 yeah i thought that too. They really didn't give a totally accurate portrayal of heroin use in this movie. Of course.. the movie, like the book, was meant more to be a dark, hilarious tableau. And not necessarily a social commentary of any kind.

@jwild611 never an addict but i've used it a few times. It's nothing really all that special to be quite honest. It's.. nice. I mean it's snoozy and quiet and soft and fuzzy. But lots of things are like that. Not my personal drug of choice.
@jwild611 True stuff man stay away from those synthetics aswell fent turned me into an animal mind you cleaner and better than when I was banging .8 a day
@ooohyeahnachoman It should be enabled, I never really messed around with the embedding portions of the video. It could be that copyright claims prevent it from being embeddable in certain parts of the world, sometimes turning it off completely.
@magicgreenhat Yeah nah It's not able to be embedded, I've been trying to post it on facebook for a while and just linked it right now. But it still doesn't let you view it on the facebook wall -_-
the naloxone (narcan) part with the ambulance was so realistic. This movie portrays the life of a junkie the best imo. The way the mother superior hardly gave a damn dragging the dude to the ambulance when he ODd and how he just suddendly *woke up* in the hospital after being revived
man how much better would it be if drugs were just legal, so let's say you OD on heroin (which would be less likely to happen), you just call the medic or maybe even have your own little narcan shot & instructions handy.
@wooboy11 um...no. the song that starts out when the clip starts and ends at :38 is most certainly a recording by Blur. I'm well aware that the next song is by Lou Reed. ;)
@kidcalabria I don't think it's drugs being illegal that's the problem. The thing that got me to be into them are tons of books and other crap that make drugs sound so effing exciting (like Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo or even Trainspotting). If at that time I was able to actually talk to a real opiates addict (or just see him over the internet as there are some videos on youtube now) instead of reading all those books, I wouldn't even want to try them.
man, that narcan shit SUCKS! I once OD'd on morphine and valium. I woke up with my dad, 3 paramedics, my brother and 2 cops pacing around my tiny bedroom.
When they hit me with that narcan crap, I snapped awake (just like the movie) I immediately vomited and began begging for a blanket and a huge glass of water. I was FREEZING and so thirsty for water I might as well have been lost in the Sahara desert for a week.
The EMT's were dicks... they did not give me water or a blanket.
We all need to get over this long, hard, day. We all need to feel the comfort of the ritual. We all need to see it explained in music, and astounding visuals. (We've all felt the ambulances dim headlights.) Mr Boyle magically achieves these feelings for us. Enjoy his talent.
I realized that Danny Boyle makes BANGIN movies. If you really like this you're going to like, The Beach, Slumdog Mill, 127 hours... His movies have such a different appeal to it. I can't really explain it, It has the directors style, his movie... danny goes in detail. Ex*- Needle going inside, it would show the heroin going inside... and has the sound affects to it. This movie is close to 127 hours :)
No one expects some one who hasnt been there to possibly ever understand. A person once told me be careful of what you judge for one day you might have to walk through it.
i think all of this heroin shit is scary as fuck ! i've never tried it and i never will... i don't get why some people wanna try it... some people don't care about friends or family, fucking selfcentered pathetic no lifers ! they're just a good example of how stupid some people can be and how little they care about society ! "DO U THINK THEY WANTED 2 BECOME ADDICTS?" don't ask that stupid question... they took the syringe, they had a choice, 2 bad they were 2 dumb 2 figure out the right choice !
@xXAeon89Xx A brief, incomplete list of "self-centred, pathetic no-lifers" for you then: Marcus Aurelius, Homer, Wagner, Edith Piaf, Modigliani, Baudelaire, Thomas De Quincey, Jean Cocteau, Otto Von Bismarck, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Lincoln (President Lincoln's wife), Lord Byron, Keats, Shelley, S T Coleridge, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, William S Burroughs, Keith Richards, Iggy Pop, & many other philosophers, artists, musicians, etc... list's too long.. "too dumb" indeed!
@kidcalabria those are the few successfull people, yeah, i'm aware that some people can keep doing their work when high on heroin, but let's take a look at the other list... the people who beg 4 money or use all their money on heroin, that list is even longer ! just like there are less successfull people who drink or smoke pot than people with average wage or no job at all, cus there are more of them than others... but let's keep cannabis out of this, we all know it's not dangerous !
@xXAeon89Xx You're absolutely right, but one of the reasons why people in the past could lead decent lives while addicted to opiates was because it was legal. In the UK it was legal til 1967. The fact that it's illegal is the biggest problem: expensive, drugs cut with all kinds of shit, health problems, risking of being in trouble with the law, the social stygma, running around & waiting for hours for dealers, having to mix with scumbags & criminals... that's enough to fuck up anybody's life...
@kidcalabria i guess it wouldn't be bad trying to legalize all dugs for a while and see how everything drops in the crimerate... and really, it's all about one's morals... if u don't drink, ok, if u don't smoke, ok, but i love drinking and smoking pot... i don't like anything else that much...
from 1:59 that scared me enough to not experiment with hard drugs. i would not like to be dragged by the ankles down the stairwell with me head bouncing against concrete stairs.
i overdosed last week.. 4 seconds after the shot i felt soo euphoric.. my girlfriend kept slapping me and she was freaking out while i was in complete bliss.. if i wouldve died it would have been soo peaceful
Probably the best soundtrack I have ever seen... this and The Good , the bad and the ugly....hard...

wish yould have enabled embedding :/
ooohyeahnachoman 10 months ago 3
@ooohyeahnachoman It should be enabled, I never really messed around with the embedding portions of the video. It could be that copyright claims prevent it from being embeddable in certain parts of the world, sometimes turning it off completely.
magicgreenhat 10 months ago 4
@magicgreenhat Yeah nah It's not able to be embedded, I've been trying to post it on facebook for a while and just linked it right now. But it still doesn't let you view it on the facebook wall -_-

the naloxone (narcan) part with the ambulance was so realistic. This movie portrays the life of a junkie the best imo. The way the mother superior hardly gave a damn dragging the dude to the ambulance when he ODd and how he just suddendly *woke up* in the hospital after being revived
cheesypuff800 10 months ago
@cheesypuff800 atleast mother superior actually called a taxi and gave him his money back i know some dealers who just dump in the allie

i get goosebumps whenever i see this scene. i think i cried. its so fucking perfect.
cactusitude 10 months ago 3
man how much better would it be if drugs were just legal, so let's say you OD on heroin (which would be less likely to happen), you just call the medic or maybe even have your own little narcan shot & instructions handy.

If at that time I was able to actually talk to a real opiates addict (or just see him over the internet as there are some videos on youtube now) instead of reading all those books, I wouldn't even want to try them.
bubaHRV 10 months ago
man, that narcan shit SUCKS!

Enjoy his talent.
galensolomon 10 months ago
I realized that Danny Boyle makes BANGIN movies. If you really like this you're going to like, The Beach, Slumdog Mill, 127 hours... His movies have such a different appeal to it. I can't really explain it, It has the directors style, his movie... danny goes in detail. Ex*- Needle going inside, it would show the heroin going inside... and has the sound affects to it. This movie is close to 127 hours :)

i think all of this heroin shit is scary as fuck ! i've never tried it and i never will... i don't get why some people wanna try it... some people don't care about friends or family, fucking selfcentered pathetic no lifers ! they're just a good example of how stupid some people can be and how little they care about society ! "DO U THINK THEY WANTED 2 BECOME ADDICTS?" don't ask that stupid question... they took the syringe, they had a choice, 2 bad they were 2 dumb 2 figure out the right choice !
xXAeon89Xx 10 months ago
@xXAeon89Xx A brief, incomplete list of "self-centred, pathetic no-lifers" for you then: Marcus Aurelius, Homer, Wagner, Edith Piaf, Modigliani, Baudelaire, Thomas De Quincey, Jean Cocteau, Otto Von Bismarck, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Lincoln (President Lincoln's wife), Lord Byron, Keats, Shelley, S T Coleridge, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, William S Burroughs, Keith Richards, Iggy Pop, & many other philosophers, artists, musicians, etc... list's too long.. "too dumb" indeed!
kidcalabria 10 months ago
@kidcalabria those are the few successfull people, yeah, i'm aware that some people can keep doing their work when high on heroin, but let's take a look at the other list... the people who beg 4 money or use all their money on heroin, that list is even longer ! just like there are less successfull people who drink or smoke pot than people with average wage or no job at all, cus there are more of them than others... but let's keep cannabis out of this, we all know it's not dangerous !
xXAeon89Xx 10 months ago
@xXAeon89Xx You're absolutely right, but one of the reasons why people in the past could lead decent lives while addicted to opiates was because it was legal. In the UK it was legal til 1967. The fact that it's illegal is the biggest problem: expensive, drugs cut with all kinds of shit, health problems, risking of being in trouble with the law, the social stygma, running around & waiting for hours for dealers, having to mix with scumbags & criminals... that's enough to fuck up anybody's life...
kidcalabria 10 months ago
@kidcalabria i guess it wouldn't be bad trying to legalize all dugs for a while and see how everything drops in the crimerate... and really, it's all about one's morals... if u don't drink, ok, if u don't smoke, ok, but i love drinking and smoking pot... i don't like anything else that much...
xXAeon89Xx 10 months ago
from 1:59 that scared me enough to not experiment with hard drugs. i would not like to be dragged by the ankles down the stairwell with me head bouncing against concrete stairs.
