Athens is safe city!! let me inform u that metro line is until 23:35 and starts at 6:35. but there are out of the airport 4 central buses lines, 24h a day, to take u to u destination. what time u flight will be arrived? from where??
The Athens most center station with a direct connection to the airport is Syntagma. The Syntagma-Airport route lasts no more than 30 minutes. The second line of the airport is the suburban, but in order to go at Syntagma, you have to run the whole line of the suburban and then take a metro change for 4 stations. Prefer the Metro line.
In Athens, only transportation to the airport is overpriced, because it is located 30 kilometres out of the city, not in the city, like in Madrid. Also, don't forget the Athens Metro System is one of the best of the world!
so 5 euro for a 20 km fast and comfortable ride is expensive? Dont forget that ALL urban connections to airports, ports, train stations..etc are overpriced. I'd personally pay the 5-6 bucks for a ride from the airport to Athens THAN pay the 2-3 euror for a bus ticket and get to the city in 90 mins (if lucky).

It's only empty because it's going to the airport. It's normally packed everywhere else.

this metro is at the three final stations and goes to the airport..that's why it is empty! this metro in the center of athens is full

I went to Greece in January and LOVED the subway in Athens, this brings back memories :(. I stayed in the hotel across from the eleftheros.

The Athens Metro is the best! I used Athens Metro from Airport to Monastiraki and from Monastiraki to Pireas! I love it!

the time from airport to Athens is about 40 min.
u can stop Syntagma (center) and u can take others metro lines or buses for u destination. have fun!!!
