It says important so I'm not sure what to do. Also must I install windows 7 to install sony vegas? Vista and 7 (NT 6.0 and 6.1) both use a image based installed with winpe so it will take a while to extract the files from the image to the disk. Windows xp (nt 5.1) uses a ms-dos, windows nt 3.1 two stage setup with cab files witch is faster but only one edition can fit on the disk. after all windows is huge now. Also never run any windows os with windows update disabled.

the older it is the less space it needs.

my old computer has like a 10 gig hardrive, so you don't need 30.

You need to take into account is how big windows says it will be wen you install it, plus it will get bigger than that over time, plus space for programs and docs.

i'll be doing this soon with xp to play 2 old games that total about 3gig so im going to give the partition about 12gig.

Yes, there is a way.

Open The BootCamp installer and you'll receive two options, I believe, and one of them is "Remove a Windows..."

It's really easy.

It will remove Windows from your mac, and the two partitions will become one again. You won't suffer any data loss, but in case smth might go wrong you will want to have a back-up.
